Quick turn-around

History

Established in 1999.

Steve Klein, owner and creator of Creative Dept., Inc. began his advertising career in New York City, working on ad campaigns for Canadian Club, Hartford Insurance, Norelco and the 1984 Olympics with ABC Sports. He also launched the reintroduction of Coca-Cola Classic following the ill-fated launch of New Coke. The «Keep plenty of Coke in the Refrigerator» ad, starring the Chicago Bears’ William «Refrigerator» Perry was the springboard for the «Athletes and Coke» campaign that followed. Steve also worked on Heineken, Lego Toys, Citibank, Johnson & Johnson and Lipton.

Steve started his own agency in 1991 in New Jersey called The Klein Group. One of the agency’s most visible accounts was Modell’s Sporting Goods, a 100-year-old family business that was in trouble. In a major rebranding effort, the agency created the themeline «Gotta Go to Mo’s,» put it to music, and turned Modell’s into the «National Retailer of the Year.» The award-winning campaign more than doubled Modell’s size.
