Disappointment… I had been struggling with carpal tunnel for a couple years now, and was so excited to finally see a specialist and get this taken care of once and for all. I called to make an appointment, the receptionist was nice, my appointment was made & I was told someone would call me in a few days to verify my insurance. I was very impressed that they would verify my insurance before my appointment! I anxiously awaited the phone call, as carpal tunnel is a daily struggle. The phone call never came! I called them the day before my appointment and inquired why I never got the call. I was told they don’t usually call for that. Usually? Do u call or don’t u? She said my insurance said verified. That’s it? Do I have a copay? She assured me I was good to go without providing any details. So I make the drive all the way out there.(keep in mind I live in south Phoenix & the center is all the way out on bell rd) when I get there, I am given paperwork to sign acknowledging that BCBS is out of network. Are u kidding me??? So I figure they didn’t call me like they said they would once they saw my insurance is out of network. Well, I drove all that way, and I was so looking forward to feeling relief in my hands, I decided to see the doctor anyway. They were close to closing time, so the nurse seemed a little annoyed to take my appointment. He asked a whole bunch of questions while typing away in his laptop. The doctor came in and asked me all the same questions. He acted like it was a big mystery what was wrong with my hands. He suggested I come back the following week for a nerve study. That was it. No diagnosis. No prescription. No relief. Big let down. I told the receptionist I didn’t want to make the appointment without knowing how much my out of network insurance would pay. She told me my out of network benefits were the same as my in network benefits. I’m thinking just give me the numbers and then I’ll make an appointment. Well the financial counselor was busy so I would have to speak with her on the phone the following day. I talked to her the next day and she told me they would be collecting $ 1200 upfront at the appointment for the nerve study. They really expected me to come up with $ 1200 within a week! I said it didn’t think that sounded right, that’s a lot of $$, and I was uncomfortable with it. I mean they weren’t asking $ 1200 for the surgery, that was just for the study. I cancelled my appointment and called the Sun Valley Hand Surgery. Look up my review there!(a lot better experience!)
