I am in hopes that my experience with Sue Bauer was a unique one and she is not in the habit of treating people the way that my fiancée, mother and I were treated by her at our consultation. We drove 45 minutes because she was advertised as an expert in European vacations and we obviously wanted an experts advice. What we received was a condescending attitude and an unmerited sense of arrogancecoming from a venom spitting reptile disguised as a travel agent.
When we sat down she just stared at us, we felt awkward, but thought maybe she’s just not an extrovert.
«What would you like to do in Paris?» she asked.
«Something… Untouristy» My beautiful bride to be replied.
A long pause followed before the old wrinkled witch spoke again.
«Untouristy? I don’t follow, you are a tourist» she sounded like a mother scolding a child.
I could see the anxiety in my lovers eyes but sadly I was at a loss for words.
«Off the beaten path, the road less traveled, what do you do when you are there?» My little dove persevered.
«I do touristy things when I’m a tourist, I have no idea what you are talking about but we will get back to it. What else did you want to do?» The hag says to no one in particular.
My turn to speak now «Is there anyway we can fit a beach in at Rome?»
«There are no beaches in Rome» she replies
«I know that, I meant a day trip, google showed a few only 30 Kms away»
«No, there are no beaches, except Normandy, do you want me to send you to Normandy? I can get you to Normandy» she berates.
Confused I pull my phone out and google Ostia Beach, a picture pops up of hundreds of people laying on a beach just 30 Kms from Rome.
«What are these?» I inquire.
«Those are not good beaches, you don’t want to go to those beaches, you will not have fun at those beaches» she says in her superior tone.
«Have we offended you?» My mother asks «we are sorry if you are upset, we should have done more research.»
She stares down her nose as she lies «I don’t know what you mean.»
An awkward silence followed and another 15 minutes of conversation that was as awkward as the beginning. We left wondering if we even want to go to Europe. We were all filled with excitement driving to her office, the drive home we were morose. I would only recommend this place if you want to be talked out of a vacation. At that, they truly are experts.

I am not impressed by this agency or their policies. Before doing any work on my trip they had me come in and give my credit card information and passports. Okay fair enough. But then when an alternate agency contacted me with a itinerary, I called this agency to see if they could provide me with the remaining details and price for my trip, because thus far they had only provided me with suggested hotels. I wanted to compare apples to apples and give this agency a chance to earn my business. In fact, I preferred this agency because they were local compared to an online agency. Unfortunately, when I called to get the rest of my trip details so that I could compare, the agent was rude to me and stated that it was wrong of me to compare two quotes and to have contacted another agency! She also stated that usually they require a $ 150 deposit before they even start to work on a trip which she had waved and that she had already put a $ 150 dollars worth of work into my trip and was not willing to do any more work on it. She made me feel like I had done something wrong by comparing two quotes, while in reality I had contacted the other agency first and I then contacted this one because I hadn’t heard back from the other which was online. I really don’t see what I did wrong by trying to get and compare two quotes. Isn’t that what is called doing business? I also didn’t appreciate the scolding or being made to feel like I some how did something wrong. I DID NOT sign a contract stating that I won’t get quotes from others, this is ridiculous to think that one would not comparison shop. Total snobs!
