History

Established in 2002.

Hon​ey​moon​dance​.com was created in Brooklyn, NY in 2002 by Magdalena Mendez to help wedding couples’ learn to dance for their «first dance».

In the 2003 she made her way to the west, and found a home in The Silicon Valley area. The web site evolved from not only offering to teach wedding couples first dance, but to teach singles, seniors and children ages 10 – 15.

Magdalena– being an independent dance instructor– knew that at some point she would need her own dance space to continue growing her business to offer premier Ballroom Dancing instruction. In 2008 she founded and open The Skylight Ballroom in Scott’s Valley, Ca. The studio nestled in the Santa Cruz mountains was a great opportunity to explore and expand Ballroom dancing in Santa Cruz County.

The JR. Dance Team won numerous awards.

Professional Ballroom Dancer for over 15 years.

Magdalena encourages and inspires students to discover the joy of ballroom dancing. She is always thrilled to see how students develop and the mystery to do moves they didn’t think they could achieve.

In 2014 after going to a Zumba class, she found a deep connection to the music and dances and loved the opportunity to immerse herself back to her Latin roots.

She’s passionate, knowledgeable and her infectious laughter will leave you wanting to come back for more.
