Fancy Nails

I do not recommend Fancy Nails to anyone. My daughter had gone a few times with her friend to have nails put on and would return a few weeks later to have them removed. This past time was a terrible experience. The few times she had been before her nails were soaked to help in removing the fake nails and this was completed with no problem. She recently made another visit with her friend to have her fake nails removed and she came home crying because she was in so much pain. The lady did not soak her nails as before and used a tool to scrape and pop the fake nails off. My daughter had a hole in the middle of her fingernail which revealed the skin underneath her fingernail. We had to keep medicine on it and wrap it until it healed.
Service and communication is extremely below average and we will never return or recommend this establishment.

I just got my nails done yesterday at Fancy Nails. It turned out great much better than I expected. I showed them a picture and my nails looked identical to it after it done.
I love this place.

My mom and I go a couple times a month for the past few years. All of the girls are so sweet and wonderful! The place is always clean and spotless. The longest I’ve ever waited to get seen was about 5−10minutes. I love this place and I highly recommend it!

I went here for an upper lip waxing which I have been doing (at various establishments) for several years every few months. My experience was so poor I’ve decided to start waxing myself rather than risk a situation like this again.
I walked in and was greeted nicely, and then quickly ushered into the back room. What followed was the most rushed, disturbing lip waxing I’ve had. The wax felt too hot and was painful, but worst of all, she waxed an area I did not want her to wax and ended up with a huge, painful, itchy rash on my face. I pointed very clearly to my upper and lower lip, she acted like she understood, and then proceeded to slather wax all over my chin and neck before I knew what was happening. I told her that’s not what I wanted, and she just kept going with applying the cloth and ripping it immediately off. When I protested again it was clear she had absolutely no understanding of what I was saying and just kept saying «it’s ok it’s ok» like I was complaining about the pain I guess? She finally turned her attention to my lip, where she did a super rushed job that removed hardly any hair. I pointed this out to her, and she just started plucking the hairs out one by one. I pay to get waxed because plucking hurts more! An hour or so afterwards, I was sitting at work with an itchy, painful chin and neck covered in pink bumps and sores. A day later and I am still in pain.
I highly doubt that any place that rushes along like this with little to no thought to client experience actually takes time to follow relevant health codes, and I am so worried that the rash on my face and neck is going to get worse and may be an infection. Salons perform services that draw blood– removing cuticles, waxing, plucking. I am never again going to skimp on these services and never going to a place like this again. I only wish I had spoken up more in the moment, but honestly I was just kind of stunned and hoping it would not turn out so bad.
I completely understand if there is a language barrier and do not judge anyone for that, but if you are going to be pouring hot wax on people you should be clear on what they are asking you to do! Not only that, but you should not rush along so quickly that 1) you are not even removing most hairs and 2) you cause unnecessary pain and a rash! I am crossing my fingers my skin is just irritated and I don’t have some scary infection. If the latter ends up happening I will be contacting them.
p. s. And I’ve come here one other time for a manicure, and the woman filed a hole into the tip of my finger that was really painful and lingered for days afterwards. Never again!

I come here once a month and sometimes bring my friends and family with me. They always do a great job on my toes. They have free beverages if you ask for one and I’ve only had to wait once without an appointment. I usually just do a walk-​in and they are always polite.

I’ve gone here quite a few times to give them a fair chance and every time they seem rushed to get my nails done and making mistakes in the process. Today I went in for a gel manicure and Kim was the one who helped me. I had a picture of a very simple design I wanted and showed it to her. However, the end result couldn’t have been farther from the picture. She didn’t even use one of the colors I asked for and did not understand me when I mentioned this to her. The design, a simple heart is rough and looks like I had my niece paint my nails for me. After the manicure was done I noticed that one of my nails was missing polish on a large chunk of it. When I pointed this out to Kim she just filed the spot and then asked if she had fixed it. She finally painted it after I very frustratingly said no, it needs to be painted. She left nail polish all over my fingers and the massage at the end with the lotion was nonexistent, leaving my hands feeling very dry from the UV light used for the gel polish. Needless to say I will not be going back.

KIM is BACK!!! I only see Kim and she does a fantastic job. I have to admit when Kim left for medical reasons I tried a couple of girls with my nails, they did not cut it for me so I left. I found out Kim was back and went right back in to see her. She always takes good care of me and listens to concerns. I am giving Kim 5 stars :)

I’ve been to this place many many times and it’s always been hit or miss. Sometimes my nails look fabulous and other times they’re ok. Why do I keep going? That’s because it’s the closest nail place. However today was a whole other story!
I got my nails done a week ago and they looked fabulous! It was a wonderful pink French gel polish. I left very happy! Three days later they started to pull up and peal off. Jennifer, the manicurist and I think manager, had put the gel too close on my cuticles and the gel polish pulled up. I was getting water trapped underneath all my nails by day five so I pulled them off and went in today to get them redone.
Long story short, the lady insinuated that she didn’t do my nails last week and then had another woman paint them. The woman did a bad job. There’s still flakes of gold from the previous nail color now cooked into my clear gel polish. I asked her three times to fix several different fingers but after the third time I gave up!
Then to top it off she asked for my member card. When I showed it to her said that there wasn’t a stamp on it from the last time with Jennifer’s initials, insinuating once again that I hadn’t originally gotten my nails done from her last week. I took out my phone to show her the bank charge thanks to my Bofa app. Then to top it off she STILL insisted on charging me $ 15 for my polish change I got to FIX what they had done wrong a week ago!!! «Satisfaction Guaranteed» is a lie!
I will never go here again. You’ll see in the pic where she clearly missed the previous gold nail polish. That was even after pointing out several nails with the same problem including the ones in the pictures. Never again! I’ll go to Queen Nails one block away from now on.

I have been going to this place for over a year, and I finally came to my senses, and with the help of my husband who has continually asked me why I come to this establishment when I am never satisfied, and decided to abandon this establishment. There are so many reasons, I’m not sure where to start. First, this place is a nail mill. It seems they go through new technicians every 6 months, aside from one or two girls. Second, they rush through your treatment. My acrylics would start lifting or popping off a week and sometimes days after getting them applied. Another thing is that gel polish should last at least 2 weeks. That NEVER happened with me. It would start lifting 2 days after getting them done. The technicians don’t take their time, and you can tell when the workmanship is shoddy. I went in a couple days after getting a gel manicure to tell them that I needed it done again because of the lifting, and they charged me. I couldn’t believe it. They sell gift certificates but the remainder can’t be used for tip, which is frustrating when you have just enough on a gift certificate and they won’t give you change for the $ 5 and you can’t use the remainder for the tip. Poor business practice, in my opinion. I had the owner tell me once that my acrylic popped off because of the polish I chose. Yeah… I don’t think so. Take some responsibility and treat your customers well. My cuticle has been burned on numerous occasions with the rotating file they use, and when I wince in pain, I’m told it because I’m not holding my hand in the right position. The technicians are constantly talking on their cell phones using their ear buds, which, in my opinion, shows a lack of care and consideration for their clients. I’ve found another place in town where, surprisingly, my gel manicure is going on 2 weeks and it still looks great. Avoid this place! There are better choices in town.

Well, where do I begin?
This is my first review and I really wish it could be a five star review because I so desperately wanted to have a nice, positive experience… that, unfortunately did not happen on any level.
I should have realized what I was in for the moment I walked through the door and no one greeted or acknowledged my existence. I did not have an appointment, but was willing to wait-​I arrived more than two hours before closing and wanted gel nails with tips.
After about ten minutes (no clue why I waited so long), another customer arrived. They must have known this person because she was greeted warmly. I was motioned to a chair as sort of an afterthought.
When I told the technician what I wanted, she seemed to not understand. When I say she did not understand, I mean she did not understand simple English. Another woman was called over to translate-​apparently it was assumed that all I wanted was a simple manicure. When I was able to communicate what I was there for through a combination of pantomime and pointing at the appropriate tools to be used, I was led to a different station and taken over by a different technician.
I had never gotten gel nails done before, so I should have done my research beforehand. I ended up with a sloppy, rushed and thick set of unevenly painted acrylic nails with a gel coat on top. My cuticles were completely ignored. The light that was used to cure the gel kept turning off/​and/​or was not even turned on at all each time I was instructed (through hand signals no less) to put my hands under the light. When I would alert the technician to this fact she would act genuinely put out and annoyed.
The entire time she was speeding through my set, she did not utter a single word to me, not even *how are you?* Instead she chose to talk to her coworkers in Vietnamese. Now I have been exposed to many cultures and customs, as well as having had my nails done at other salons where all the technicians similarly spoke Vietnamese, so it wasn’t some sort of misunderstanding. I have never experienced such rude and careless service at a nail salon before. Even having language barriers in the past, I was made to feel welcome.
I gave up on thinking I was going to get friendly service about half way through and hoped to at least recieve a nice set of nails. Nope. Thick, uneven, horrific paint job, looking like they would be ready for a fill in two days rather than two weeks… I think I also mentioned at the beginning of the review that I wanted GEL nails with tips… not acrylics with a gel finish, but I guess that was more my fault for failing to do my research.
I ended up spending about three hours at home with a nail kit sanding down my nails so they actually looked presentable. I would have been seriously embarrassed if I was a nail technician and had done such a hideously poor job… guess I had to learn ny lessin the hard way… … …

Yesterday 2÷16÷2016 I stopped at fancy nails in Scotts Valley Ca. I’m visiting and needed a fill and pedicure and waxing. It looked okay. But they did everything really fast… My nails look thick and bumpy. I explained to them that I brought my decals And if they knew how to put them on my nails and they said yes. Nope they did not… When I told them I did not like my nails they just talked there language … I was not looking for free services. I tipped all three of them but will not go back. Just giving heads up to anyone that is new here like me. I will be moving here in 5 months so I will be looking for a nice place… I want to feel good when I leave the salon… I did not asked for prices cause I did not care… I just wanted Good work.

love this place! 100% Recommend Hing is the best and unlike some nail places they actually listen to you and do as you would like them to do! I cannot wait to come back again!!!

God I hate this place. I have to go here when Felton Nails is too busy and I need something done that day, today all I needed was some already half grown out gel nails taken off. They said it would be five, charged 10, because I guess she filed the nails, without asking me or telling me it was now a «manicure». The nail techs are extremely rough, push you around, cut your cuticles, and don’t really talk at all. She cut my cuticle today. GO TO FELTON NAILS.

Ok, I tried this place TWICE and I’m not stoked. The first time I went the gal cut my finger and made me bleed. The second time my pedi looked like my 10 year old did it, and the gal that did my nails was rude, bossy amd hurt my nails. She acted like I had never done gels before, even tho I came in with it. I won’t be going back here ever again.

I went with a group of six girls and four of them had a pretty bad experience.
I got a mani and spa pedicure. I chose a pale pink for my toes. The lady gave me two coats which were still translucent in some spots. She was «done» but I asked for another coat because I didn’t want to leave and be upset about it. She seemed really unhappy about having to do another coat. I did no house work but my manicure chipped in less than 24 hours, which was disappointing bc I got them done for a wedding.
The bride who also got a mani and pedi was cut very deeply with one of the tools. The woman was very apologetic and nice about it and gave her some of that liquid bandaid stuff, but it was still a bad experience.
The lady who did my other friend’s pedi messed it up while putting her sandals on and didn’t fix it.
They offered none of us drinks.

I’m new to town and found this place by chance. I walked into a very clean salon and was greeted with smiles and welcomes.
I got the spa pedicure by Tammy. She was meticulous and took her time giving me a perfect French pedicure.
I will definitely go back. Even though it’s 20 miles from my home.

I always have my nails done, but this was different. She took her sweet time, and gave an amazing pedicure. Normally people rush, but she didn’t! Her name was Jennifer (: but I highly recommend this place! Complimentary drinks (soda, water, and even wine)! Amazing prices as well!

This place is super clean. Friendly, professional staff and the best pedicure I’ve ever had. I usually hate getting my nails done because I’m typically so grossed out by nail salons in general, but not this one!
I highly recommend this place if you’re in the Santa Cruz area.

Not impressed. I have had plenty of Spa Pedicure experience. It started with room temp water, I asked for a «spa pedicure» which is 27 $and you are supposed to get a scrub, massage, towels, a foot mask, and polish.
Helen, who did my pedicure, didn’t bother to even my nails across, I told her I didn’t want short nails, so I understand leaving them a bit long, but she didnt make them straight!
Then she left my cuticles dry, hours later, I can see the dryness around the toes.
Also, when I. Asked for deeper exfoliation for my heels, she said,“we don’t do that here” what? Seriously? For 27 $ you should totally do that.
The massage and foot scrub were almost non-​existent, it wasn’tanything special or memorable.
My daughter, who was next to me wanted a simple black design on her toe, she doesn’t have tiny toes (she’s 13 and a tall girl) so when she showed «Tee» her picture I was surprised to have her say, oh we can’t do that… I asked if there was someone else who could, she said no, its to complicated, but I. Pointed to some truely elaborate art work diplayed on some nails up front and asked for whoever did those, because her little black design was not anywhere close to that complicated, she still said no, can’t do that… I offered to do it for her, and they wouldn’t let me.
Both mine and my daughter’s massage chairs were, wierd we felt, uncomfortable. The massage rollers were in a weird position and rolled uncomfortably. I thought it might just be me, so I asked my daughter how her chair was… she said the same thing I thought!
I will not return, it was not dirty or dingy, but in the world of choices, I know that right down the street at both Paris nails and Millies nails I will find a clean shop AND get what i pay for…
