I came here for dinner the day I moved to Scituate. I also came home with food poisoning and an awful impression. I love Scituate but this restaurant does not encompass the high spirits, friendliness, and overall beauty of the town. It encompasses a trash can. There is nothing rewarding about this place, unless you like to barf. Go here if you like to barf.

The best way to describe the food here is dog food… absolutely filthy and disgusting food. A place where locals hang and drink every night… the food may taste alright to them after drinking all night. Friend of mine sells restaurant supplies there and flies ar3 all around the kitchen… This place is a dump

While conveniently located, if another ‘pub’ came to town this place would probably lose all of it’s business. I’m writing this after going three times. First, the layout is horrible. There are really not many seats in the pub area where you can avoid being in a high traffic area, or near the door that lets in blasts of cold air(in winter). The décor is a combination of an old diner and someone’s house that hasn’t been updated in 20 years. The service was really bad. One of our visits was around 4pm and the service was still tremendously slow and unimpressive. The waitresses seem chronically overwhelmed, hurried, disorganized and preoccupied with chatting with the ‘regulars’.The bartenders are nice but they don’t seem to check if anyone at the bar needs a drink. I’ve seen a waitress wait 10 minutes to get a customer a drink. The prices are a very good value for what you get, which is why I gave two stars instead of one. The food is average and i get the sense that most of it was frozen at some point, like potato skins since they were cold in the center. The worst part of our experience was dealing with the large contingency of loud«townie» men that feel they own the place and are catered to by the staff. It’s like walking into a family reunion, and you are the last priority. One guy tried to get through the door that had a sign on it that said to use the other door, because it was blocked with snow. The people sitting near the door told him to use the other door and he ignored them, letting freezing air blow in for at least a minute. He then verbally assaulted the older couple, then told his story to a waitress that he seemed to know. None of the staff instructed him to use the other door or apologized to the people that endured the freezing air or were denigrated by the buffoon. Finally, the bathroom was disgusting and I have a hard time believing that it is cleaned even daily.

It actually makes me sad to write a poor review of Jamie’s. It was great years ago. Now it’s terrible — the service is slow, the waitstaff is rude, and the food is not good. I have such great memories from Jamie’s, but that’s all they are. Gave it multiple tries before we gave up.

The all American burger is a classic burger they cook the way you like with bacon and cheese. Been going there for 18 years great fish and chips. They are reasonable and serve breakfast lunch and dinner. The kitchen is open later than any other place in the area

My wife & I stopped here for an early dinner mainly because we have been patrons of Jaime’s in Braintree for many many years, as soon as it stopped being Cap’s. First our server, no name tag other that a soiled shirt was more than indifferent, it was a chore for her to name the beers on tap for starters. Once we ordered she dropped the rolled silver ware on the table and was gone, as she was taking our order her lack of waitress 101 was all too obvious. My wife had to send back a cup of chicken rice soup that was loaded with celery but no rice and 1 piece of chicken, how do you possibly screw that up, not the waitress but the kitchen person. Soon after our meals came and I will say that the club sandwich was pretty good. The nachos were amazing… amazing in the fact that they left the kitchen with the cheese hardly melted, no sour cream & a tiny cup & ½ of salsa, seriously! They had cooled off in the kitchen so I should not be surprised that they were served like this. As we were eating we noticed our waitress«cashing» out at an other table and then woosh out the door with not so much as a thanks for coming to Jaime’s, and so & so will be taking over for me I gotta blow outa this taco joint. Not for nothing Ralph the server comments in the reviews really need to be addressed, this was one of the worst wait staff we have encountered in years of eating out. No mention of specials or anything, the one person working her ass off was the girl tending the bar & taking care of tables. I would think a staff meeting for all, wait staff & kitchen would send a wake up message.

We had dinner at Jamie’s a year ago. Food was ok, but the service was slow. I always give a restaurant a 2nd chance. I wish I hadn’t. This time the experience was even worse. How long does it take to get 2 beers, a glass of wine and a margarita? Close to 40 minutes. The food arrived 3 seconds after our drinks. The lobster rolls were tasteless, the french fries and onion rings were warm. The 2 sandwich wraps were ok. As the food was delivered we asked for the check. We didn’t want to wait around and longer than we had too. We won’t be returning.

We used to eat a Jamie’s 2 to 3 times a week. The food was ok, the price was right and drinks reasonable. The service at that time was very good, there was always a crowd. In the last few years this place has taken a huge nose dive. Food poor, drinks high, prices high, service awful. Howie it that a bartender will leave a full bar for over ten minutes? This happened twice the last night we ate there. How long does it take to get three bottles of beer– timed it fifteen minutes. I wanted to leave, my wife and daughter were to embarrassed to leave– had to stay and be ignored by wait staff and the bartender. They need help that knows what they are doing-this place is awful. Any other place will be better. A shame used to like going there.

Once was a family restaurant now more like a sports pub. Old restaurant was dirty, but food was better. Recently renovated but service and quality of food seem to be inconsistent. Salty chicken and rice soup, decent turkey club, free refills on drinks. Last time I went in the middle of the day… no one came over to our table so we left and won’t be back.

Just plain awful! We were ignored by the? waitress/hostess when we arrived until we address her. She barely looked up from her computer to tell us to «sit anywhere». Our food was awful. We started with soup of the day-chicken and rice. Soup had a nice rich flavor but was almost too salty to eat. It was accompanied by one package of stale saltines. I ordered steak tips. I had to specify how I wanted them, the waitress did not ask. They were just plain nasty. They were so soft that I can only guess they had been sitting in marinade for days. I thought they had a slightly sour/fishy taste to them. The accompanying rice was(like the soup) almost too salty to eat. BF ordered deep fried chicken dijon sandwich. It was edible, served on what looked like a supermarket hamburger role. The accompanying french fries were just frozen supermarket ones, not nice pub steak fries. As we picked through our food, we had to listen to our waitress(sitting a couple of tables away) complaining to another staff person about how bad business was, a coworker who is always late, needing to work a double to make more tips… She never once looked our way or came over to ask how our meal was. When she came over to clear our table and give us the bill she said«was it awesome?» and walked away without waiting for an answer. My BF had one word for the service«pathetic».

Some memories from the past just need to stay there. After months of hearing KG’s constant reminiscing over Jamie’s hot dogs* and fries, we found ourselves in Scituate around lunch time. Jamie’s it is. Perfect. Except not. The menu reads like we’re sitting near a world famous kitchen, and based on the meal, I’m guessing they’re fueling a well-oiled hype machine capable of bamboozling the brightest of blue-hairs and bobbins alike. Sorry KG, it’s true. We started with cheeseless nachos(some would call them chips) topped by a barely-there(and thankfully so) watery chili, some lettuce, jalapeños and sided by sour cream and salsa. It was a cold, oily heap, which is normally fine if it’s dripping with melted queso, but alas — a total bust. My soup and half sandwich came with fries and sat around $ 7. Totally reasonable. The soup — that bland chili that topped the nachos, which we unfortunately ordered at the same time — at least had a helping hand with the aforementioned missing cheese, while the tuna and mayo sat on lifeless wheat bread, with a translucent tomato to dance with. The whole thing tasted like nothing. Ponder that. Free refills(yay!) on Pepsi products(nay!), and the midday atmosphere feels like you crashed a not-very-popular round of bingo. I’m all for history, but from what we gathered, the Jamie of Jamie’s fame is no longer at the helm, and all the majesty of what once was has left with him. * Two boiled and breaded, with a handful of fries runs $ 5. Even with all that nostalgia, KG still left with a frown.

I feel bad giving one star, but this was really bad… and I generally will eat anything! Maybe it was an off night for them? It was pretty busy there. I got the chicken tender dinner(how can you go wrong?) and the French Fries were soggy and the chicken was just weird. It looked like it had been dipped in some sort of batter and then fried, but maybe removed too soon. The batter was undercooked in many spots. Also the honey mustard dipping sauce had this weird after taste. Needless to say I ate a few fries and left the rest…

If you want to find every waitress that has been fired in the northeast… look here. If you LOVE lousy service… go here. If you want cruddy food… eat here. The waitstaff is the worst I have ever seen in my life, that includes school and prison cafeteria crews. They are old, ugly, rude and disinterested. I have sat for 15 minutes without being acknowledged, given a menu or place settings, when the place was nearly empty. Then comes the long wait for crappy food. It is the only place to eat besides pizza shops within 10 miles. So I always go back every couple weeks thinking it was just in my head. And every time I regret it. Every time I eat here its the same thing. The food Sucks! Sucks! Sucks!

We have been loyal patrons for 15 years, but I am sorry that it ain’t what it used to be. It is no longer Jamie’s — the actual Jamie is gone and I am not sure if one of his kids runs it now or if it is entirely new owners. The old model was good food at great prices in huge portions, in a townie atmosphere. The décor of the place was indeed dated, and I used always thing«gosh I hope they never change this!» There were few remaining family pubs remaining that escaped misguided gentrification. Jamie’s was one of the last. They put up flatscreens a few years back and you have local sports(Sox, Pats, et al.) playing most of the time. The old charm was still there. Yet very recently, it has going through a major remodel. Now it looks like any other sports pub. It’s not bad. More flatscreens. But it is not quaint like it used to be. But the worst is that there seems to be chaos among the staff — both the kitchen and the waitresses. Some are clearly new, a few are old(both in tenure and age) but no one seems to know what is going on there these days. The food was always good, not great — but simple. A little bit of Greek influence(Jaime was/is Greek) and largely New England fare. Good fish, pizza, Prime Rib on the weekends. But the quality has definitely gone downhill in the last year, and more so recently. The new/current barstaff is very inexperienced, and the locals who used be there seemingly every night appear to have disappeared, and for sure the whole bar area(separated from the main dining room by a half flight of stairs) is very different. The remodel was no doubt expensive, and strikes me as a step backwards. But worst is that is going to have to effect food prices, and then it will start sliding downhill. Perhaps the new owners or managers felt that someone new walking in the door of the old place would unimpressed, but how much of their clientele was old vs new. Among the locals, what I hear now is «we’re going there every again.» I will add that going there last night, which was a cool summer night outside, was absolutely freezing inside. There was nowhere you could sit that you weren’t being blasted the AC, and we moved tables, as did several other patrons around us. But it was too damn cold. Then I notices the thermostat was set to 64 degrees. What the hell? Not only is that jacking up their utility bill, but it is totally uncomfortable. The vast majority of patrons at Jamie’s are elderly, or families with young children. That was true last night, as it is any day of the week. How many of them want to see in a blast of 64 degree blowing AC? The prices on the menus seem to be creeping up, and there is no way the old model of «good food, great prices, huge portions» can be maintained, so presumably that is no longer the model. It was the staple for families in Cohasset and Scituate, as there are not many other family dining places around here. I would much rather go to Jamies than an Applebee’s type place, but this model there is clearly changing. And doubt anyone local would argue it is change for the better.

Gotta say, with the new remodeling this place looks great! It’s a townie kind of place but it’s got great people. I got the buffalo mac and cheese as a meal and it was excellent. Service was great also. The bar area is much improved and you gotta go to karaōke Thursdays!

Dined here a few years ago while they were remodeling. I was disappointed with the level of cleanliness then, but have since returned and it was much cleaner this time. Jamie’s is an endearing local restaurant /tavern. It’s not fancy, but it’s not quite a dive bar, either. The restaurant and grill are quaint, comfortable places to sit and have a conversation. The employees are very friendly, and make you feel at home. The kind of place to stop in for a sandwich or to catch a game and a few beers with friends.

Good place to go when meeting a friend, and you don’t feel like going«all the way» to Scituate harbor(which can be off the beaten track when you don’t live in Scituate). Has a classic townie, regular pub food. quiet enough to have a conversation, but noisy enough to make you feel like you are out. Always had nice, pleasant servers. It is a «forgotten» place when I think of going out in Scituate, but it doesn’t disappoint. like«Oh yeah let’s meet at Jamie’s!»

Jamie’s has a standard breakfast menu. The breakfast was surprisingly good, and the service was also great. My only complaint would be able the many flies that were flying around during breakfast. Nothing is worse than flies buzzing around when you are trying to eat. Aside from that I had an enjoyable experience.
