Came here today for an open house for their new Buffalo Helen Keller. Was not very well organized and there didn’t appear to be any supervision of most of the animals. I saw kids getting right into the faces of 1k pound pigs and bopping them on the heads(ie petting kinda roughly as kids have a tendency to do) and sticking their faces right in the pigs face. Saw another kid step on the leg of a very old sheep who couldn’t stand up and get out the way. The sheep didn’t move the entire time I was there. There was also no hand sanitizer around except in the one outhouse to clean your hands after petting the animals. This place is not set up nor the staff trained on how to manage crowds. Parking was a mess of park wherever you can find a hole even if that blocked traffic and nobody was there to tell you to move your car. As a sanctuary they may do excellent work, but as a public place for people to visit don’t expect it to be anything more than a working farm with little thought to the public. So if you bring kids, keep YOUR eyes on them because the staff are nowhere to be seen.

This is an amazing place. You can go volunteer to help abused and neglected animals. There are horses, cows, pigs, donkey, sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, and llamas. They love fruits and veggies so you may bring some out to feed them. They often host holiday events where you can attend, learn about the sanctuary, visit/feed the animals, and share food and drinks with other visitors.
