I recommend anyone who is serious about their cut to try this place out. I tried it out after seeing it’s great reviews so I just told Jorge to do his thing, and the result was the perfect haircut. Best barber in New York!

If I say that I drive 25 miles just to get my haircut, then would you believe it? Well, you have to, because I actually do! It takes me about 35 minutes just to go to this place and it is totally worth it. This guy really knows what he is doing. I dont want to say anything more. This should be enough to tell you why this place is GREAT!
I really wish that he can extend his weekdays hours little bit longer. I really need a haircut but as I have travels plans every weekend so I have to wait a really long time before I can find a time to get my haircut.

There is a reason why this place has 5 stars. It is not the most glamorous shop set in not the most glamorous area but once you step in the door you are made to feel very welcome.
Jorge gave me a fantastic shave and tidied up my hair as well. He took his time, was careful and left me feeling and looking great. It was the perfect birthday present to myself.
He went over and above to make sure I was taken care of. When he found out that I had walked a long way on the snow covered sidewalks to get to the shop he offered me a ride home. (I don’t want to get people thinking this is always included in the price of a hair cut, he just happened to have enough time at that point!

I went to my previous barber for over 30 years. A few months ago, I went here for the first time because my dad used to go here and I told him I would go with him some day. I just kept promising him I would join him but unfortunately he passed away before I made it there. Well, like I said, I finally made it here a little while back and returned today for the second time. The owner is great and again, an outstanding hair cut at a very good price. Neck shave, hot towel, and scalp massage completed a wonderful experience. I plan on passing the word and now that I am 58 myself, God willing, maybe I can give this place 30 years of loyalty as well !! And with a little luck, maybe you’ll get to meet ‘Elvis’.

This place is great! My son and I went for the first time yesterday and were treated like old friends. Fun atmosphere! We played foozeball while we waited (10 min) then both got awesome haircuts and Jorge gave me the best shave I’ve had in a long while! He and his partner Sue are making it work well! We plan on making this our «regular» place!

PROS: The haircuts were extremely well done and the pricing was about 10 — 15 dollars for one. The customer service if great as well.
CONS: When there is a waiting line, it is ridiculous because there are only 1 – 2 barbers ever there.
The place is a little messy and the children are rambunctious and twnd to ruin the atmosphere they try to portray.
The barbers there seem to be a bit lazy in the way they carry themselves and come off very unprofessional as well.
* I switched to Patricks barbershop on union street. Definitely a far better atmosphere and haircut.

In town from San Francisco, I’m use to using Unilocal to find the highest rated buisnesses. Well I wasn’t disappointed, droped in, got a friendly greeting, talked about the area, and got a GREAT HAIRCUT at a GREAT PRICE! I’ll be back when I’m in town.

When I moved to upstate NY I couldn’t find two things, great pizza and a great barber. Two years ago I found Schenectady Barber shop and can tell you my search has stopped. Jorge is a professional who takes his trade seriously and takes time to listen and give a great cut. Very cool guy. Great atmosphere, great people and great music makes it even better. Sue is a nice addition to the shop and you should give her a chance as well. You can also bring the kids.

Best barber shop in town. Sue and Jorge both do a fantastic job in delivering the haircut you want which for me is a high fade with a 2, 1, 0. I just moved to Scotia 9 months ago and Jorge was the first person I went to and stuck with him since. Previously when I lived elsewhere, I had a barber who cut my hair for 14 years. I was VERY happy and impressed of how similar Jorge cut my hair compared to my original barber and wound up looking much better than what I am used to. It’s a relief as I am self conscious with my haircuts and if you are then you have no worries coming to Schenectady Barber Shop.
Sue is great too. I let her cut my hair for her apprenticeship and she nailed it as well. It’s awesome knowing that either barbers, Sue and Jorge, can cut your hair the way you want it. They are also very nice people and represent Schenectady quite well… even though i barely know them. Pleasant to talk to while getting your haircut.

Awesome barber shop always get great cuts and the people there are awesome. Wouldn’t think about going anywhere else

Not really much to add other than what has already been said — great, professional haircut from jorge. Friendly and inviting atmosphere and Elvis welcomed me right when I got in the door. This is my new spot!

Jorge is the effin man! Now that it said I can give my review. After moving I needed to find a good barber. I tried 3 places in Scotia and they didn’t cut my hair correctly. So I called Jorge and told him what I usually get and he said come in and give me a try, if you don’t like it then the cut is free. Well let’s just say this, I’ve been going back to him ever since. He is consisted, which is extremely hard to find in a barber shop, and he knows what he is doing. Thanks again Jorge! You have my business every 2 weeks I will be in!

Highly recommended. I’ve been going to Schenectady Barber Shop for almost two years now. Jorge always sets it off, whether you need a scissor cut or a double edge. I used to go to Rumors regularly, but can honestly say Jorge’s cuts are better, for a quarter of the price. Just got a scissors-​only fade, and you’d think it was done with a razor. Jorge’s cuts are always on point, and have been instrumental in nailing job interviews and pretty girls. Be prepared for the top quality trim that follows a cut at Schenectady Barber Shop.

I have to say its been a while since I’ve had my hair cut professionally… I was worried about finding the right person that I could trust. Jorge is the best! He has great customer service and is always friendly. The music is great and the atmosphere is fun. His attention to detail is what keeps me coming back!!! Oh yea and that awesome two minute head message is my favorite part!

This place is awesome, needs more customers. Great cut, great conversation, great music, great shop, and one of the cutest dogs you will see. I highly recommend this place. Jorge is simply the best. Old style barber with old style service at a great price. Most importantly, Jorge delivers exactly what you ask for with a pleasant and professional manner. He’s the real deal. I became a regular because quality service like this is hard to find.

I love going to this place. Always lively with people coming in to say hi etc. Jorge does a great job without taking forever… Always has some good tunes playing, and will adjust the Pandora radio to your liking
