Felthousen’s Florist & Greenhouse is a family owned business since 1913. We have 3 locations in Schenectady, Cohoes and Troy that provide daily delivery throughout the capital district. We provide Teleflora nationwide service and specialize in custom weddings and funerals. Arrangements and gifts are available for birthdays, holidays, congratulations, get well, sympathy, anniversaries, new baby, thank you and just because. Blooming Plants, Orchids, Fresh bouquets, Roses, Dish gardens, Balloons, Bedding plants. Silk Designes and chocolates are also available.

History

Established in 1913.

Our 3rd and 4th Generations still run this business, hands on, everyday. We are a full service, community minded, retail flower shop that serves the Greater Capital District area. Established in 1913 in Schenectady as a flower business, our history goes back to 1753, when Christophel Felthousen came here as part of the original Dutch settlement.

I was raised in the Floral Business since a kid. Most of my training is hands on, with some formal teaching at Cobleskill and Industry seminars. I have lived in this area my whole life. Our family is totally committed to creating and delivering beautiful floral and plant designs.

My dad’s ordered from here before and recommended them to me. I needed a flower arrangement to take to a graveside memorial in the Adirondacks and I was worried about getting it there in good condition.
I was supposed to pick it up at 2, but arrived early. It wasn’t ready yet, and they were obviously very busy (Memorial Day weekend), but they put it together for me right away. It was lovely!
They packed it securely in a box, and even gave me a bottle of water to take with me so I could keep it watered. I also bought a huge, beautiful hanging begonia for the relatives I was staying with, which was very reasonably priced. Everything made it up north in perfect condition.
Overall a very positive experience and I’ll definitely use them again.

These people are the best! I’m never disappointed! They really go the extra mile for their customers– it’s awesome! Prices are a tad high and that’s why I am giving 4 stars, but they are really worth the price.

Mark Felthousen is your go-​to florist! He is thoughtful, extremely responsive and professional. I am a professional event planner; I have used many florists personally and professionally and few have compared to Mark’s attention to detail. He made me feel like I was the only customer in the midst of a snow storm and Valentine’s weekend. I can not wait to work with him and his team again.

The company my father works for ordered an arrangement from Felthousen’s for my Grandmothers funeral service. They had promised that they would be delivered to the service location at 1 o’clock. That did not happen. Then my fathers boss said that they would be delivered to our house that day. We waited as long as we could before we had to leave for the funeral service which started at 7 pm. No flowers. The next day aeround 1:30 we get a call froim Felthousen’s delivery man whom was nice but we explained that they were supoposed to come the day before for the funeral service but they could still deliver them to our home. We then recieved a call from Mark who identified himself as the owner who was making excuses as to why the flowers werent there the day before. First saying there was no one at the location when they went to deliver the flowers at 1. Which is untrue because we had several arrangements ordered from Price Chopper that were on time. He gave attitude and never apologized or offered a credit for my fathers boss. He was very rude and I cant believe someone who was so unsympathetic could be the owner. Never order flowers from there if you have any occasion where you would want your flowers delivered on time.

I’m downgrading to three-​star territory (somewhat unusually) based on comparison to other establishments for price and selection, now that we’ve been to Felthousen’s a half dozen times. Felthousen’s has a more high-​end and occasion-​feel to it than most of the area floral/​plant places, but when we’ve gone looking for specific plants we’ve been consistently disappointed, and the pricing has turned out to be above average. I’ve also been disappointed by the «ready to take» selections they’ve had for bouquets. We have gotten good help on occasion, others we felt we were bothering the staff. I’m still not sure how to take this establishment, but it will remain our go-​to place for last minute shopping but for bargains and errands with advanced planning we’ll go to the grocery stores or the larger and cheaper floral/​plant places down Route 7.

Sad — I ordered the «florist’s arrangement» for my dad’s birthday, and apparently this was a dud. Flowers started wilting the next day, and the arrangement smelled terrible.
First time there was a problem with Felthousen’s. Very, very sad.

I want to like this place, really I do. One time I had two drivers come to deliver a few arrangements, I’d ordered for my daughter’s birthday. The drivers, were very nice and came back a few times until I was home. They called to see what the best time would be, when they couldn’t catch me. The arrangements were nice.
Today, however was a different experience. You don’t leave flowers on the front porch in winter. Half of my arrangement is wilting, the stems were crammed in a vase, and multiple «heads» came off of the stems, when I removed the plastic overwrap.
