Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel

We just checked into our room here and are not thrilled that we’ve already found the prior occupant’s hair on the desk, bed, and in the shower. There was also backsplash all over the mirror that I cleaned up because it was too gross to look at and soap residue on the side of the tub. Our early check-​in request wasn’t honored, so I would have at least expected the room to have been properly cleaned given the wait.
I had been very excited to stay here again given what a great experience I had here back in December for my company’s holiday party. This time, however, I’m just thankful that we will be out at a wedding for most of the night and that we are not spending the majority of our time in the room.
Side note: the overall facility is actually a very nice venue.

My entire wedding party was staying here for a wedding in Hoffman Estates, and the hotel was definitely the most beautiful one I’ve stayed at. The reason I’m knocking off a star is because of the check in problems many of my guests had. We were one of the many wedding parties at the hotel over memorial day weekend. Our contact, Linda Bowen, was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. She responded to our emails very promptly. I didn’t like, however, that many of my guests were unable to check in early even though we sent an early check in list to the hotel – I can understand that they can’t accommodate everyone, but there should be guaranteed check in at 4 pm, and a few of my guests didn’t have a room at that point. The staff didn’t offer anything in compensation until one of my guests prodded and was able to get a starbucks gift card… If you have a guaranteed check in time, please stick to that time and give your guests something if you can’t make that time! Also, one of my guests arrived around midnight and the hotel had no room for them! They were extremely tired after a flight and had to wait 45 min to get a room. That to me is sloppy work. Overall, though all the communication with Linda prior to our arrival was excellent, our actual wedding weekend at the Renaissance disappointed me.
On another note, please be aware that this hotel does not have free wifi in the rooms and if you’re looking to bring a lot of luggage into your room, you need to use the services of the bellman – you cannot borrow a luggage cart and take the luggage to your room yourself since they only have enough luggage carts for the bellmans’ use.

I came here for a charity event, so I have no idea what the hotel portion is like, only the convention center.
The convention center was nice. The staff were attentive and seemed like they were doing the best they could with the amount of people. The food wasn’t too bad, they should have brought out the desert after the dinner versus before (the mousse was melted and watery, and definitely warm by the time we ate it). Drinks are never cheap, it was about $ 9/​drink.
Overall a decent size place, nice staff, and decent food. Not sure that I would have a wedding here but decent nonetheless.

I’ve been Platinum with Marriott longer than I can remember and stay 80+ nights a year for work. I generally like this hotel — rooms are good, front desk if friendly, etc. So my bad review is focused on the bar where I ordered a chocolate Martina. Imagine my shock when I got the bill for $ 18.75. Odd because the highest priced cocktail on the menu (also a martini) is priced between $ 12-​$ 13.
I expressed my shock to the waitress and she was very friendly about it — saying the prices went up recently. I also mentioned it to the front desk manager and he was very professional about it — even giving me a $ 20 credit towards food or beverage. So in terms of how I came out — I really can’t complain. So my review is really a message to corporate folks that type of pricing behavior (unlisted on the menu and completely out of line with the market) is predatory and greedy. And ultimately it will backfire on you because customers don’t forget. So when I comes time to decide on where my company holds our user forum or sales meetings I’m not going to pick your hotel and convention center because I don’t want my employees paying these type of outrageous prices nor my customers to be taken advantage of in this manner.

I stay at the Renaissance every time I’m in Schaumburg. Which is quite a bit for work. In addition to being loyal to the Marriott brand, this hotel provides you with a beautiful and elegant setting with all the amenities you could possibly need for a fantastic rate. Great gym, restaurant and overall service. I’m always greeted with a smile, which is expected. The rooms are very simple and pleasant. I love the TVs in the bathroom and the bedding is very conform arable. Everything is down bedding so you feel like you’re on a cloud.

Truly, the people here are very nice. But I think they need to do a better job maintaining the rooms. When I first stepped into my room, I was greeted by the pleasant smell of fecal matter. I thought, great, the last guest probably left a big dump in the toilet and the smell needs to dissipate. I left the room, went to work and dinner, came back and the smell was still there.
In all likelihood a child probably pooped on the carpet somewhere at some point. I can’t think what else could possibly result in such a long lasting poop smell. And would the housekeeping staff not have noticed just HOW GROSS the room smelled?
So I called the front desk and they offered to switch rooms for me. Great. I packed up all my (considerable amounts of) stuff and moved down the hall. I unpacked all my stuff and found that my toilet didn’t work. They sent an engineer up to fix it (who didn’t show up for quite a while) and then am told that it will take another 30 minutes to repair the toilet. This is at 11:30 PM. I needed to wake up at 3 am. This was unacceptable. They did offer to switch me to yet another room.
But seriously at that point I couldn’t even think about packing all my stuff up again. Two stars because I think they truly wanted to help me solve my problem. But seriously. I’ve always considered the Renaissance a top notch hotel — they should be doing a better job of maintaining their facilities. Because honestly, my experience here has not been worth the price tag…

Wonderful place.
We came here for fir first time to participate in the Race & Performance Expo. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by very friendly staff.
Upon getting to the floor our room was really nice and when I asked for extra towels, they were there in moments to stock the bathroom.
The hotel was clean, the bar was expensive but convenient. The convention center also was clean and the bathrooms were tended too.
Top notch! Highly recommend

Great hotel clean and friendly service. Come here every year for business conference. They over charge you for slow wifi Internet other than that very good hotel

Andrew who works the front desk at check in was absolutely amazing! He went above and beyond for us last night from walking us to a place we could get some advil for a headache to telling us about the new pool renovations and what time we could swim until. He even complimented my coat when I first came in because I was so upset after dealing with an unpleasant person upfront, Andrew turned my frown way upside down and made my stay perfect! Loved andrew! Genuinely very nice associate!

Stayed here for a Christmas party. The lobby and common areas are beautifully decorated, just fantastic. However, I was let down by the rooms. The bathrooms had the WORST lighting. Doing my make up was a struggle. Even worse, there was only one mirror in the whole room!
The TV in the bathroom did not work, which isn’t a big deal, but for the price of the room, I was a bit disappointed.
The room was pretty clean, I did pull out one of the stools to sit on and where was a bunch of dust and items from a previous guest.
Overall, the stay was nice. I would stay here again, I would just make sure everything was in working order!

Awesome personal! Good service and food. Nice gym and a very big pool with hot tab!!! all I need :) and of course my room is very large and clean! Love it!

We came here for an awesome dog expo! The location was super accommodating to dogs. I especially thought it was clever to have the expo held in a warehouse setting meaning concrete flooring instead of carpeting. My dog hasn’t had an accident in over two years, but for other dog owners this was a nice touch! Although our dog wasn’t feeling it and wanted to explore they had a decent size slab of grass inside the expo for dogs to use the washroom.
There were many different vendors there from free nail clippings (which we took part in with our dog) to clothing, collars, vets, animal rescue agencies. WARNING: if you are a pet lover you may wind up coming home with one of these adorable precious dogs! They had a girl version of our dog and if we weren’t pregnant that puppy would’ve came home with us! For cat lovers they had the same accommodations and had cats up for adoption as well. I highly recommend this event for pet lovers! Hopefully, we’ll get back there again next year for this expo!

I absolutely enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance! I was here for a convention in mid-​August with ~1000 attendees. We essentially took over the entire hotel [bedrooms, conference rooms, bars, outside terrace, etc]. Being that we’re asked to book hotel rooms months in advance, I had no problems checking in. I forgot to put one roomie’s name on the room which we discovered as I was about to board my flight to Chicago and she was trying to check in. I verified my information with the front desk over the phone and they gave her a key, no big deal. There was no issue at all as well for me to check in and remove another name on the room for someone who could no longer attend.
Our room was phenomenal — clean everything AND a TV in the bathroom mirror! Daily, our beds were made and clean towels [when we asked] were provided! There was also an abundance of storage in the closet and drawers. Hidden behind some fake drawers was a nice mini fridge — perfect for drinks/​snacks storage.
Our conference space was wonderful — we took up both floors of essentially most/​all of the conference rooms, giving us all comfy space in the walkway/​outside areas. Every morning a crew set up a temporary breakfast stand until lunch. Although I didn’t purchase anything, what I saw was a great variety for those who were interested. Water and cups were in abundance in every meeting room — perfect to help those who had a late night ;)
I sincerely appreciate the Renaissance staff’s efforts at working with our national office to help organize a wonderful conference.

Very nice convention center. We attended the Gluten Free Allergen Free Expo here and were pleased with the place. We did not stay at the hotel here, but we did come both Saturday and Sunday to the expo. The only downfall I would say was we had to park pretty far away both days because a couple other events it looks like were going on at the same time.

I do not have anything but great things to say about this hotel. I had my wedding here and was so happy with the entire experience. First of all, the entire hotel is so beautiful and makes for gorgeous photos. There is a signature scent which is really pleasing too (I guess that’s the point of a signature scent). The décor is modern and bright. From the day I walked in for the first time, we had really personalized service to describe what they had to offer for a wedding. One thing they told us which I liked was if you don’t have your wedding there, you can’t take photos in the entrance (which is really quite breathtaking), so that way there’s no issues with other parties in the way or whatever. Also there was a volleyball convention the same day as the wedding, and I was really worried about it, but it turned out to be a non-​issue.
The day of the wedding, we, again, had very personalized service to make sure everything went smoothly. The food was amazing – we had the a few different options but the short ribs were the biggest hit for dinner. We also had a sushi bar and I wish we had ordered more, I didn’t realize how much everyone would like it, I think it ran out very quickly. During the cocktail hour, I was hoping to have it outside, but that day it was a little rainy and so it was easier to have it indoors and it was still a hit. They put out couches and lounge furniture both in the cocktail hour, and inside the ballroom, which was really cool.
Anyway, I have to say that the staff here made everything great for such an important day. It was also pretty convenient for the guests. There is free parking outside and though we ran out of rooms at the discounted rate for the room block, they honored it for everyone anyway.
Finally – I have to say something about the cake. The Renaissance has their own pastry chef and their packages include the cake. The cake was AMAZING. It was a lemon cake with raspberry filling and it was so good. And it was beautiful. They saved the top tier and rather than freezing it, we just ate from it for a week or two after the wedding. Not sure if that helped my waistline but it was pretty awesome.

The Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center Hotel is excellent. I’ve attended a few conferences here over the years and continue to be impressed.
I just returned from a visit this past week and was amazed to see how well the place had been maintained as my last visit was 6 – 7 years ago! It’s in great shape!
The rooms are very clean and comfortable, open areas classy, staff is top-​notch and the eating/​drinking options very good.
The conference area is nicely set apart from the hotel via an indoor walkway, so you don’t feel like you are in the midst of badge-​wearing, bag toting expo-​goers.
Seriously, I’m a huge fan of this place and wouldn’t mind vacationing there… except for the fact that it’s a bit of a haul to downtown Chicago.
Reasonably priced, very comfortable and overall first-​class.
Can’t wait to return — an easy 5 stars for me!

This is my go to hotel in Schaumburg or Northwest Suburbs of Chicago. It’s close to my regional office, plus we have a very reasonable corporate rate for this higher end Marriott property.
As soon as you walk in the corridor, you get a whiff of this very pleasant scent. It’s my favorite thing ever going in to this hotel. Their scent machine was put to good use and believe it or not I come back here all the time because this hotel creates that happy feeling through my olfaction/​sense of smell.
Being a convention center, it is a huge complex. Take the escalator to the lobby on the second floor, and you’ll find a nice seating area with circular fire place in the center. The front desk is off to the side on the right.
My last stay here, they gave me a room on the penthouse floor in the sixteenth floor. Let’s just say, the view from my window was pretty cool though it’s a view of Schaumburg, filled with office building and strip malls. The room itself is also so nice. Comfortable bed with crisp white linen, a lounging chaise, an efficient workspace and a very nice bathroom with TV incorporated into the mirror by the sink. I love that I could watch TV as I curl my hair. The toiletries are Aveda brand. Nice!
Concierge lounge is also top notch. Great selection of free foods. Breakfast time is always filled with hot breakfast of eggs, freshly made oatmeal, parfait of yogurt in martini glass, fresh berries in abundance, pastries, etc. At night when I stop by for snacks and tea, they usually have great desserts like petit fours, brownies, cookies. They have a nice selection of alcoholic drinks and fresh brewed coffee. I love their white cheddar popcorn and that they serve Mighty Leaf Tea. Not to mention, the atmosphere in the lounge is comfy and classy on the fifteenth floor. The penthouse floor can descend from their own door to the lounge. That was awesome.
Being in Schaumburg, it is surrounded with places to eat. There’s Sam and Harry’s Steakhouse in house, and Morton’s and Chicago Prime are nearby. Plus hundreds other restaurants. The bad part is parking. It is quite a walk to the front door just because the complex is huge. In the winter time, I’d consider valet parking as it is quite a walk to check in with all your stuff and walk it.
I love Renaissance Hotels in general and this one is a pretty great one. I’d never pass a chance to stay here. I always sleep really good. Nice bed!

This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at.
Everything is extremely clean and you just get a sense of upper class at this hotel.
The only con i would say was the room tv’s were a bit outdated.
Besides that, this place is amazing.
