With over 60 years of combined experience, our doctors have a proven reputation for being among the best in their field. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons are required to complete a minimum of four additional years of hospital-​based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. Our staff is also efficiently trained in assisting with all surgical procedures, including IV (intravenous) sedation and general anesthesia. Our doctors perform the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgeries, wisdom tooth removal, bone grafts, dental implants, TMJ and facial/​jaw reconstruction. They also diagnose a series of other issues from facial pain to traumatic injury.

Business Owner

Dr. Mark Banakis received his undergraduate degree from Loyola University. He continued his education at the University of Illinois Medical Center where he obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Following dental school he completed a one-​year internship at Evanston Hospital. Dr. Banakis then had the unique opportunity to attend the University of Chicago Medical Center for his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery where he was chief resident for 2 years. He has held teaching positions as Associate Clinical Professor in both the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Chicago. Dr. Banakis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition, he has received clinical and academic awards for his dedication to excellence in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
