Avel Flight School

Hi All
The free two day private pilot ground school course given by Prashanth Elangovan of Avel Flight School was very informative. I needed to get a better understanding of the theory behind flying before making the decision to join flight school and the free ground school course gave me the confidence to move ahead. Prashanth’s experience and knowledge in flying together with his teaching skills make him a very talented flight instructor. I look forward to taking flying lessons from his school.

After reading Prashanth’s reply to my review, I’m going to update my review so that anyone reading my review understands that there was no misunderstanding.
1. The Groupon deal for the private pilot license had NOT ended and that is why it was still on Groupon. Prashanth CLEARLY explained that I should purchase the private pilot training through Avel Flight School and NOT purchase it through Groupon. When you refer to «anyone contacting Goupon» to find out the Groupon was «no longer available to purchase», that is you or some other authorized agent of your company to inform Groupon the offer was no longer available. Otherwise, the Groupon is still available which is why it was on Groupon. Pretty simple to understand.
2. It is not surprising you didn’t want me to purchase through Groupon because then you would have to honor it. As you explained in your reply to my review, you’ve never reneged on a Groupon, and that’s why you wanted me to purchase the flight training through you directly. So, why didn’t I just purchase it through Groupon and then «force» your company to honor it? A lack of trust, and I’m not getting in a plane with someone I don’t trust.
3. The «numerous fantastic reviews on Unilocal regarding the quality of our flight training and our customer service restores your confidence in Avel Flight School» have been posted by people with only 1 review and at the same time. One of the people lives in my city, Oak Park, and two of the other people live in the same town, Elmhurst. I wonder why they only have one review, all posted at the same time, and the places they live are the same. Seem suspicious to me.
There is no reason for you to «remain perplexed» by my review. You offered a Groupon, I contacted you to make sure I understood the details, you reneged on the offer, asked me to purchase directly through you and changed the terms of the pilot training. Then you replied to my review including four «reviews» citing how great the school was. If anyone is «perplexed», it’s me.
Your explanation, and the «numerous positive reviews» actually reinforce my belief that trust is no more important than when I’m learning to fly. If the earth was on fire and the only way to survive was to fly, and yours was the only school available to learn how to fly, I’d choose to perish because at least I’d control my own destiny versus entrusting it to you.
I look forward to NOT hearing from you again. Alas, I’m confident there will be another reply from you. However, I’m not going to reply again because it would be a further waste of my time, and I’ve already wasted more time on this than is necessary. The ONLY reason I’m posting this is so that other people understand what actually happened. I’m moving on.
