1925 — Walter Ahlgrim drove the new Cunningham Touring car as the 1st Flower Car
1928 — New Chapel built at 5701 Division Street in Chicago
1939 — New Addition to 5701 Division Street
1944 — Walter Ahlgrim retires
1959 — Robert Ahlgrim receives his license and joins the firm
1971 — Schaumburg location is opened
1986 — James Ahlgrim receives his license and joins the firm
2011 — Kathleen Ahlgrim receives her license and joins the firm
Meet the Business Owner
James A.
Business Owner
Jim is a fourth generation funeral director. He is the son of Robert and Elaine Ahlgrim, the grandson of Walter, and great grandson of Arthur. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI in 1984. Keeping with family tradition, James also attended Worsham College of Mortuary Science in 1988 and has been a licensed funeral director with Ahlgrim & Sons Funeral and Cremation Services ever since. His commitment to helping others goes beyond his work. He is a past president and active member of the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Rotary Club since 1993. He is married to Kathy with three children. Jim has lived in Schaumburg since 1973 and in Hoffman Estates since 1987. He is a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Schaumburg and his wife and family are active members of Holy Family Catholic Church in Inverness.
