After getting 3 trees removed in the last year, I can tell you this is the only place that answers the phone regularly, returns messages same day, and gives quotes within 24 hours. They took out a medium pear tree from our backyard with no problem, hauled all the wood away, and mulched the stump. The yard afterwards was very clean. The tree was surrounded by a brick path, deck, and lights, and they managed to keep everything undamaged. Pricing is reasonable. Insured and bonding info given without even asking. They’re definitely the most professional.

Had these people out for tree trimming and gutter cleaning. They were late with the appointment, never received a call. They didnt even ring my doorbell when they arrived, they just hopped our fence and started work. It’s a good thing our dog wasnt out in the yard. They didnt even say they were done they just left. When I went out to check the work, they didnt do a good job, they never cut the branches that were over my roof, which was discussed and included in the estimate. I had to call them back to finish trimming the tree… which took another 3 days for them to come back out and finish the original work ordered. I would steer clear of this place.

I felt I had to write today because we were handled so quickly and efficiently. This is my second experience with Ackerman and I highly recommend them. Two years ago, it was for a tree that was hit by the Ash Borer Beetle. They took down a huge tree and it did not fall into the neighbor’s yard – the care and skill was something to watch! They cleared out everything, chipped the trees and departed. There was very little left behind but the ground-​down trunk. This weekend the snow storm hit and unexpectedly we had a tree fall in our yard. It was in two parts and the portion that remained threatened to fall onto our neighbor’s house. I called on Saturday (5 pm), got a return call on Sunday (before 10 am) and by Monday morning they came and took down the tree.

Now Paul the owner continues to fabricate stories. No vicious dogs. Funny the 13 year old Labador wasn’t scary to the crew in May. Only after the threatening voicemail from Mike demanding the Unilocal review taken down did the 13 year old dog become vicious !!! STILL HAVE THREATNING VOICEMAIL ANYONE INTERESTED IN HEARING THE ACKERMAN EXTORTION DEMAND? Mario’s tree service is the way to go much cheaper. And no THREATNING voicemails.

When hubs and I first bought our house we thought oh hey — there are two apple trees in the backyard, how cool? Fast forward just a few weeks post move in and the «cool» apple trees became the bane of our outdoor existence. Not only did the trees bear not-​so-​tasty fruit, but the fallen fruit quickly rotted on the ground in the late summer heat, inviting tons o’ bees and wasps. Awesome.
Now that spring has arrived we decided to axe (pun!) the apple trees and three junipers that crowded our patio. Good thing one of our friendly neighbors is Mike Ackerman — tree aficionado. In just a few days Mike assessed the area, provided a very reasonable quote, and scheduled his team to rid us of our annoying arbors. The team worked quickly, cleanly, and professionally. Now we can actually see and thus enjoy our extra large yard.
If you need any kind of tree work, definitely call Ackerman for a quote.

I had a blue spruce that went down in my front yard from the storm over the weekend. I called Ackerman after getting an outrageous estimate from Abbott Tree Care and Mike was at my house within 20 minutes and his crew was then here within the hour. Not only did they remove the spruce but 3 others and the total for all of it was less than the $ 1500 estimate from Abbott. They were done in a few hours and cleaned up after themselves, they raked the areas around the trees. I wish Unilocal had 10 stars to give as I would give them all. I will give their # to everyone I know and use them whenever I have more tree/​yard needs.

I wish every business was as awesome as Ackerman’s! My neighbor was having a tree removed & we they recommended Ackerman Tree service to us to remove two old apple trees that were causing some problems in our back yard. We called, received a call back right away, & Mike came out & gave us an estimate that afternoon. They removed both trees the next day in under an hour & they left my yard clean! They ground the stumps & even left us a little wood for our firepit (we talked about that previously). They even remembered to close the gate on the way out. I thought for sure there would be some kind of necessary damage to the lawn or yard, which would be very understandable, but there was none. It was like magic almost! Trees gone, yard looks great! Their fees were incredibly reasonable too.
This is a great business & I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you!

We recently had Ackerman come out to remove a bush, grind some stumps, and assess a split tree, which also had to be removed. The owner was able to come over the same day I called to make an estimate and his price was very fair. They were able to come over within a few days to perform the work. If you are not home, they are able to do the work and leave an invoice, which is great. It took them less than an hour to perform the work and they thoroughly cleaned everything up. I’ll definitely call them again if I need similar work in the future.
My only complaint is minor, and that is that their truck left a lot of oil stains on my driveway. Not something I’d fault them for, but keep it in mind if you’re concerned about oil stains on your driveway.
