Very pleased, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. When the food arrived it looked almost too good to eat and was very flavorful. Definitely plan to return!

If there is one thing I know, it’s thai food in Maine. This place was not good. I’ve had worse, hence the two stars, but I truly do not understand all the good reviews. Maybe the chef just had a bad night. I got the spicy basil(as always — I know, it’s a recurring theme) and pad thai. My husband got the green curry(as always). Bland. No salt or heat and I always order 3– or 4-star at a new place. Veggies were overcooked, and everything was so so greasy. Because there are definite good thai places in the Portland area … we won’t be rushing to this one, ever.

Really really really really good food. The owner and staff really care about every customer Thai food experience. I know the owner personally and I know firsthand that his dedication on improving his culinary skills is second to NONE! I’m so admired by his inspiration to create new dishes. The first time he cooked me his Chicken Satay, he said that it’s the best in the world and boy he wasn’t LYING! It’s the most tender chicken and it melts in your mouth. The peanut sauce has the peanut chunks in them. Another thing that separates this place from other Thai restaurants is their attention to detail because they make sure each plate is presented beautifully. I suggest you try the yellow curry seafood stir-fry!

Stopped here with my adult daughter. The waiter forgot to bring her Thai iced tea until the meal was almost over. Most places would apologize and re-offer a nonalcoholic beverage like this without charge. About this time some pleasant parents with a well behaved pre-schooler walked in, and although the place was not that busy, the waiter told the family that the food preparation time might be too long for a child to wait(they walked back out). As for the food, typical for unimposing casual Thai restaurants but I’ve usually experienced better at others of this category. Lunch portions in the menu are not offered on Sunday although the menu does not state this. In summary, could be better.

I love the food here. We usually eat take out for dinner. Today I tried it for lunch and wasn’t impressed. Not only was it terribly expensive but the portion was so small I wouldn’t ever call it a kids meal. It will be a long time before I go back there.

Solid takeout, easy to order, good and friendly service. I picked up a couple of pad thais, a yellow chicken curry, and some Thai-style iced tea for a meeting with some colleagues. The place was doing fairly steady business, so must keep the locals happy! Everything was ready when I arrived, and the cashier was friendly taking my payment. The dinners and drinks were well-packed and easy to carry out to the car. This is a go-to place for my colleagues who enjoyed their pad thai. My curry was great, not too salty, plenty of chicken and vegetables. The Thai iced tea definitely wasn’t for me, far too sweet, but I loved the flavor of the tea that came through all the milk. I wouldn’t hesitate to order black iced tea, if it were made from the same leaves. I liked the long, narrow set up of the restaurant and its décor. I wouldn’t mind stopping in to eat on my own next time.

Used to love this place but now it’s terrible. Old menu was far superior, better tasting and with fresh ingredients. Orange chicken I had tonight I was lacking flavor, runny and I’m pretty sure was made from frozen chicken fingers. Vegetables also seem frozen and were overcooked. Food is very overpriced.

There may be better out there somewhere, but Thai 9 is as good as it gets that we’ve found. Very fresh and tasty. We’re frequent take-out customers and haven’t had a hiccup yet. Love, love love it!

Thai 9 is our favorite spot for thai in the Portland area. Why it’s not actually located in downtown Portland like it deserves is a mystery; a mini strip mall next to a Cabelas is the last place you’d expect to find food like this. I’ve been here maybe a dozen times in the past year, rarely ordering the same thing twice, and I’ve always enjoyed my meals,(thai iced tea, crab rangoons, spring rolls, tempura, satay, curry, fried rice, pad thai, kau gai, sweet & sour, cashew nut, etc). The presentation seems a step above other places as well. Last night my girlfriend’s yellow curry chicken was a bit odd though. The chicken was tender and fell apart in your mouth, but it was kind of rubbery/squeaky? Just a strange consistency, like it had been marinading in coconut milk(maybe?) for too long. Also, the music is all over the place. One night it’s Miley Cyrus and the top 40, the next it’s Louis Armstrong and friends. Never know what you’re going to get. The staff is very nice though. Reasonably priced as well, for how good the food is. If this place were closer to my work, I’d be there all the time.

Food was delicious. We enjoyed Thai iced teas, two curries and fried rice. It was all excellent. The restaurant was very clean and the décor is simple. The service was excellent.

It’s good, but a little pricey. I got the pad Thai & order of egg rolls = $ 21, a bit much for 1 person. It’s very clean & nice looking. The staff is quick & friendly. I’ll go again…

Fresh tasting food, clean dishes and cooked to perfection! This was my second time trying Thai food and it was exceptional! The only thing is there was only the one lady working the entire place but she kept our drinks coming. The only really negative is when the male staff came in for his shift he stood next to our table staring and repetitively asking if were done and for the check.

A frequent takeout flyer of Thai9, I decided last night was the night to actually go sit down and eat, which I’m really glad I did. I’m going to make a pro’s list, simply because I found no ‘cons.’ None. A miracle, I know. 1. The interior is bright, clean, stylish, and simple. Also, my own kitchen is painted blue and green so the validation that I have some sort of style was welcomed. 2. Massive water glasses. I drink a lot of water, what of it? 3. Our food was plated BEAUTIFULLY! We started with crab rangoons and steamed pork dumplings(both Chinese dishes, but whatever) and they were perfect. I had Veranda on Thursday and these dumplings were better. By far. Boyfriend raved about the crab. 4. Good allergy awareness. I have a peanut allergy and my boyfriend got beef Pad Thai with ‘no peanuts.’ Well. They forgot that part, BUT our very good server let us know what happened and that it was fixed, and that’s the difference between life and death so HIGHFIVE! 5. They’re consistent. I always get curry with tofu and it’s always perfect. Bright. Colorful. Crisp veggies. Love it. 6. Cleanliness. Clean tables, clean floors, clean bathrooms. 7. Service! Both servers were friendly, engaging, professional, and attentive. You could tell they were happy to be there. Asaaaaaaaaaand that’s a wrap! Thai9, you have cemented my love for you. Yippie!

Been coming here for years. Last time here was our first time under new ownership and nothing had changed. Everything was still just as awesome. Today however was a different story. Food quality has diminished a bit. Also, we were told that because it’s a Saturday, we could only get dinner portions at lunchtime. We were fine with this as we were very hungry. Lunch came out and it was definitely not a dinner sized portion… more of a lunch sized portion at a dinner sized price. I can only assume that to decrease costs, portion sizes have decreased. Very disappointing. We are going to the BBQ place next time. At least there you won’t starve to death.

New owners, same great food, but much quicker and now they deliver! Tonight We ordered to yum soup that came with delicious big creamy cubes of tofu, crunchy fresh spring rolls, crispy fried tofu and shrimp pad Thai. Everything was very, very good! Add delivery into the mix and this restaurant has been promoted from a once in a while treat to take out regular.

I have heard nothing but good things about this place. I’m not sure if it was an off-day or what, but I wish that had a better experience on my wife’s and my July 3 lunchtime visit. Service is fast and staff is friendly. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. We ordered tempura vegetables, chicken pad thai, and chicken drunken noodles. Tempura veggies were very thick cuts, which meant they were raw and difficult to eat. Tempura batter was under seasoned. The chicken in both meals was overcooked/bone dry. Drunken noodles dish was good but noodles were undercooked and chewy. The pad thai was under seasoned. Given the reputation of the restaurant I was expecting better. There is better Thai food in the area than what I experienced. Bua Thai in Old Orchard Beach stands out as one. The biggest turn off, though, was a foul-mouthed customer sitting at the counter. Multiple F-bombs and other swearing loud enough to carry through the restaurant, including tables with small children. The next time my waitress came to the table, I mentioned it to her. Her response: «I know. He’s had a couple of glasses of wine.» i had to remind her that there are children in the restaurant. She said she’d speak with him. When she returned with the check she said, «We’re going to talk to him when he’s leaving.» It appears that management would rather address problems after the fact instead of when the situation is occurring and actually affecting the dining experience for other guests.

My boyfriend and I decided to try this Thai restaurant since we just moved up here a week ago. They will ask you how hot you want your food and I went for 4 out of 5 for spiciness. I really enjoy great Thai food and make sure I try some every where I go. This place really surprised my taste buds because I was having Thai withdrawals ever since a few months ago. When I walked in, I was really glad to see how clean and inviting it is for a Thai restaurant. There was a bar area and plentiful seating. Aside from the look of the place, the portions are a great size for take out. I regret snapping a photo, but I finished everything in two days. I had the Spicy Basil Beef with Jasmine White Rice. The dish was perfect because it had the right amount of veggies and spicy basil to go with the rice. Go there for lunch or dinner because you won’t regret it!

My son ordered chicken pad thai with two stars and a little spicier than expected. I had the mango curry with two stars and it was a little bit under spiced. However, both still tasted good. Very fast and friendly service.
