Let me first say repowering your boat is a daunting task as it is. Especially when you are doing it a few hundred miles from home… I had been looking at either an e-​tec or a merc with a jet drive. After calling around the Portland area and getting the run around from the other dealers about why I should buy their brand I stumbled on channel marine! From the gate Marilyn was extremely informative especially being a dealer of both evinrude and mercs she gave me her honest opinion of both which ultimately led me the way i was originally leaning, to the e-​tec. When it came time to install the motor they worked tirelessly around my tight schedule and got me on the water for the one weekend I had before I was leaving the state for a work trip! Further more I had a couple modifications to do to my trailer I could only do with the boat off. When they river tested the boat they left it tied up till I had completed the mods. They also managed to install fuel lines to my new and existing tanks in the amount of time already alloted to the motor install and only charged me for the parts!
A couple of months later I had a warrantee issue with the motor. They then managed to squeeze me in during an extremely busy week and at least diagnose the problem in the hopes of getting me back on the water without making two trips down there. In the end I had to come back to get the boat later, but they had done EVERYTHING in there power to get me out as fast as possible! I would and do recommend Channel marine to everyone looking for an honest, down to earth, friendly, family run business with knowledgable tecs, Who will take care of you and stand by their work! If I could leave negative stars, I would… Two — three hour round trips to investigate a «no start» issue on a 2014 E-​TEC without diagnosis. The next time the boat was in water, had to be towed (for same no-​start issue) to the dock (ten minutes from their shop). We were told by the owner, they were two weeks out and it was «not their problem» even though they had two chances to fix and could not even diagnosis. They told us it was a low voltage issue. Turns out we were able to bump the key and tap the solenoid with a screwdriver and get it fired, thus getting us home safely. Now that we have self-​diagnosed the problem, we will be taking to a reputable dealer to be repaired. Don’t waste your time here. They don’t know what they are doing and will not stand behind their work.

Have worked with Greg the owner on many occasions now, he has been very honest and straightforward with me on every repair/​transaction. He is also very knowledgeable and reasonable on his rates, shop around if you want but his rates are wonderful compared to anyone else in the area. People drive a couple hours or motor there boat for many hours one way to bring their boats to him for a reason…

I really appreciate Greg’s honesty and the fact he speaks the facts. Great guy, great service. The price was very reasonable as well. I’ll be back for sure with my boat.
