True Grits

WARNING DO NOT SHOP HERE IF YOU HAVE KIDS!!!
My wife went in to purchase a book after we had just waited two hours for a mediocre meal next door. After that long wait, our almost 2 year old was tired, cranky and throwing a fit. I was outside with our screaming child when my wife overheard the store clerk tell another woman that he couldn’t believe parents would let their child be out that late (845 est but we’re from Chicago so that’s 745 cst to us) and also saying who would let their child scream like that. I’m proud of my wife for not decking the clerk, as I might of.
Any parent can relate to a 2 year old tantrum and how difficult it can be, but true grits hires staff that judges with ignorance. Rudely.
Savannah has been our vacation destination over a dozen times in the past 6 years and we typically steer clear of river street, but true grits will NEVER get our business and I urge any sympathetic parent who can relate to our story to steer clear as well. I mean the same goods are in the next door down the street, spend your money there.
Zero stars if possible.

I’m a true grit and I had a few along with me so this seemed like a cute place to drop into. Great little tourist souvenir shop to grab something that said Savannah or something to highlight that you’d be drinking and wearing green. It also seemed to specialize in all things country. Plenty of cowboy hats, screen print t-​shirts, fake guns, and ideal things on the walls that make great backgrounds for selfies. I could have bought up the place if I didn’t want to keep my hands ready for another drink.

Fun store. They have all sorts of stuff in here. They have all the Savannah souvenirs that you would need as a tourist. But they also have plenty of other stuff. My husband likes to get t-​shirts where ever we go and this place had some of the best selection for both men and women. The prices were also good compared to some of the other shops we went in. The employees were also helpful. One woman went and spent a significant amount of time finding my husband a shirt in the color/​size combination that he wanted. Definitely stop by here for all things Savannah.

This is a fun touristy gift shop along River St.
It’s a nice place to stop in to get out of the heat and spend money on kitschy things while you’re bar hopping in the touristy part of Savannah.

I loved this place for inexpensive (yet not cheap feeling) Tshirts. Judging by my receipt, I found a LOT of Tshirts! The people were very friendly as well! Open late on a Friday night (it seemed late anyway), I was happy to find it!
