Savannah Day Spa

This was my first visit to the spa and I’m a Savannah local. The spa is a large historic home right in the historic district. The ladies at the front desk we’re welcoming and friendly. I did a 30 minute facial and it was pure bliss! I’m already excited to plan my next appointment.

Just had a first time facial here this morning after a week in Savannah of non stop food, drinks and sight seeing. Great way to wind down and treat yourself a little bit. The facial was relaxing and the woman who did it was very sweet and funny. Both my husband and I did a 30 min express facial for $ 55 but she still took her time which was nice. Ended up being closer to 45 mins each. I would definitely come back again.

My husband bought me a four hour package for my birthday. It included a massage, facial, manicure, and pedicure. While the massage and facial were both adequate the manicure and pedicure were extremely lacking. The manicurist acted as if she had never done a manicure before. She was doing things all out of order, afraid to use the nippers, and was trying to use a nail polish that was so thick it was clumpy. It was definitely not worth the expense. The building is beautiful, and the staff were very nice, but the services were not all that fantastic.

I was blown away with the treatment I received at Savannah Day Spa. The staff was so polite, sweet and accommodating. The actual space was a immensely beautiful, unique, calming and relaxing. The actual services were incredible, lengthy and detailed, not to mention lunch was divine! I left the spa feeling like a new, better, calmer and more beautiful version of myself. I am going to use my experience at this spa as inspiration to take better care of myself in the future. I can’t thank the girls enough, I honestly feel amazing.

Amazingly beautiful spa in the heart of Savannah. My husband and I went in for a couples massage. It was very relaxing and we both walked out feeling amazing. I got a prenatal massage and my husband had a therapeutic massage. The whole place was very clean hey and smelled amazing! They made us feel very comfortable and we will definitely be repeat customers every time we visit Savannah! Great company!

I made an appointment for a massage at the Savannah Day Spa after my manicurist recommended it. I got the time I wanted, and at the last minute they were able to extend my massage from 60 minutes to 90 minutes without issue. When I walked in the receptionist greeted me very pleasantly and I was offered a mimosa. What a nice surprise after a long day at work!!!
Kathy was fantastic. She took me upstairs, discussed what I was looking for out of the massage, and any concerns I had, and then she went to work. It was an extremely relaxing yet invigorating massage with lotions that were not oily. The dim lights and the relaxing music were the icing on the cake!!!
I made a second appointment as I checked out and can’t wait for my next massage!!!

What a great experience! My husband and I had a couples massage. Our therapists were Kathy and Hannah. They were very professional and made us feel very comfortable. They both gave excellent massages! We really appreciated the lotions that they used. It didn’t leave you feeling slimy. What they did not realize with some of the instrument music that they were playing reminded us of when we first started dating. As for the location, it is awesome. Positioned on historic downtown Savannah in a 18^th century house-​absolutely beautiful!

I called the day before and they were able to have therapist come in early to give four of us a massage at the same time at 9:30. Everyone of us love it. The place was beautiful, we had 3 males and 1 female and it was amazing. Great service, friendly staff, respectful people all together.

I took my sister to Savannah Day Spa for her first ever visit to a day spa. I myself have been to Savannah Day Spa and others many times before. I was utterly disappointed in the services received. I booked spa packages for us and they provided no refreshments for a four hour visit. My massage therapist was terrible and seemingly inexperienced. Her technique was abrasive. I was on edge throughout the whole ordeal. The room was freezing and she was streaming «spa music» into the room that had advertisements after every few songs. No one wants to hear a commercial about HIV during a relaxing spa day.
My facial wasn’t that much better. I asked for an extra blanket because the room was freezing.
The nail room was gross. The sink where patrons are expected to wash their hands was dirty and covered with a grey film. A 409 cleaning bottle and dirty rag hung on the pipe underneath the sink in plain site. The towels used on patrons are ratty (torn and shredded), discolored/​stained, and come in every color of the rainbow. It again was freezing in this room as well and I had to ask for a robe to put on. The pedicure chairs are awful. They had rips and tears in them with the stuffing/​foam sticking out. The foot basins were dirty and the chairs at the nail stations were old, mismatched and cruddy. I did not want to sit in one of them.
I requested to speak with the owner. She barged into the room like a bull in a china shop (not kidding). She started demanding that the employee show her the «ratty» towels I made referenced to. She attempted to fold a towel underneath itself to hid the frayed edges. I attempted to explain my experience to her but she began defending her staff and the services they typically provide. She was so hostile that I had to put my hands up and back away from her. I told her I was not looking for a fight and that I would not engage in the conversation if she was not open to feedback. She permitted me to explain my experience but then asked if I read the notice given to me at the time of check in in full. I told her that I did not read it line by line and that’s when she told me, «that’s why I am mad at you». She went on to state spa policies and complained about her staff not following through with spa expectations. She also stated at some point in the conversation, «well, this is not the Wesitn». She is right about that and will not have to worry about me ever coming back to her place of business. I was completely unsatisfied with the services I received and the reception to the feedback I offered to the owner. I left the spa full of tension and hungry due to only being offered lukewarm water from a dirty glass.

When I travel I like to take a little time for myself because I’m terrible at doing this at home. After our trip was booked to Savannah, I began researching spas that offer package deals and I found this one but boy, I regret the carelessness in my research. I know I could have found better.
My first two services were okay. Cathy helped with these: a body scrub and a prenatal massage. Both were done on a zero-​gravity table, which was fine but at one point in the massage, the table began burning me. Not kidding. I politely tried inching away from the heating source before having to ask to be repositioned and request that the heater be turned off. When I touched the area of my thigh that had direct contact with the heat source, was really bad. I never imagined that happening on a massage table… anyway it was really painful and Cathy should have known better than to leave it on for more than a couple of minutes, if at all.
The final service, a facial, was done by another employee. I can’t remember her name. She was on crutches and within the first five minutes of meeting her I learned nearly every bad thing that had happened in life to her (including her moving woes and issues with a storage facility). Not that I don’t empathize or feel for her but it’s sort of the opposite thing you want to discuss when you’re trying to decompress and just relax for a few hours.
The facial experience was TERRIBLE but the results were good (I have really dry skin and I felt a lot more hydrated after) but I’ve never been so beaten up during a facial ever. She pawed at me with heavy, clumsy hands that lifted my jowls and eyelids with nearly every upward motion. I had exfoliator in my mouth that stuck in my teeth for an hour or so after. And luckily I wore glasses… so I could cry out the exfoliator on my own time before having to put my contacts in.
She also did some really weird things with pressure points that were completely ineffective and just downright painful. It was totally unnecessary but if I had the balls to have said something, I would have just asked her to stop and send in someone else. I just didn’t think she knew what she was doing. Or she was on painkillers or something (Remember the crutches? Her foot was shattered, so I learned.) And her head/​scalp massage almost made me feel like I was getting punked or something. I think my eighth month of pregnancy is making me incredibly zen.
My package ended after that and I was escorted downstairs for payment. At the reception desk I was asked how I enjoyed things. My response, «The first two services were okay but that facial was ROUGH!» This by the way, was my premeditated idea of feedback which I had hoped would create some sort of dialogue and it was as if I didn’t say anything at all. The girl at the counter just told me my total due and waited for my card. So I gave it to her and tipped Cathy and the girl on crutches accordingly and left.
By the way, when I booked I requested a 12:15 appointment and received an emailed confirmation the day before for 10AM which I couldn’t do and never would have booked. When I called to switch it back to the intended time (noon hour) they were nice about it but following their lack of response to my negative feedback, I truly believe the folks at their reception desk are pretty clueless as well. When I came in, no one offered to take my coat or asked me if I needed the restroom before my services began. No one offered me a glass of water. I guess hospitality was something I thought I’d get if I was about to invest in three hours of services.
One highlight — no one upsold anything to me. In all my spa going experiences this was done with at some point but Savannah Day Spa employees apparently aren’t knowledgable or big enough fans of the products they use to take the time to do this when you visit. It’s kind of nice because you don’t walk out with stuff that you may not need, but still: would have been nice to hear what was being used on me and why. Either way, I didn’t have to deal with pushy salespeople which ended up being a relief following the beat down facial I had just endured.

Let me preface this review by saying that I used to work at a spa and am probably more picky than people who may not go to the spa very often.
After reading reviews from a bunch of different places, I booked a couples massage with another spa about a month in advance. The week before, I decided to call Savannah Day Spa after seeing their review in Southern Living Magazine and decided to book after the friendly service I received over the phone. A few things that made me switch initially:
1. She asked our preference of male or female therapist.
2. I booked a prenatal for myself and she asked how far along I was.
3. I called twice, once to book the massages and twice to confirm the morning of, and the phone call was answered.
None of the above happened when I booked at the first spa and all are super important questions that should be asked when booking, which is why I continued to look around. It took all afternoon to get someone on the phone of this other spa.
I definitely think we made the right decision. Our therapists, Nakeyia and Hannah, were fantastic. The service at the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. The spa was clean and beautiful and the room was a great for us. I liked that we had our own bathroom. It would have been nice to use the shower or tub after our massages but, had they been available, I probably wouldn’t have paid for the add on anyway. Overall, I’m very pleased with this spa and would go back again the next time we’re in town.

I booked a bachelorette party for my friend and her 6 bridesmaids two months in advance. We reserved a room and were promised 4 pedicure technicians. The entire appointment became an ordeal. They only had 2 technicians to work with us, they brought other people into our tiny little private room that was already hot and squeezed as it was, the pedicures were absolutely awful, and when I tried to talk to the staff they were rude, dismissive, passive aggressive and utterly terrible to deal with. I used to live in Savannah and loved Savannah Day Spa, but I will never, ever go there again and I hope you don’t either – save yourself from wasting your time, money and afternoon and find a walk-​in Korean place instead.
OH, and ALL THE NAIL POLISH IS OLD AS DIRT. Stop being cheap, Savannah Day Spa, and update your polish collection. No wonder everyone’s pedicures rubbed later that night.
Shameful.

Me and a friend went to Savannah Day spa yesterday for Brazilian waxes, let’s just say it was the absolute most horrible Brazilian wax I have ever gotten. It was painful, and there is still A LOT of hair remaining. They trick you with the dim lighting, but when I got home… I was highly disappointing. The young lady that provided me with service, however, was a peach. She just shouldn’t do the waxes. I should have went to Wax and Wane (even the aesthetician herself recommended it, I mean that’s not good business promotion.) but they were booked out for weeks. But I definitely will not be returning here, Wax and Wane does a fantastic, hairless, pain free job for $ 50.

Sum it up: You get what you pay for; pricey but excellent massages.
Couples massage: 1 massage therapist was very good and the other could have been a little better. Both were supposed to be deep tissue but his therapist was fairly gentle and we would definitely consider her more «therapeutic». Cost: $ 200
The environment was great. Beautiful buildings and the rooms were very clean and nice.

I have been coming to Savannah Day Spa for years and recommending it to friends the same. Some experiences have been 5 star some absolutely less than. The spa is set up in a renovated home which gives it a really charming ambiance, overall the place is gorgeous an very clean. I’ve had a number of treatments here, massage, facials, mud wrap, waxing, pedicure.
Without a doubt this is not the place to bother with your mani/​pedi. It takes too long and is too expensive.
Every other treatment I’ve had I’ve really enjoyed. Some therapists/​estheticians are certainly better than others but any time I’ve ever had an issue I expressed it immediately to the staff and they handled it appropriately.
Recently I took a girlfriend for a couples massage. Our massage therapists were kind and talented. This will always be my go to spa when in Savannah.

I went to get a mani/​pedi for my 19^th birthday. I normally don’t go to such a high end place for my nails, but it was my birthday, I was on vacation, and I wanted to treat myself. I looked up reviews on this place and several other places to make sure I would be getting good services for the money. I decided on the Savannah Day Spa, and went in for services that evening.
They called me and said I could come in 45 minutes earlier than my appointment time if I wanted, and since I was down the street I figured, why not? I went in but then ended up having to wait a half hour for my lady to be ready. Once she was finally ready, the lady started with my pedicure, then did my shellac manicure. She was very nice and friendly, and I was pleased with the service during the mani/​pedi.
However, problems began as soon as I left. She didn’t cure the shellac long enough and didn’t remove the tackiness. Everything I touched got stuck in my nail polish. After only several minutes, they were FILLED with fibers from my clothes, and looked absolutely terrible. The salon had closed for the night by then, so we couldn’t go back to complain. The fuzzies (thankfully) were able to be rubbed off by the next morning. My polish was also full of air bubbles, at least one on every nail. She did not coat the tips of my nails, so it has already started chipping (which should not happen with Shellac) and didn’t even cover the sides of my nails, so the polish stops way before reaching my skin. So those are all the problems (so far) with my Shellac.
I was pleased with the pedicure until I woke up this morning, and noticed it was already coming off the tips of my big toes. I got my nails done not even a full two days ago. I’ve payed half the price for virtually the same services, and had much better results. I ended up paying $ 120 for my mani/​pedi, and after not even a full two days, both my fingers and toes look terrible.
I’m going to return to the spa to complain (I am VERY unhappy), and if I can get my money back, I will be going to a different salon to get my nails redone. I would not recommend this place to anyone, I am extremely disappointed and basically threw away $ 120.

My husband and I recently travelled to Savannah to celebrate a milestone birthday. We are both in the farming industry, and hauling the hay and feeding the hogs takes quite a toll on our bodies. We decided to indulge and treat ourselves to a deep tissue couples massage. After a bit of research, I decided the Savannah Day Spa was the place to go. It was located within walking distance from our hotel in a historic, quaint house on a tree-​lined street. I immediately felt relaxed in the serene, comfortable atmosphere of the spa. We were quickly shown to our massage room. The massage itself was amazing, both my husband and I were on Cloud 9. The only hiccup that occurred was when my husband forgot to take off his socks. Who doesn’t take off their socks when they go for a massage? Silly man. His masseuse removed them for him, and all was well.
I highly recommend this spa, we were extremely pleased with our couples massage. We will definitely visit again when we are in Savannah!

This review is for the nail salon — not a massage
I went with a group as part of a bridal party for mani pedi’s the day before the wedding. the rehearsal for the wedding started at 6pm, and we arrived at the salon at 2pm anticipating to be done by 5. they had 3 staff members working on 7 girls. here is a summary of the issues we had:
1. they couldn’t find our booking when we showed up, and the bride had a print out of the reservation. they started 30 minutes late
2. the first manicure performed took TWO HOURS. for a regular manicure. the staff members were chatting the entire time and were in no hurry. this set us back further
3. the staff members kept recommending we do the shellac manicures because it was «faster». anyone who has ever been to a salon knows that shellac manicures take twice as long as regular manicures. some of the girls were polite and trusted the staff, and agreed to the shellac. there went another 1.5 — 2 hours per girl.
4. around 4:30, we started speaking up and telling the staff that we were on a schedule and really needed to be out by 5:30 at the latest. they did not hurry, they continued to recommend shellac
5. by 5:30, two of the bridesmaids still needed a manicure.
6. two from our party left without full services being performed, and they were late to the rehearsal. the staff did not apologize or care
7. for the girls that had the shellac and/​or regular mani pedi’s, the polish was chipping and coming off within 4 hours of leaving the salon.
when the bride called to complain and get a discount on the services, the salon was uncooperative and unapologetic. they didn’t even reimburse for 2 missing services.
not only was the customer service poor, but the results were also poor as most bridesmaids had taken off the polish by the next day.
save yourself time and money by going to a cheap salon for the trusty $ 20 mani/​pedi!

My boyfriend and I decided to schedule our first couples’ massage while we were visiting Savannah. The lady who scheduled our appointment was very polite and told us that someone would call to confirm our appointment a day or two ahead of time. When no one called, I got worried/​annoyed and contacted them to see what was up. Apparently there was some sort of mix up and they only scheduled a one person massage (even though they got both of our names? Did they think one of us was just going to hang out while the other one got a massage? I don’t get it…)
When we got to our appointment, the receptionist looked surprised that there were two of us. They made us wait while they found a second massage therapist, but then eventually led us up to the room. The spa is in an old house with very thin walls. Even though there are reminders to stay off your cell phone and use your «spa voice,» these rules are not enforced. I heard people clomping around the halls and talking outside our room the whole time which really ruined the ambiance. The room had two massage beds, a bath tub (more on that later), but no real changing area… just a chair in the corner where we could throw our clothes.
We both enjoyed our massages, but apparently there was no communication between the therapists about time; my boyfriend’s massage therapist was keeping the time so when she said time was up my massage ended abruptly. My right arm was being worked on and my left arm hadn’t even been touched. The part that annoyed me the most was that on the website, they say «What sets us apart is that when you come as a couple you stay together, change together, bathe together, spend no moments apart.» We did get to change together in a cramped dark corner, but there was no option to bathe after our massages (separately or together, for that matter). We felt rushed to get in and get out, which didn’t live up to the romantic expectations that the website gave us.
The worst part was when we were checking out at the front desk, I asked the receptionist to add a tip to the bill. The amount of money I asked her to add would work out to be about an 18% tip for each massage therapist. Apparently the receptionist thought that wasn’t good enough because she said, «Oh, you want them to split that?»
Due to the other reviews, it seems my bad experience was unique, but I still can’t recommend this spa and I definitely won’t return.

I have been coming here for 3 years and have not had a bad experience. The ambiance is calming and I always come out feeling great.
I would highly recommend Brittney if you are going for a wax. She makes you feel very comfortable and she is really thorough.
