Savannah Bed and Breakfast Inn

My wife and I spent three nights at this very well redone B&B in the historic district of Savannah. The staff was exceptional and the rooms were decorated perfectly. Breakfast was well done and the location was close enough to the River Walk but far enough to be very quiet. We stayed in Lane cottage which gave you very private quarters but we’re a 30 second walk outside to the main dining room, warm cookies and other older couples. The only problem we had was with the slow internet, so we had to set up a personal hotspot from our cell phones. I can’t wait to go back.

Wonderful breakfast: Different specials each day with daily option of eggs cooked to order any way you like and side of fruit, bacon, or sausage. What a treat!
Other amenities: Iced water with fruit available ²⁴⁄₇. Afternoon tea with pastries and cookies in the evening with milk.
Grounds: Wonderful courtyards with fountain, guest fridge and microwave, lovely house cats.
Other: Wonderfully comfy room and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Free Wifi
Overall: Recommend without any hesitation!

The location and amenities were above average. The front staff was great. The rest of the stay needs grand improvements.
My girlfriend and I flew in from California and stayed here for the well overpriced cost of 250 dollars for a night. Whatever, it’s a bed and breakfast close to downtown. The price was reasonable but too high for what was provided. We hit the town that evening after checking in and slept in a bit after our evening out and missed the designated time for breakfast… We filled out a form the prior night for breakfast to be served around 9am I believe but we woke up a little after. we proceeded to the kitchen and was told that we missed breakfast and that they would try to make us something which was kind of them to do. However, while they prepared our scraps (really bad) they came outside where we were seated and lectured us on being on time and how we were holding up the staff. NOT once, but TWICE. another gentleman came out to tell us the exact same lecture. It was like being part of Groundhog Day but no one was laughing and Bill Murray was no where to be seen.
This bed and breakfast needs to get there staff under control and realize sometimes people are late and we didn’t force them to provide breakfast.
Will never return…

A trip to Savannah has always been on my travel bucket-​list, and with a friends’ wedding nearby, this was the perfect opportunity. I’ve always had an incredibly romantic image of this town, as I’m sure many people do, and was pleasantly surprised to find that is was very charming, indeed. With your pick of B&B’s and hotels throughout the downtown area, it was a hard choice narrowing them down. Our needs? Inexpensive (comparatively — some places charge upwards of $ 300 a night? Are my towels dipped in GOLD?!), close to the action, and breakfast that doesn’t include pre-​packaged pastries. I am so glad we found Savannah Inn Bed & Breakfast, because it offered so much more than what we thought we needed.
First, I did not know before coming to Savannah that free street parking is a thing of the past. Naïve perhaps, but I had hopes of finding some. Nope. «SIBB,» we’ll call it, offers complimentary parking passes to guests who 1) Stay more than 2 nights 2) Stay during the week. Remember that. I know that they put quarters in for you on the day you check out, and they have a nice system of marking your parking space so they know which to pay. They will explain it all.
Second thing I did not know I needed, Bedtime milk & cookies, and Afternoon tea. Sweet tea is serious in the south, and it was nice to drop into the main building for sweets throughout our trip. PS the rooms are scattered throughout 3 – 4 brownstones, and the main building is marked with a flag.
Third, a made-​to-​order breakfast. Served by waitstaff. On an insanely cute porch overlooking their courtyards. With cats. I never would have known just how much I looked forward to that each day. The food was pretty great, and you can order as much food as you want! BUT you must mark it the night before on your food ticket in the main building. Also, note that there are time slots you ‘sign up for’ when you turn in your ticket, so the place doesn’t feel like Black Friday at the mall when you’ve still got drool on your face before you first cup of joe.
We stayed in the Pulaski room (a value room) and it was really all we needed. It had AC, a TV, a reading chair, a huge bed, and somehow we wound up with a bathroom the size of the room. It was definitely worn, but it was clean and the room was cozy. The view was nothing, but we knew that would be the case. There are 3 tiers of rooms, I’d recommend the 2^nd tier, unless you are used to high-​end accommodations, and try to get a view of Chatham Square, it would definitely add to the whole experience.
Get out and explore Savannah — the waterfront is definitely TOURIST CENTRAL, but worth a walk-​through. All the gems are scattered throughout, and really all you need to do is take a stroll and they will find you. The locals are the sweetest, and most were excited to draw us up a list of their favorite spots. We took their advice and were so glad we did. We would definitely give SIBB another go next time we head south from chilly MN!

The rooms are very cute. Not for tall people as I’ve hit the ceiling fan twice. Breakfast was great, but the front desk staff is not very friendly.

We loved everything about this charming 19^th century town home set in time with all of the modern day luxury conveniences. The rooms were lovely with beautiful hard wood floors, exposed brick walls, updated bathroom, high ceilings, that led out to a private patio. The staff leaves out afternoon tea, snacks, cake, peach flavored water, and cookies and milk before bed. The inn is across from Chatham square, near forsythe park and a short walking distance from everything that beautiful Savannah has to offer. We will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend this to family and friends.

Not impressed. We paid $ 169 for one night and have had better hotel rooms with free breakfast for half the price. My husband and I stayed in the Mercer room. The bath tub felt like it was going to fall through the floor and it was extremely slippery even with the slip proof mat in the tub. The water went from scalding hot to ice cold with no middle ground. The bed was very uncomfortable and there is rather small. The bed frame is way larger than the mattress so you can’t help but smash your legs on it, I have many bruises. The overall ambiance is very nice. I loved the historic feel of the building and the room. We had a back door to our room that went out onto a roof patio that had stairs down to the breakfast patio which was very cute. The staff members were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was underwhelming. I got the egg white omelette (delicious) that came with toast (one piece of dry wheat bread, had to ask for butter) and a side of seasonal fruit (the smallest piece of watermelon I’ve ever seen… I’ve had larger «sides of fruit» in a cocktail). My husband also received dry toasted bread and had to ask twice for the bacon and sausage that was supposed to come with his breakfast.
I would not stay here again, especially for the price. Rather disappointed.

This was our first time in Savannah and our first time at this B&B. Both the city and the B&B lived up to what we had been told. The B&B staff was helpful and nice; the breakfasts were good and the room was beautiful. My one (very minor) complaint was that the stairs leading down to our courtyard and up to our room were a little overgrown. Didn’t bother us much but that could definitely turn people off of this particular B&B.
This B&B is a quick walk from Forsyth Park, a few SCAD buildings and the Synagogue– but then again it’s a short walk from one side of the historic district to the other…

We stayed two nights with the Summer Special. The first night we were in the Red Cottage. It was a fantastic two-​story with living space downstairs (with a pull out couch and two chairs for seating and a mini fridge and microwave). The sleeping area and bath were upstairs. The second night, we’re in the Azalea room, which consisted of two rooms. One room had a nice seating area with two chairs and it had the bathroom. The second room had a bed, a couple of tables, and a smaller chair. Both rooms were nicely decorated and clean. Check out their pictures, not doing it justice.
Also, the staff was very friendly and made suggestions on things to do and places to eat. The breakfasts were delicious and be sure to try the afternoon tea and the milk/​cookies!

Stayed here two summers ago and it was absolutely wonderful. The staff was amazing, the room was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was very good. Within walking distance to Forsyth Park which is absolutely gorgeous and if you like walking it’s a very beautiful walk to almost any location. Also extremely easy to get to Tybee Island from here.
I loved it here so much, I’m going back this summer and taking my fiancé. I can’t wait, I’m so excited!

Second visit here, and just as perfect! The beds are very comfortable, the breakfast is delicious and the staff treats you like a favored friend. It is a very comfortable atmosphere, coffee is available all day.
The rooms are lovely and spacious, the bathrooms are just big enough with plenty of towels and toiletries.
Be aware there are steps – a lot. There is absolutely NO access to anything without a few steps, street level is down two steps. Most of those rooms have access to the courtyard for breakfast but you have to let them know you are there, the staff will bring it to you.
Order breakfast the day before, the staff is very accommodating to special requests. And the food is great. Take your coffee over to Chatham square in the Togo cup provided and enjoy the view.
This visit they were completely booked, yet we felt like we were the most important guest. The staff has guest service perfected!

For the price and the good location in the heart of Savannah, this is a sweet place. We did the innkeepers special for two nights and were placed in the Treetop room which is up three flights of stairs from street level. No biggie except for hauling up our medium size suitcase up the slightly narrow old stairwells. The room was nice and has a little kitchen area with a microwave, sink, and fridge. Also a three seat table and a couple chairs in the living/​dining area with a TV. Nice queensize bed which was pretty firm which we liked. The headboard is up against the windows facing the street and they aren’t very insulating of temp or noise… a little drafty. I actually thought the window was open as i could hear outside so clearly but it is an old brownstone so that’s part of the charm for sure. Bathroom was fine but not much space to put your bathroom things out. Free in room Wifi had some issues when it rained but was fast when it worked.
Now i’ll talk about the second B, breakfast. We enjoyed two and they were both nicely done… french toast and then eggs benedict with juice and coffee in a communal dining area in the main entry house. They also serve a nice array of warm tasty cookies at 8 pm each evening. Get em and then head out for drinks and walk around the beautiful historic city.
Parking was a snap as there was a decent amount of available spaces and the hotel takes care of the meter with quarters on travel days and parking passes on full days.
Relative stayed in the Azalea room which is on second floor and has two queen beds in two rooms with the second being a main room with chairs and a TV and bathroom. View is out the back which is nothing special at all. You’ll have to walk through 1^st bedroom to get to 2^nd bedroom.
Great and very hospitable hotel staff. You’ll enjoy your stay. It’s quaint and reasonably priced.

What a gem! The rooms are beautiful, staff is extremely nice and helpful, and they have gingerbread and brownies waiting for you. I couldn’t be more pleased.
Tons of character and way quieter than the riverfront, which is only a 10 minute walk away.

There are a few things this B&B has going for it: it’s very conveniently located in the historic district, almost everything is within walking distance, and the staff here are very friendly. We stayed for three nights in the Blue Cottage.
I found our cottage to be surface clean. I just had an icky feeling about the carpet that made me want to not be barefoot at all. The tub mat in the bathroom had a tacky feel to it when I first put it down. The bathroom wasn’t very clean when we checked in… and bathrooms are my biggest point of contention. The water pressure was just tolerable, but there was plenty of hot water for us. All of the linens were clean – I could smell the (great smelling!) detergent on the towels and bedsheets every day. The bed was firm, but there were six pillows of varying degrees of squishy and firmness. Other than that, mirrors were clean, floors mostly clean, but just to be on the safe side, I washed the mugs in our room before using them.
Breakfast. Hmm. I am a personal fan of breakfasts, but there was something to be desired about the breakfasts I had. The first day was huevos rancheros (the beans had not been properly drained and as a result I had a yolky-​bean juicy dish), second day was two eggs cooked to order, a biscuit, sausage or bacon, and grits, and the third day was a choice of cinnamon french toast or white truffle french toast made with grocery store sliced bread. The breakfasts weren’t bad, but they weren’t necessarily gourmet, either. I had a peek in the kitchen and found Kirkland’s brand ingredients. Like a couple others have mentioned, you fill out a breakfast order slip the night before with your choice of seating time, however these aren’t really regulated, and every day it was a battle to find seating for the three of us together.
There were four cats that roamed in the courtyard. Some people claim allergies, but the cats leave people alone for the most part (unless you chose to eat outside, in which case there was one black longhaired cat that was particularly fond of bacon). Other than that, the cats were off elsewhere doing cat things and I rarely saw them. They didn’t come looking for attention and didn’t try to go in any of the rooms.
Would I stay here again? Absolutely, if I had a good deal. They take care of parking for you, and they make an effort to learn names for those staying a few nights. The location is just unbeatable, and some breakfast is better than no breakfast at all. Just don’t forget to pack a pair of slippers.

We stayed in the Camellia room (up the stairs, through the dining room, out the back door, down the stairs into the courtyard, up the stairs to our own private building) and it was almost perfect. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, the temperature controls spot on. The location is in the middle of the historic district, with everything we wanted to see within a short walk (the tourist area along the river was about 20 minutes walk but enough said about that place). The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast choices were superb. Parking is on the street, but there were plenty of spaces and the Inn provides a permit to put on the dashboard — free parking.
We stayed for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it.
What was less than perfect? Nothing serious. The shower was almost hot enough, and the wifi a bit weak. All things considered I would recommend this place to anyone.

We were staying in the Live Oaks suite. It was very spacious and is at the end of the street overlooking Chatham square. It had a private entrance right on the street so it was like having a whole house to yourself. The room also had a microwave, fridge, and coffee pot. The queen bed firm but comfortable. Would have liked some fluffier pillows. The water pressure was nice in the shower. The bathroom is off the bedroom. Breakfast the was very good and portions were filling. They gave you 2 – 3 different options and the previous day you fill out a card letting them know which option you want. The bnb will also schedule tours for you and place them on your «tab». The concierge was very helpful with suggestions. I highly recommend and we will def be back. For the price you can’t beat it for your own place downtown.

We stayed in the Tomochichi room for two nights last weekend here. The room is actually named after the native american chief that originally sold the land Savannah was built on to General Oglethorpe. Actually all of the rooms at the inn are named after something historic in Savannah. Kind of a neat little thing if you’re into the history of the city.
Checking in was a breeze. Joey helped us get situated promptly, including a short tour of the inn and it’s amenities. We were quickly in out room and settled. The room itself was pretty awesome. Most of it was old exposed brick on one side and the other had several windows and door facing the center patio of the inn. The room was decorated eloquently and it really felt like an older, rustic room, with modern amenities of course. The adjacent patio was really nice, with a garden and plenty of shade, and plenty of cats! This is where we ate breakfast both mornings.
I really enjoyed the location of this place. It’s right next to Forsyth park which is beautiful. It’s also a short walk to River Street, crossing trough several of the squares. It’s an even shorter cab ride back, if you’ve been on RIver Street too long.
I’ll definitely be returning for another stay here.

We really enjoyed our 4 nights here. The B&B operates a dozen or so units on the block which were formerly separates attached residences. We stayed on the second floor of a renovated carriage house (Camellia Room) and found it quite charming. Very spacious rooms, comfortable beds, quiet and somewhat frou frou old timey décor. Room wasn’t particularly dark if that is a major concern for you.
A series of cute well-​planted courtyards connect many of the rooms and several cats laze about all day. Staff was very attentive and friendly. We enjoyed the quick breakfast service, as well as the complementary afternoon tea and chocolate chip cookies in the evening! We ate our breakfast on the back deck overlooking the courtyard, sunlight filtering through the big moss-​covered oaks and loquat trees.
Location is fantastic. It’s right on Chatham Square, 90 second walk to Bull street and Forsythe Park. Good food in the area too with Mrs. Wilke’s and Crystal Beer Parlor right around the corner. We didn’t have a car until the last day, but the staff apparently pays your metered parking from 8−11AM so you don’t have to wake up early! Only downside was the wifi was spotty at times.
Overall very pleasant experience. It’s not the most luxurious spot so don’t come expecting posh, but its more than adequate and really quite charming. Would stay here again and highly recommend. Did I mention the free cookies?

This was a «I’m passing through on a road trip» stay. And it was nice. An old traditional Savannah row home that was charming and the staff was helpful.
They are a little walk down to the water, but the walk moves you through a few nice parks and neighborhoods.
The rooms are large and comfortable and noise from other rooms isn’t an issue.
Breakfast is included and I’d recommend getting there early or right near the end to not be crowded or wait for seating.
All and all a great alternative to hotel/​motels.
