Specialties

Roots Up Gallery is a regional & folk art gallery located in the heart of Historic Savannah, GA. We specialize in folk art by self-taught, outsider, visionary and local artists. Our mix of artists includes Jimmy Lee Sudduth, Howard Finster, Missionary Mary Proctor along with a host of local Savannah artists such as Betsy Cain, Panhandle Slim, Rebecca Sipper, and none other than Rudolph Valentino «Rudy» Bostic.

Roots Up is owned and operated by Leslie Lovell and Francis Allen. We’ve had a passion for «non-traditional» art and we’re pleased to share this fun and approachable art with you. As you’re looking feel free to take a seat, have a glass of iced tea and talk for a while.

Our diverse selection of vernacular folk art includes paintings, sculptures, pottery and jewelry.

We are located on the parlor level of an 1854 mansion at 6 E. Liberty Street by the intersection of Bull Street.

History

Established in 2014.

Roots Up Gallery grew out of the personal folk art collection of its owners, Leslie Lovell and Francis Allen, who spent several years tracking down folk artists around the southeastern United States.
