Planters Inn

The place was comfortable enough. The staff and management, however, are abysmal.
I was told that I booked the wrong weekend for a wedding that everyone else was booked for. Then I was told I was a no-​show for the weekend I didn’t book. I was also told, after several times expressing myself that I was not upset with the desk staff, that they were upset with me for not checking my incorrect confirmation.
Seven days went by with my attempts at calm and open communication with the management with the issues and no reciprocation. Finally I received a partial refund, but no contact nor final resolution was made.
Many other guests in the party had issues, like double-​charging, given a king bed room when a double queen was requested, etc. Absolutely do not stay here, avoid at all costs. You’ll be over-​charged, double-​charged, and then told you’re lucky they even have a room for you to stay in.

So. They gave me a credit for the overcharge but not in the amount they overcharged me, every attempt to call or email hasn’t been returned, or they say there isn’t a supervisor around.
Don’t stay here, the place is old, they will charge you more than agreed upon.
I’ve paid half as much and stayed at twice as nice of a place. These people act real nice while you’re in town and rob you when you leave.

We were not treated well. Smoke alarm went off in our room, and we don’t smoke, and there was no fire. It took them about 10 minutes to turn it off and would not give us any compensation. There are lots of other good hotels in this area.

I wasn’t a fan of the Planters Inn. It’s in a great location, it’s quaint, they bake you cookies at night and put them out in the lobby– but that’s where the relationship ends. It needs restoring, a little bit of a deep clean in the common areas and some outlets by the nightstands on either side would be nice.
So while hotel searching I wanted something slightly historic yet still conveniently located to the Rock and Roll half marathon start and/​or end points for the latter point of our trip. We started off at a Kimpton boutique hotel and transferred over to Planters a few days after just to alter the experience and get the historic feel yet still be within a mile radius of the marathon.
Every night I’d have to put my battery pack to charge in the bathroom and my phone on the little table across the room. There were absolutely no outlets to plug my phone into which means that setting my alarm was a huge inconvenience– no wiggle room for snoozing! I’d have to literally get up from bed and walk across the room.
Another setback was the bed itself– maybe some prefer it this way, but mattress was hard like a rock. None of this would matter if I hadn’t had something to compare it with the nights before but at $ 280 a night I was expecting a little more.

We have never been given such good care!
The folks at the front desk were amazing. They we’re knowledgable and very friendly and helpful. The staff was helpful and friendly as well. We felt they were so glad we were there. A piano played every evening except Sunday and was very relaxing. Wine and sodas were served with a variety of cheeses. Our trip to Savannah was easy and fun because of these wonderful folks. Also rooms and bathrooms were clean and well attended. Our beds were turned down nightly and a chocolate mint left for us. We will be back on our next visit to Savannah!

Super impressed with this hotel — got a great deal using Priceline and was worried this was going to be a musty old hotel, but it was awesome! The bed was the most comfortable hotel bed I’ve ever slept on. The A/​C worked like a champ, the bathroom was a very nice size, and the free continental breakfast was very well stocked and delicious. They even do a free wine and cheese reception between 5:30 — 7:30 that is perfect to chill at while you plan your night. We’ll be back on our next trip to Savannah!

The Planters Inn is simply charming. I stayed here for work one night and will definitely be using it as my preferred hotel whenever I’m back in Savannah from now on.
It is clearly an older, historic hotel, so be mindful of this when booking if new and modern is your thing. I thought the traditional bedroom furniture, grandmotherly floral linens, and fireplace were all delightful. The bathroom was very large and relatively updated. They have complementary happy hour along with a piano player. Classy. I was really planning on getting my money’s worth out of this, but upon discovering the average guest was approximately 87 I quickly gulped down my one glass of pinot grigio and took to the streets of Savannah. The Planters Inn is definitely in the heart of Savannah, so you can walk everywhere.
My room was well appointed and the employees couldn’t have been any kinder or more welcoming. The Planters Inn is not the Ritz or the Bohemian in the case of Savannah, but it is a wonderful and charming hotel worth calling home for a night.

WISH I COULD LEAVE NO STARS. I would pay for people to NOT stay at this hotel. Do not stay at The Planters Inn. For a hotel that recently did a «multi million dollar refurbishment» it is TERRIBLE! Broken tv stand in room. Broken bed frame in room. Mildew in shower. I paid $ 185.00 for a view of the parking garage. Only one elevator is working, & it takes you to the BASEMENT every time you ride. If you saw online the second floor patio pictures, it doesn’t say you have to pay for a room with the patio. But you do. So you cannot access the patio. When I approached the front desk about this, I said isn’t that false advertisement? And the response was, «yes we know that.» They are aware they falsely advertise their amenities and they do not care. In the room you are provided with a number to the GM MARC FRIDAY. I called him to discuss getting a refund and after a few minutes on the phone talking about how I booked through a third party travel agency– (trip advisor, and then referred to Jetsetter) they could not personally provide me a refund from the hotel, I needed to contact Jetsetter. He then told me he «did not care if we stayed or left, but he would do nothing for me.» We stayed in the room for the evening, because by this time it was 7pm, Jetsetter was closed for service calls, and to get another room in the area was going to be very expensive, and I refused to pay MORE money without a guaranteed refund from The Planters Inn. This morning we checked out, we were told Marc was In a conference call and would call Jetsetter back to give the OKAY for our refund. We came back this afternoon to pick up our car from valet, and we were told Marc was in the building servicing a room on an upper floor and that the notes in the computer said we came to a resolution the evening before and that we would get a refund. A gentleman then emerged from a back room, who said he spoke to Marc who was apparently NOT in the building and Marc told him to tell us because we stayed in the hotel we would NOT be getting a refund. Not one time were we able to speak to Marc, AND the customer service from the other employees was APPALLING! Very rude, and not helpful. The bellman BRADLY was the ONLY nice person in the building! Currently we are waiting to hear back from Jetsetter about our refund. Please, do not stay here. Anywhere else will be better.

The hotel hasn’t been updated in many decades. The «free» breakfast is terrible, consisting of store bought muffins and bagels. Only one of the elevators is working, so it takes ~10 minutes of waiting until it comes. I would not recommend this place to a friend.

We stayed at this hotel for one night when visiting Savannah. It is definitely an older hotel and feels historic. The hotel is clean, however, it is not updated and modern. The staff was extremely friendly, offering loads of suggestions about what to do and where to eat. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. We stayed in a room with two twin beds which felt very European. They have cold water available in the lobby and a wine and cheese hour in the afternoon. These little touches always make my stay at a hotel more enjoyable. They also offer a complimentary breakfast. The location is great, right off of beautiful square and close to City Market and the Waterfront area. I would stay here again if visiting Savannah.

First, the front desk told us that 85% of the rooms face a large parking garage. This was after we complained about the view. Aside from the fact that renovations are going on, one of the elevators was not working, and registration was slow. Once we agreed to pay additional money, we did have a lovely corner room on the 6^th floor with one wall having windows overlooking Reynolds Square. Nice. The other windows overlooked the parking garage! Just remember to ask ahead of time! Perfect location to good restaurants and River Street.

Pretty underwhelmed. Carl, the Doorman was awesome. After that it was just ok. The room was nice enough, cute. Lots of noise in the rooms, above and sues by side. Housekeeping yelled to each other from one end if the hall to the other at 8am on Saturday … Guess that’s one way to get guests out. Breakfast was barely adequate, ran out of coffee and cereal so stale they threw it out. Given the wonderful location we were very disappointed.

I had a wonderful stay at Planters Inn! My room was comfortable and clean. I enjoyed the wine and cheese reception from 530 to 7:30 PM. I appreciated the turndown service at night with the mints on the pillows and the ice in the room. The bed was comfy. The showers have been updated and I had a wonderful shower. I really felt that the staff was on point with making sure I was comfortable and the service was great during my whole stay. The location was very convenient for this walkable city, especially when I had dinner next-​door at the Olde Pink House. The breakfast was the one thing that wasn’t for me since I have food allergies there wasn’t anything I could eat. I was fine with walking down the street to the smoothie King and having a vegan smoothie. I would definitely stay here again!

Free wifi, comfortable beds, and old-​style hotel. Great location aside from the parking garage next door. Nice staff and comfortable lobby.

The hotel is nice enough, it kind of looks like my grandmother decorated the place. The trouble began once we checked in. Once to our room we realized the view was of the parking garage and instead of a queen bed there were two twin beds. The front desk informed me that if I wanted what was confirmed on the reservation there would be a $ 32 upgrade fee. When I asked about refunding the total cost of the hotel I was told that wasn’t possible. Horrible customer service and a gross misrepresentation of the hotel in general.

Great location. I would have expected more for the money though. They need to find a good balance between that historic southern charm and some modern upgrades. I didn’t think there was anything about the actual rooms that I care to remember. The view of the parking garage was stellar. The building itself and the lobby were pleasant. The staff was also friendly and courteous. Although they were lacking in tourist information. They could use a dedicated spot for all the touristy pamphlets you can find at most hotels. If you can catch the happy hour hostess in the lobby she seemed eager to tell you all about the city and the not to miss destinations.

Pretty good. Placement is good. Very pricey, 300 $ for a single room, but very nice. Very good service. Very nice people. Outlet placements were fine. Its nice to be right next to a restaurant. Alas, the good compliments only last.
OK, first of all, the free internet is horribly DREADFUL. I cannot even open the GOOGLE start page! The view was amazing, yes, the «amazing» view of a parking-​lot.
The beds were fine, but when i left the fan on low for a couple hours, it became FREEZING COLD!!!
It was a unique experience to be in a very old building as a hotel, and the service was amazing, so i have to give it a 3 out of 5! ^_^

Three wonderful nights! Excellent staff. So helpful and happy to serve. The hotel is in an excellent location. Valet park your car and you’ll not need to move it until you leave.
The flavored water that’s offered at the front door is very refreshing after walking in the Georgia heat. The wine and cheese reception is nice, however the woman hosting is a bit stuck up and borders on being rude if you don’t book any meals or tours through her. This was the only reason I didn’t give the hotel 5 stars. However the front desk staff and the valets, especially Jack and Colby were beyond excellent!!!

In the heart of the historic district with one of the park squares outside the front door, the location for walking to sites and enjoying historic Savannah is wonderful. On the downside, there is also a parking garage next door which mean lights and noise a good part of each night. We had read this in advance and requested a higher level floor as well as brought sound machines so that helped, but it still took away from enjoyment of the hotel. Rooms were large, clean and attractively appointed with a classic feel. Limited wine and cheese in the lobby in the afternoons. Somewhat miss not having bar and larger lobby but the Pinke House next door has a nice bar. All in all an OK boutique hotel with some pluses and minuses.

When the staff held our bags at the front desk, they stuck stickers to the bags (not to the handle — to the actual body of the bags) to indicate what room they belong to, and the sticker damaged a custom leather bag I had made overseas!!!
We were very disappointed!
