Came back today and it looks like they are fixing the dining area up a bit at a time. Looking better. Hope that continues. As for the food! OMG! Feels like we are in Mexico! The tripe soup, not the usual one you see in other mexican places, was very good. The chicharones with chile verde was yummy! The shredded beef was so flavorful! We enjoyed seconds on the enchiladas because they were so tasty! They had sauteed nopales and onions! Something I’ve never seen. They are good with enchiladas, beans, meat, etc. My husband thought the rice was good. We like the chips. Think they must be made from flour tortillas, as they were not corn, but were crunchy and great with the salsa. They were out of some of the condiments, as it was pretty busy, and after lunch(probably 2:30 or so) but we didn’t really lack for anything. Still, the buffett was good and hot, so we weren’t worried about anything going bad as a cooler temperature would be. The waitress was nice and kept an eye out for anything we may need. Was hoping there would be chile rellenos, but maybe they will have them next time. Only wishing I hadn’t had that second plate of food! I ate way too much! Gads it was good! Think we were the only non-hispanics in there, but that’s a good sign that the food made in the tradition where the chef came from, is that good!

Friendly staff and a great buffet. Lots of salsa and sauces. The empanadas were amazing, as were the nopales. Highly recommended stop on day adventures out on Rte 17.

This is legit Mexican food. I was so happy to find this place. No burritos with a pound of cheddar cheese melted on top – this place is the real deal.

I can’t believe I didn’t discover this place sooner! Lunch buffet open 7 days a week. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it. Tucked away inside a small Latino grocery store is this gem of rare home-cooked Mexican fare. The buffet is small but extraordinary. Fresh tortillas, al pastor, chicken mole, tamales, stewed shrimp and crab, lentils, huevos and chorizo,… all with the best refried beans and rice I’ve ever had. There’s also a small cold bar with a load of fixins and sides like Campechana. This is the good stuff. And cheap! I think weekday lunch was about $ 6. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Can’t wait to go back! Definitely the BEST Mexican food in Savannah.
