This review is not solely for the food but for the manager Greg. My friend and I decided to take our boys there to eat, this restaurant was not our choice at all. Anyway, we both ordered different platters but there was a mutual item on each platter, the stuffed shrimp with crab meat, cream cheese, and jalapeño…it sounded good but after taking a bite it was a bit much. The cream cheese made it very gooey so after the first bite the breading came apart and it was no longer a stuffed shrimp. We asked our waiter Eric, who was very pleasant by the way, if we could get the regular fried shrimp in place of this. He went to get his manager and Greg was very rude! I have never been to a restaurant where the manager talked to the paying customers as if we were wrong for not enjoying the shrimp. He told us only one person could get friend shrimp and the second person would have to be billed for an order of shrimp. Mind you, I had already ordered a platter. I was furious at this point. I worked in the restaurant industry many years ago but the motto is the same«customers are always right.» He did not try to please the customers at all and this is not how a manager would normally respond. Somehow a nice young lady by the name of Angel I believe who is also a manager came over and apologized as I was telling my friend I would no longer support a business that is run like that. She was very caring and understanding and no she did not offer us anything for free but she made up for the lack of hospitality and customer service that Greg possesses. Hopefully, the owners will see this review and train Greg before he begins running more customers away.

The crab shack in Tybee island is way better this is a tourist trap, Joe’s crab shack is a rip off and definitely overrated.

I’ve eaten at a few Joes Crab shack, I’ve never felt the need to write a review until now. Joes has always had good food, but wasn’t great until today. We had the Cajun shrimp starter and a crab pot! But regardless of the amazing food, Scott, our waiter, was one of the best waiters we have ever had! He was so accommodating to all our Hindu specifications and on top of that suggested great alternatives and was overtly friendly! What a delight! I wish I could sing his praise well! Joes food is Great, any where in the country, but good service and an amazing attitude is hard to come by!!! Well done to the manager on picking an amazing, energetic staff to drive this branch! Love, love the staff!!!

Just like every other Joe’s with one major difference… it is right on the river. Angelic was a wonderful waitress and was very helpful in helping us decide on what we should get. My wife got the stuffed mushrooms and I got the crab dip. We both decided on the steam pot for two and we were very pleased with the crab shrimp and sausage. We got the turtle ice cream and could not recommend a better tasting desert. Great place when you can’t decide what type of food you want.

The bartender is nice, and the food is ok. Just keep in mind that if you order king crab, you’ll get one small king crab leg under a couple snow crab legs. I guess the patrons are too stupid to know the difference?

The views of the Savannah River are great. The food is hit or miss. The only edible thing at our table was the Crab Nachos, but we all agreed that was Fantastic! And the service is horrible.

This is the worst Joe’s Crab Shack in the country. The staff was very rude with the exception to our waitress who seemed new. Our food was horrible. One person in our party had to eat with plastic silverware because they were backed up with cleaning the utensils. We were literally the only party in the restaurant(there were 5 of us) and there were 2 tables outside. I always order shrimp at our location in Kennesaw, GA. The shrimp at Savannnah’s location was piss poor. They messed up my order of extra shrimp by brining me popcorn shrimp. Just a horrible experience all around. I have attached photos of the empty restaurant and will also post of the baby shrimp that they gave me if it is still in my phone – even though I ordered extra jumbo shrimp. NEVER eating at that location again and I’m certain they don’t care but I will be in contact with their corporate office. I’d give no stars if I could.

I was out on River Street on a romantic stroll with my lovely fiancé and we decided to try the seafood at this restaurant. It was pretty empty on a saturday night so we were seated right away. The service was nice and friendly. We had raw oysters as an appetizer which were ok. My main course was the East Coast platter, big mistake. The bacon wrapped shrimp skewer was crispy and nice on the top and soft and gooey on the bottom, as if they were never turned over while cooking. The fish & chips were awful, the breading on the fish completely came apart from the fish and the fries were limp, soft and undercooked. The crab cake just tasted off. The dining room is very casual and unsophisticated, the whole theme of the restaurant is very gimmicky. The other diners eating buckets of crab seemed to be enjoying themselves, maybe I just picked the wrong meal to eat there. I agree with other reviewers about the mediocre food. I should have checked the reviews first. Lesson learned.

The«Eat at Joe’s» message should«Eat at Slow’s». Don’t come here if you want quick eats, or service. The hostess and busboy were friendly, but the bartender turned waitress was harried and couldn’t be at her best. The food was mediocre but not terrible, and for the price was overpriced. The bill came and we sat, and sat, and sat until we went to the bar to have the credit card ran.

Sitting in the deck next to the river was pleasant. The food, just like other Joes, was okay. I had a queen crab basket, with no seasoning. My dish was pretty good, with 2 sets of legs. My girlfriend ordered a steampot, that included shrimp, a lobster tail, and a set of crab legs. The lobster tasted old, with a strong seafood taste. There are much better places within walking distance to eat.

Not a good dining experience and will not be returning!!! After the regular wait to be seated 25 to 30 minutes we were seated. The server came and took the order for one appetizer which took forever to come out. Then we ordered a plate w clams, crab legs, and lobster. The worst part was when the server came and said the tool to eat the lobster and crab legs were all being washed in the kitchen and they didn’t have any available… HOWAM I SUPPOSEDTOEATTHEDAMNFOOD” The server said she would bring them out so we WAITED&WAITED&WAITED. Finally I was so pissed off I returned the whole dinner. I spoke with the manager and he wanted to charge me for half of my food REALLYAREYOUNUTS!!! All the while I had been watching the manager lazily sitting at a farside table chilling and talking with I guess friends while the guests dont have utensils to eat

So we wanted to find someplace with an outdoor patio where we could still be comfortable. We try NEVER to eat at a chain but it just so happened that they fit the bill of what we wanted because we wanted to sit outside and play cards. We were seated immediately by a lovey hostess but then sat for over ten minutes waiting to be greeted. When we finally asked a server if we were in her section she said no but. That she would find out who had us. As it turned out the person who would have been our waiter was sitting with a young female Patron helping her fill out a review on him. I think he had something vested in her opinion or he was hoping to get lucky with the jail bait! Well as it turns out the young women we asked to find our server ended up taking our order and being our waitress. Melissa was awesome! She was attentive and took excellent care of us and HER tip reflected that:) we hope she was satisfied. We were.

Chain restaurant, teenage/college staff. Nuff said? Burgers are frozen, as basically everything else was. The waitress want rude, but delivered only what service was required. It was kind of what I expected. You have location and ambience, customers not spoiled for choice, you can put. much charge and sell whatever. Did I mention the premium price for barely mediocre food?

Greasy, overpriced. The mahi-mahi tacos had just a tiny bit of overcooked fish and barely any pico. The seafood isn’t even necessarily local, it could come as far away as the Pacific Northwest. We didn’t get crab or lobster, which is probably why we were so disappointed. But the rest of the menu shouldn’t be so grim. We regret coming here and not a local Savannah restaurant. Would not return.

Overpriced tourist trap, mediocre food, service pleasant but challenged. Not OUR choice but family members with kids enjoyed it. Great location on the Savannah river!

The food is really good but the prices are a little high I thought. Other than that I really enjoyed it. I had the shrimp Alfredo which was really good and the sauce was wonderful.

The restaurant wasn’t busy with at least 5 table open with plenty of servers. Long wait on food(appetizer over 40 mins), server doesn’t check on the party rarely(once every 20 mins if not longer). No refills on drinks. We sat for 2 hours before main entry was here. Tip was included which she didn’t deserve $ 14 for the poor service we were getting. Ok food bad service.

Love the seafood! Hate eating off foam plates and using plastic utensils however! I also expected my shrimp salad to be upon a bed of lettuce, however it was just shrimp/mayo salad bt itself with a side of coleslaw and a ½ piece of corn. My husband had the crab shack special for one and he loved it.

Had our Xmas eve dinner here for Contiki while going down the East Coast– such a fun place. Roommate and I shared the Fish & Chips which had a Samuel Adams beer batter around the white fish. Came with coleslaw as well as fries. Decided to try their cocktail menu and chose the Joe’s Shark Bite which was this fun Blue Curaçao, Spiced Rum and Light Rum mix that came in a goblet. Came with a test-tube holding Grenadine toy shark on the side. Wow, did that ever turn out to be the right decision. The waitress would pour in the red Grenadine with each order and yell«A Shark is coming» so it looked like blood in the Blue Curaçao ‘ocean’ water. Absolute ball. I think our friends ordered it after that just so they could get that novel experience. Good flavour also. Great service– and neat seafood place. Definitely recommend a visit for the Shark Bite as well as for the food!
