Holiday Inn Express & Suites Savannah – Midtown

The worst, most disrespectful service I’ve seen almost anywhere. I do not recommend this location
Corporate offices will definitely be getting a letter.

This hotel is for those who do not mind paper thin walls, frayed towels, no dining/​room services, and are uninterested in housekeeping. When I returned to my room in the evening it had not been touched– no new linens, towels, vacuuming, etc. Love the minimalism of thin blankets? This is your place. Mildew in the shower as well.
Accessibility– The host on duty was also very insistent on seeing «papers» for my service dog which is not a legal request in the ADA. They did not apologize but there was no manager available when I requested to speak with one. They also did not offer a roll in shower, accessible bathroom or any other basic options.

Walking into this hotel was a saving grace after seeing other hotels in this area. We had originally booked another room online but had to cancel that reservation upon arrival. After finding this holiday express inn we couldn’t wait to pay the concierge for our rooms. The rooms are very clean. There is a shared family room style room with a tv and a fireplace if you don’t want to stay in your room all night. The fitness center was new, spotless and had all the essentials. There is a beautiful and private office center. Breakfast service was great. Overall a perfect place to stay. The closest thing to home away from home. Would stay again every single time.
P. S. Every single one of the staff members was extremely pleasant and helpful including Renee at the front desk (and the other lady at the front desk didn’t catch her name who offered us bottled water upon arriving), Katie our breakfast host, and Charity in housekeeping. Thank you guys!

Unfortunately for this hotel they did not meet the expectations for a great experience. The front desk staff did not make us feel welcomed. I felt I was one of many things they had going on, and not the main reason they were there. Maybe the award show being shown on the music channel had her too distracted to concentrate on us. I thought it was strange that the lobby television was on a popular music channels award show on a Saturday afternoon.
The hotel is very clean and quiet. My room was adequate but boring. It just seemed to be lacking some of the things I have gotten used to seeing in my IHG rooms, all the walls were bare. They have direct TV and the channel list is huge. They offer several premium movie channels, HBO’s, Cine, starz.
The free breakfast is becoming a joke at some Holiday Day Inns, this one leads the pack. The breakfast is weird, yeah that’s right weird. The eggs looked like the fake snow you add water to for Christmas decorations (just yellow). The tan meat was round so I’m guessing it was sausage. I was surprised to see thick sliced of ham for breakfast, the ham great. The cereal and milk was good.
In the future I will book my room earlier so I will not be forced to stay here just because I wanted to collect my IHG member points.

Super clean, friendly and centrally located. It’s about 15 mi u test from downtown savannah. Very quiet

It was subpar, compared to the Holiday Inn Express hotels we stayed in for the past 3 evenings in Brunswick and Jacksonville. We had expressed our interest to extend our stay to the front desk and got a response that was not very customer service friendly. holiday inn management should train their staff to be more customer service oriented. They would have gotten another nights stay from us.

We stayed here on the fourth floor for two days, visiting Savannah. We think the room was updated as the furniture looked pretty modern. The floors were a tad dirty. There was no fan in the bathroom, so the steam could get pretty bad in there. It was very quiet all around. The mattresses were comfortable, so we slept very well. It’s a bummer that they changed pet policies to no pets.
The hot breakfast was excellent; we had boiled eggs, three types of yogurts, three types of milk, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits and gravy, cinnamon rolls, bagels, cream cheese, english muffins, toast, oatmeals, bananas, apples, coffee, juice, tea, water. The lady responsible was very quick to refill anything that was getting low, and it was crowded both mornings, so she kept busy. Next to the hotel was a place called Southside Seafood market that cooked fresh seafood for us to take back to the hotel. It was such a nice thing to have a great seafood eatery so close to the hotel, as we were hankering for some seafood in Savannah! We’d definitely go back; just wished it was closer to downtown.

At first I thought things during our stay was going well. The location was convenient, breakfast was ok and I enjoyed the separate bedroom (suite). I found out that someone from hotel staff had been in my room while my family was gone (compliments of my sons video game system that logged the staff play time!) and when we got home I found condoms in my husbands pants pocket. I got so mad at him but if I thought for two seconds the only time we left was together so hmm. oh and I had a lovely glimpse of a feces ring in the toilet when trying to take advantage of the jacuzzi. i almost threw up. I tried voicing my issues to holiday inn but apparently they don’t care

Tried to check in here with corporate lodging, a direct bill company card. Was told I was required to make a reservation (never have before, anywhere, ever) plus they wanted a credit card for «incidentals». Whole point of clc is that you don’t need a credit card. Poor customer service!

This is my third stay at this hotel. Everything is very clean and fresh. The bathroom was spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the room was very spacious. They have a pretty large breakfast offering. Yogurt, packages of grits and oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, biscuits and gravy, good coffee, pastries, pancakes, etc. The hotel is convenient to a wide variety of shopping and dining choices. I certainly agree with the rating, great stay and I hope to get booked here again on my next visit to the area.

Clean rooms and easy access make this a good value. Expect to pay about half of the rate for a room near historic downtown, but the lower price buys you a 20 minute commute.
The staff is moderately unprofessional, in my opinion. I encountered clusters of housekeeping employees talking about all manner of personal items regardless of who was nearby, and very loudly. Loud enough to be clearly heard behind your closed door.
Ample parking during our visit. Normal hotel breakfast selection (cereal, fruit, breads, pastries, pancake machine, etc). The staff seemed attentive during the meal time and nothing was empty during my stay.
I’d stay again, but I would also consider other brands nearby.

This hotel has the ability to be really great. The location is easily accessible, newer, and not far from everything in Savannah. The prices aren’t that bad either. However, there is a BIG problem here… management, or lack of.
There doesn’t seem to be much of a presence of management, therefore, the housekeeping staff runs rampant and does pretty much whatever they want!
Upon arrival, we had 3 rooms booked about 6 weeks in advance — king suites, all of them. When checking in, they said they only had one available, and regardless of my prepaid reservation, they could only give us 1 king suite! Ridiculous! After 2 days and 4 conversations with «management», I got a refund for the difference between the rooms, but not really any apology.
Another thing I noticed was that the building was under some sort of construction, with scaffolding everywhere, plastic hanging all over the building, loud workers everywhere, construction materials and equipment taking up half the parking lot, etc. There was no mention of this when making the reservation. We had to move one of the rooms because the hammering and noise outside the window was amazingly loud all day long.
While waiting out front for our other family members to arrive, there was a large group of housekeepers out front in a group and in a car blocking the check-​in area in front of the main entrance. They were eating, singing, laughing loudly, and acting very inappropriately, all right there in front of all the guests checking in.
They boast a hot breakfast complimentary every day, and they do have quite a setup for it, which is nice. However, the housekeeping staff rarely checks and stocks it, so everything is empty and cold throughout. One morning while trying to find one of the 6 coffee dispensers that might actually have coffee in it, a housekeeper came up, joked about there not being any coffee, then proceeded to fill her own cup with the last few drops of coffee, use the last 3 sugar packets, and start drinking it while walking away!!! Any other hotel would have fired her on the spot.
After being gone from 7:30am to about 3pm the next day, we all returned to our rooms to find that none of them had been serviced with any type of housekeeping! I called the front desk to tell them, and they said they were behind and someone would be coming by to clean it. After another hour of waiting in a dirty room, a housekeeper knocked on the door and offered towels. When we questioned her about the service, she acted like she didn’t know what I was talking about. After practically demanding the room be cleaned, she reluctantly said she would but made sure to tell us many times that she got off work in 30 minutes. We then went down to the front desk to talk to a «manager». She reluctantly got off her chair and said she would «take care of it», without even an apology. After an hour, they rooms had their sheets changed and towels restocked, but nothing else had been touched.
Each morning while leaving to go out for the day, the housekeepers played amazingly loud music in the rooms they were cleaning that could be heard down the hallways and into the adjacent rooms. Also, they use the main guest elevator, and there is only one really slow one, to carry their laundry carts and cleaning cars up and down, and will even push in front of you to get on the elevator first, so guests have to slide up against the wall of the elevator to fit in.
All in all, the staff at this hotel is amazingly rude, lazy, inattentive, and grossly undermanaged. I don’t think any of them have had any hospitality training, and have no idea how to treat a guest.
If you are planning to stay in Savannah, DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!!!

We enjoyed Savannah, but our experience at this hotel was terrible. I travel so much for work that I’ve eventually gained Platinum status with IHG-​International Hotels Group as well as other hotels and groups. I know the hotel rules, the do’s and the don’ts. This trip to Savannah was with my boyfriend and non-​work related. A few days after we checked out I noticed a charge for $ 250 on my credit card. When I called I was told that I had been charged for smoking in the room. For 3 days I was bounced back and forth with the General Manager, Chris, and the Assistant Manager, Simone. No one would call me back and it wasn’t until I got aggressive that I finally spoke to someone. I was told that the room smelled like smoke and that is why I was charged. They have no evidence of smoking or anything. Yes, we are smokers but we didn’t smoke in the room, room 425. If we wanted to smoke in the room we would have reserved a smoking room. We dont even smoke in our own home. If they looked at the security cameras, they would see that we stepped out the back door to have a cigarette even though it was raining and we didn’t have an umbrella. And another thing, the back door of the hotel is not secured. Its open and unlocked all night and you don’t need your key card to enter. How do I know? I discovered it when I went OUTSIDE to smoke. If the room really smelled like cigarettes, its probably from the guests before us and because the rooms aren’t cleaned properly. The toilet had a gray ring on the bowl, there was mildew on the shower curtain, and the bathroom door doesn’t shut. I called the IHG corporate office to file a complaint and was told that they will let Chris, the GM, know and that he would be calling me back. I never got a call. This is my first negative experience with any Holiday Inn hotels. Unless you dont mind being accused and fined for something you didn’t do, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PARTICULAR HOTEL.

Overall, this place was fine. It’s off the beaten track from the historic district and Tybee, but it’s not bad. It’s considerably cheaper than the hotels closer in so kind of worth it.
The cons:
The pool– The pool was fine but it needed to be cleaned. My biggest complaint is that no one cleaned the area around the pool the entire time we were there (3 days). There were cigarette butts around a table and some other random things. Someone needs to clean up.
Checkin– We got there really early because friends of ours were already there the previous day. We were told that we could check in at 1 (which was 2 hours away). At 1, (after we got back form lunch), we were told it would be 2 more hours. We deicded to go to the pool and when we got done, we were told two more hours which would have been checking in at 5! Aw hell no. We were told that they had no rooms available which was crap because there were lots of room on the floor our friends were on. Finally, they said they had a room but it was handicapped which is fine for what it is except what if someone handicapped needs it? Also, bathroom had no counter space because it was a handicapped room and overall it was kind of a pain as far as the bathroom is concerned.
We were not the only people who experienced this issue as we heard one vocal person who was also angry the next day.
Normally, Holiday Inn Express has some awesome shampoo (like another one I stayed at recently) but this stuff smelled like… well, I’m not sure… a little like cloves or cinnamon or something. Gross.
Parking– pain in the butt. I went out one night and we didn’t come back until 3:30am. Not one space in the whole damn place.

Came up for a surprise party. Rooms were clean and ac worked great. Hallways have a musty odor and are very warm. Free wi-​fi and free breakfast. Flat screens in every room are a nice touch. Takes 15 – 20 minutes to get to the riverfront but paid 50% less than we would have downtown.

Hotel is very clean and offers late check in. Beware – it’s pretty inconvenient to the historic district. I’d say driving there took about 20 minutes? I guess that’s not horrible especially since you pay like half the price of a night’s stay than you would if you stayed in the historic district. I’m glad we stayed at this location though. It is perfect for newbies, and definitely gave us the chance to take an actual trolley tour (free parking + a tour of Savannah + shuttle system = staying in midtown Savannah and saving that $$$ is worth it).
This location is also super close to convenient shopping places like the mall and Kroger and Target and Walmart… just to name a few :) Sometimes you need that last minute purchase… and it’s nice not having to struggle to find those stores!
The breakfast is pleasant. They offer cheese omelets, sausages, biscuit, pancakes, fruits, yogurt, milk, juice, coffee, tea, and ummm… pastry stuff.
The only negative? No fridge. For such an upgraded kind of stay, I was really hoping there was a mini fridge or something! Sad.
If you are familiar with downtown Savannah, I’d suggest choosing lodging that’s closer.

My boyfriend & I recently took a trip to Savannah for our birthdays and we decided to stay here and were quite impressed. Upon arrival, we had trouble locating the establishment but once we found it nestled behind the Logan’s & the Olive Garden we were pretty happy with it. At first, we were disappointed being so far from the downtown area but it really gave us a chance to see what else Savannah had to offer besides downtown & River Street. The hotel is newer and pristine flat screens in the rooms lovely headboards and lime green accents, clean linens, a spacious bathroom & a decent breakfast buffet in the mornings. I was really impressed with the décor and the cleanliness of this hotel the staff was friendly and accommodating as well. I would definitely stay here at this location again.
