Description

Specialties

We specialize in teaching and providing for the general public a venue for ballroom and social dancing.

History

Established in 1998.

In 1996 we began planning to open such a place. It took us till 1997 to raise starting capital and find a place to rent. Our first location was in a shopping center in January of 1998 but in 2001 we moved to our current location. We are located on a side street in a quiet neighborhood. There is a non-profit organization behind us that specializes in serving people with developmental disabilities. Across the street is a Chinese Christian Church on one side and the Chatham County Environmental Education Center. Along with the government offices, there is a Benedictine monastery, the Army Reserve and National Guard centers along with three hospitals. We are the only place open after 5 pm. so it may seem spooky but it is safe since the police maintenance facility is one block away. Everything within 3 square miles is dedicated to sports with several ball fields, the city pool, a golf course, tennis courts and soccer fields.

Meet the Business Owner

Kenneth H.

Business Owner

He received his initial dance teacher training from Fred Astaire Dance Studio where he taught from 1983 to 1991. He left and taught at an independent school from 1991 to 1997. He opened his own school in 1998 and has been there till the present. He competed with his wife till 1996 when he retired from competition. His background gives him a unique perspective on dance. As a child he desired to become a Nuclear Physicist and studied physics extensively. He began studying music in the 4th grade and continues to take music lessons to this day. He went to college to become a theologian. He left that discipline to study physical therapy. In theology he developed organized thinking skills and in physical therapy he learned the kinesiology which is the science of body movement. When he discovered dancing he found a home where all his experience could be used.
