Specialties
Focusing on affordable, local organic cuisine, Plate Shop’s menu is a testament to their green thumb and passion for farm-to-table offerings. The menu will change regularly based on the best ingredients sourced on a given day, pulling from local farmers and ranchers as well as the 14 large vegetable beds outside the kitchen door.
History
Established in 2011.
Plate Shop, a small neighborhood bar and restaurant that focuses on casual, relaxed service with upscale flair. Plate Shop first opened its doors as a restaurant, the Gold Dust Bar in 1937. The team drew their inspiration around the history ft the Pre-World War Il Sausalito shipbuilding industry. Plate shops décor incorporates subtle nautical Touches throughout and draws on industrial antiques to create a warm and warn look.
The team designed a neighborhood restaurant that references Sausalito’s history as a small costal town. The use of metals and
reclaimed, distressed woods tie the main dining room together in it’s industrial antique, vision.
Upon entering the restaurant guests will find one central communal table suspended from the ceiling, as if hanging by nautical lines, a throwback to old pre World War II battleship mess halls. The 54-seat restaurant also features wood banquets with leather cushions lining one wall.
