Bean Sprouts is a nationally-​recognized brand that sparks children’s appetites with yummy, good-​for-​you food and delights grown-​ups with a happier meal time. Through its cafés, cooking schools and related products, Bean Sprouts is in the BEANsiness of empowering kids and families to make healthy food choices.

At Bean Sprouts Cooking Schools, Professor Peas encourage kids ages as young as 2 to create whimsical dishes that focus on playful presentation and silly recipe steps. From hula dancing with spinach leaves to pretending to be crocodiles while making Crocamole, the classes inspire lifelong healthy eating habits.

History

Established in 2007.

The first Bean Sprouts Café opened in 2007, followed by the cooking school in 2008. The company has ambitious growth plans, with 80 locations by 2018.

Currently, there are three cafés: Seattle Center (campus of the Space Needle), the Bay Area Discovery Museum (San Francisco Bay Area), and Chabot Space & Science Center (San Francisco Bay Area). Cooking School locations include Sausalito, California; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Seattle, Washington and New York.

Bean Sprouts has been recognized on Fast Casual magazine’s Top 100 Movers & Shakers list for two years. The founders also met with the Let’s Move! Healthy kids initiative at the White House to talk about being industry leaders in wholesome dining options for children.

Business Owner

The founders of Bean Sprouts, Kelly «Pea Brain» Parthen and Shannon «Peacasso» Seip, are experts in making healthy food fun for kids. They’ve shared their playful and innovative approach at the White House for the Let’s Move! Program and with many media outlets and have spoken at many conferences.

The founders co-​authored the award-​winning book Bean Appetit: Hip and Healthy Ways to Have Fun with Food (Andrews McMeel Publishing), which features fun recipes and tips to make mealtimes and food prep more fun. It has been featured in nearly every national parenting magazine as well as Good Morning America.
