I love this place, they maintain that kind of old timey feel. great ice cream, great people, great prices. In all fairness I challenge you to find an ice cream cone that I wouldn’t enjoy.

My favorite ice cream place! It’s all about the ice cream and the original flavors. I see a lot of reviews about the service but I can’t say that I’ve had a problem yet. (Same serving demographic as most ice cream places; high school girls and maybe a guy or two.)

I came here twice; got soft serve ice cream both times and it was VERY good and I enjoyed the ice cream. BUT if you come here, especially at night, there are TONS of bugs. Make sure you wear long pants and a long sleeved shirt to prevent bug bites. Put bug spray on. Load your car up with citronella candles before you go. Bring Tiki Lamps to surround your car when you park. And run fast when you get out and back in to your car as the bugs will be bomb-​diving in when the car doors open. Then finally, eat with your mouth closed to prevent the bugs that flew into your car from sneaking into your mouth. ENJOY!

Good ice cream but TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I walked up and greeted the workers, no response. When i was ready to order one of the workers rudely put her screen down and walked away. She made the «execute» decision and was NOT going to service us. Her co worker notice her rude behavior and took us. The other worker that was being rude to us ignored us and took out her phone. When she noticed other customers where coming she helped them. I don’t want to assume that she was racist but we are black, she was white and the customers she helped were white.

I tried a kids size of chocolate chip. It came in a tiny cup — much smaller than other local ice cream shops’ kiddie cups. The ice cream itself was good, but not spectacular. I had read that they put sprinkles on the bottom of the cup as well, so I splurged for rainbow sprinkles. It was a nice touch to have them on the bottom, but as my last few bites approached, I realized the ratio was not all I had imagined. There were too many sticky sprinkles and not enough ice cream go go with them, and I desperately wished I had brought a water bottle.
As for the parking lot, it seemed a little chaotic. I appreciated having one line instead of trying your luck at choosing a window, but the line stretched into the flow of traffic.
I might go back to try something else, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Not sure many of the people reviewing this place were at the same place I was. I ordered a medium hot fudge sundae that was put in a small dish. I doubt it even had 2 scoops of ice cream in it. They put a little hot fudge on it with some whip cream. I looked at it in amazement that I just paid over $ 6.00 for two scoops of ice cream. My wife ordered a waffle cone with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream was good but the waffle cone was hard as a rock. Overall, overpriced and undersized portions. Soc’s is fortunate they are the only outside ice cream place in the area.

Great ice cream, but the line is brutal constantly they have 1 window open with 4 staff members walking around doing nothing.

Best ice cream around!!! My kids love the rocky road ice cream. Sizes are good for the prices and the line always goes quick on a busy night. Glad this place is right around the corner from us!

This place makes all of their own ice creams and they have a ton of flavors to choose from. I typically go. To Richardson’s but was looking for a change. I got a mocha chip frappé and my daughter got a chocolate brownie frappé. Both of us found them to be a tad bit too sweet.
Also, the girl making it didn’t put the cover on the blender but instead used her hand to stop the splashing as it mixed. That turned me off a bit.
Back to Richardson’s for us.

Talk about bang for your buck! Socs gives you so much ice cream! My boyfriend, who is a self-​proclaimed «Ice cream snob» really liked this place too. We went on a weeknight and the line was pretty long, so I can only imagine what it’s like on a weekend! We will definitely be back soon!

Awesome, huge selection of homemade ice cream. The coffee Heath is amazing. The only negative to this place is it’s not enjoyable to eat there because you get swarmed by Mosquitos. I definitely recommend it. But I recommend getting it to go.

Nice home made ice cream with lots of different flavors and the occasional specials.
Good service but the line can get long during summer nights

When you don’t want to take the ride out to Richardson’s this place is a great alternative. Products good and prices match typical ice cream parlor prices.

Yes, the soft serve is delicious, as soft serve tends to be. Not sure why people are calling exceptional to all others, but yes it is delicious. Watch out if you order a medium because you will receive a MOUNTAIN of ice cream. This, however, was not much of an issue for us as we chowed down our cone with gusto.

My friend is obsessed with this place. I finally gave it a try the other day after a long, hot pool day.
I ordered a small Almond Joy and Red Velvet Cheesecake (which was on special). It was E N O R M O U S. Since my friend is a seasoned vet here, she told me to get a cover and an insulated bag and pack it to go. Good idea. Added chocolate jimmies to it. love the fact they put it in the bottom of the cup and coat the scoops with it. Mmmm Almond Joy had great coconut flavor and was loaded with chocolate chunks and almonds. Red Velvet had chunks of cheesecake in it. YuM!
Came back again last week because our other friend wanted to try it. They were out of the Coconut Caramel Fudge frozen yogurt so I got the Coffee Oreo. kid’s size this time. Still enormous and hard for me to finish. This flavor was delicious. Tons of big chunks of oreo in it.

Wish I could give this place 10 stars. NO ONE can touch their vanilla.

Ice cream you scream I def scream for ice cream and this is the place to be.
Great service with a smile and the kiddie cone? it’s for like a 6foot kid or something.

Saugus is the last place I would expect to find homemade lemon lavender ice cream. That seems like the sort of thing available only in Cambridge or Somerville. But alas, Soc’s special ice cream flavors of the week included lemon lavender. Amazing.
The mister and I opted to share something though, so I bypassed the lemon lavender and we agreed to share a small oreo sundae with hot fudge, whipped cream, and nuts. We figured this was a true test of a new (to us, anyway) ice cream spot. And it was good! Really good.
Before we drove to Soc’s, I tried to convince the mister to trek on over to JP Licks instead. He didn’t want to drive that far, and now I’m glad that I didn’t push the issue, because we have this fabulous place right in our backyard.

Honestly, I havent had many flavors… actually, we’ve only tried the vanilla soft serve dipped in chocolate and O. M. G. It is FANTASTIC! This is why the word cream is in the name… I never knew ice cream could taste this amazing, creamy… oh oh, just so dee-​licious.
Their prices are fair, but know that the sizes run HUGE. A small is shareable for us. A large is like a gallon of ice cream on a cone. Insanity. Ok, I definitely got myself in the mood. Im headed over there right now before they close at 10pm.

Everything here is great. I have been going to this place since I was a kid. The first place I have had a dipped Ice cream. Vanilla with Cherry Dip, Heaven!!!
Ice Cream is the best, Prices are great. A Must Try place…
