AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care

Positive:
–I went on a weekend and I barely waited.
–The nurses were very friendly.
–For those with busy schedules, they also do physicals so you can get them done here on the weekend.
Negative:
So… I was having a great experience up until I met with the doctor. The nurse was very friendly. First of all, I waited in the room forever for the doctor to show. I went in with diarrhea for a week… he flat out told me that he doesn’t know what to do to treat it. He was very condescending and passive aggressive. He would ask me questions, then cut me off before I could answer the questions. He didn’t do ANY TESTS (no blood test, no stool sample) and he just prescribed medication. Probably one of the most unprofessional physicians I’ve ever seen in my life.

Have been here in the past without problem, but this is a for profit company and customer service goes a long ways. My wife brought my 4 year old there today with a cut in his head that ended up requiring staples. Problem was that we ended up having to use a different urgent care. We rushed to the clinic and were walking to the door when the nurse/​receptionist quickly got up and locked the door. Guess we know when they close now. But again customer service goes along ways and we will never use this place again and will tell our friends to use a different one as well. Sometimes one bad staff member can ruin your brand.

The place is clean and updated, but the nurses make you feel like it’s your fault you’re sick and they have to work. Think they joined the wrong field of work.

Went there with the minor problem. Gave them my insurance card. They decided to charge me instead. Gave my account to collection, trying to spoil my credit score. Beware!

Horrible!!! They have only one doctor working there! I called and asked how long the wait would be and she said we would get you in and out by and hour!!! I get there and wait two hours in waiting area with heat blasting as the weather outside is 85 degrees! They finally call my name and put me in room for another hour and 15 min! Also notice blood in the sink from other patients! So I decide enough is enough I tell them to just give me money back and they refuse to give me my 169 cash I just paid for service back and tell me the doctor will see u know! So me being sick decide to see the doctor! He had no clue what he was doing and was on some slow pills! This place should be shut down! They are running a scam! Also no manager or supervisor on duty! Which is strange with them dealing with people’s lives! Quacks

Great for weekend hours when your primary isn’t open, clean inside and friendly staff at front desk. However, the doctor seemed like he only knows how to diagnose a few limited ailments and everything else is out of his realm. He spent less than 5 minutes with me (after waiting over an hour) to tell me I didn’t have strep (I never thought I did) and I should stay home from work for 2 days, which my primary would never say unless I was contagious. He only told me it was a virus when I said «so is it a virus?» He then told me I should be taking 4 ibuprofen without even telling me what dosage to take. No advice on what may have caused it and where my other symptoms fit into the equation. I’m sure he is a very knowledgable doctor, but that is not how it came across to me because he barely spent any time asking me about my symptoms. He also asked me if I had kids and when I said ‘no’ he said, ‘why not, don’t you think you should have 5 or 6 of them?’ Couldn’t tell if he was joking but it was a very unprofessional comment. Overall, it was a huge waste of time and next time I will just wait for my primary to be open.

Had a knee problem, was seen in less than 5 minutes, done in 20. Very nice staff. Also had no insurance at the time, very reasonable rate to be seen. Compare that with emergency room.

Fast, professional, clean. Depending on your ailment, a much saner and quicker alternative to going to an ER.

Having suddenly come down with a rather high fever and feeling like I’d been hit by a truck I tried this place for the first time. I got there right as they opened — my primary care opened late on this particular day and I honestly couldn’t wait in pain any longer — and there wasn’t a single person in the waiting room.
The receptionist was very warm and friendly as was the nurse/​medical assistant that took me in and went through all the questions etc. Both very friendly and helpful
The doctor was very thorough, not as warm or friendly as I would’ve hoped for, but he did diagnose me and covered all the basis to make sure I left with a path to being healthy again. I left with a prescription as I had hoped to so I could start getting better sooner rather than later.
They are little on the pricey side compared to just going to your Primary Care, but this was my choice, and the receptionist fully disclosed everything to me and left it as my option to stay or go.
Given my state of health and sense of urgency to feel better soon, Doctors Express was very thorough and definitely had me in and out as quick as they could and as I said, were VERY thorough! So 4 stars, would’ve been 5 if it wasn’t so pricey.

Having recently moved to MA, I haven’t found a primary care physician. I needed to see a doctor this week, and realized my best and quickest option would be an urgent care provider. Checked my insurance provider website and found Doctors Express in Saugus as the closest place to home.
I believe I interacted with 5 different people — from the receptionist, technicians and doctor. Each person was very friendly, helpful and professional. The office, waiting area and examination area all seem new, well kept and clean. Overall, it was a great experience (as great an experience as going to the doctor can be).
I was very impressed and will choose Doctors Express Urgent Care in Saugus again if I need to see a doctor.

Pretty fast considering it was a Saturday afternoon. Went in for earache. Although I was hoping for an antibiotic the dr did give me a prescription for drops. Nice, friendly staff. I would recommend this place if you cant get in to your regular doctor.

Very friendly ad helpful staff. They were very patient with me while I sorted out issues I was having getting my medical records from another travel clinic.

I have been to Doctors Express for two separate issues: dermatitis and an abscess.
I was impressed by the expertise if the physicians in both instances.
The lack of a hassle to be seen and treated is a real joy. And many procedures that can’t be done in my PCP’s office can be done at Doctors Express (labs, cray, minor procedures, etc.)
Dr David Rideout and Dr. Anthony Conti are exactly what I would envision a good and caring physician would be!
I cannot fault anything about either encounter with the staff or the physicians.
I would recommend Doctors Express in a heartbeat. (I wish my PCP and his staff were like Doctors Express).
This is the delivery of medical care as it should be and as we have hoped for …

The wait was 2 hours while there was no patient in the waiting area. The doctor did his job not was very aloof.

I went to Doctor’s Express on September 2 with fever and chills. The doctor decided I had Pelvic Inflammatory Disease which comes from an undetected STD. I assured her that there was no way I had an STD.
She told me she wanted to give me an antibiotic shot and put me on doxycycline. She hadn’t even done any tests. I refused her treatment.
She said she would run tests.
The next day, I went to the emergency room. They correctly diagnosed me with an acute kidney infection.
The following day, I received a call from Doctor’s Express saying that all the tests their doctor had run came back negative. I was not surprised since I knew there was no way I had an STD.
I just received a bill for $ 703 for lab fees for tests ordered by a doctor who completely misdiagnosed me. Not only did she misdiagnose me, she tried to treat me with serious drugs for a condition I did not have.
Her behavior was negligent and reckless.
After calling Doctor’s Express to complain about the situation, they said there is nothing they can do about the lab fees — that I have to pay them. The person I spoke with simply said, «You’ll have to call the lab. We’re at a dead end.» When I asked how I could let the doctor know she had made a grave mistake, the person on the phone said the doctors don’t have voicemail and there was no way to let her know.
So, let’s get this straight. From my experience, we can gather that Doctors Express employs reckless, negligent doctors. And after those doctors run up unnecessary lab costs, Doctors Express not only refuses to take responsibility for those lab costs, but they refuse to provide an outlet through which a patient can notify the doctor of their mistakes.
Is that the kind of establishment you’d trust with your health?

Just went to the Saugus Doctors Express and had excellent experience from the front desk, nurses and doctor. Overall the office looked very clean and well equipped. The Triage Nurse did a thorough review of medical history and vital signs. The doctor was professional and helpful. I was completely impressed by the professional care. We waited only 5 minutes to see the nurse and 5 minutes to see the doctor. I would strongly recommend the Saugus Drs. Express.

I would give this place no stars if it wasn’t for the thorough woman who checked me in and called my insurance to ensure I was covered before being seen by the most useless Doctor ever. In addition, the facility was extremely clean.
This review is based on being seen by DR. ANTHONY CONTI. I had gone to the MinuteClinic at the CVS in Danvers for eye discomfort and a little bubble that had appeared on the white of the eye. The woman at Minute Clinic said she could not confirm conjunctivitis and suggested I go to the Doctor Express because they can do a full exam and confirm and prescribe the antibacterial ointment for conjunctivas. She even calls and confirms that I am coming and for the reason, they said to come and they would take a look at it.
Because it was late, I was seen rather quickly, but the «dr.». Dr. Conti was not wearing a lab coat, did not put on gloves to examine my eye and smelt like the most offensive cheesy cologne I could ever smell. In addition was overly tan and had the worst teeth I have ever seen on a «professional». He literally walks in and says «I DON’T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU»… ummm… ok, aren’t you a «Doctor» and should at least create some creditability before you say you are unsure of the cause of the symptoms? He looked at my eye and never did a full exam (like they said they would at Minute Clinic”). He was basically like it could be, could not be, not sure and «I am not an Eye Doctor». ok. well then why did you confirm it was ok for me to come there, take my $ 15.00 co-​pay and they basically tell me that you are useless? I received the prescription, which hasn’t helped and have now called an eye doctor.
I would say at best, avoid this place unless it is for nominal cold medicine or something basic.

I had a small rash on my face and the next available dermatologist appointment was six months out, so I went here on Saturday afternoon. My visit began pleasantly enough, I was warmly welcomed and filling out the paperwork was a breeze. Helpful staff, nice waiting area, big screen TV and pleasant music. After less than ten minutes, they put me in one of the examination rooms. That’s where the wait began … an hour later I poked my head out and asked if I’d been forgotten (the same time the woman in the room across from me did). It took 90 minutes to be seen, which is not so awful, but the doctor took a look and told me I should go see a dermatologist, but that appointments weren’t usually available for 6 months.
[sarcasm] No kidding, really? A $ 50 copay for something I know already? [/​sarcasm]
I was written a scrip for some cream and I’m happy to report that my face has cleared up.

Anyone who writes a bad review about this place has never stepped foot in the Chelsea MGH Urgent Care. This place is like being on a vacation compared to Chelsea. I was there today and on the front desk they had prepackaged cookies, granola bars, chocolates, etc. They had decent background music playing and magazines were out for the short wait and I was in and out within 45 minutes. The exam rooms have TVs to watch while you wait to be seen. Dr. Conti was very nice!

On the day before Xmas Eve I wanted to see a doctor to confirm whether my «common cold» was a virus or if it turned bacterial. I didn’t know what would be open the next two days, and I drove to the CVS MinuteClinic in Danvers which is closer to my home. They had a 3 ½ hour wait, and they suggested people go to Doctors Express in Saugus.
I arrived, filled out the paperwork, and was told there would be a 20 – 30 minute wait. I also noticed 8 patients in front of me.
After 2 ½ hours, the doctor saw me. Along the way, the front office staff kept apologizing. They had only been open about two weeks and this was their busiest day. I forgave them.
The staff is very friendly, they offer free water bottles and cookies, and there is a large-​screen TV in the waiting room.
I’ll definitely go back again, but on a less-​busy day!
P. S. Oh yeah, the doc told me I still had a virus and prescribed me medicine to counter nasal congestion.
