My parents are hosting a party soon for a large museum to celebrate one of its exhibits coming from Asia. It’s going to be a casual afternoon affair with food and tea and booze.
We’ve been a resident of Saratoga for over 30 years and we are constantly rooting for downtown Saratoga to succeed. We proactively visit these establishments to help them out, in hopes of them thriving as well.
Why is it so hard to support a local spot?! I’m trying so hard to give you our business and you just keep telling me «no». We walked in today fully ready to hand over the credit card but our basic questions couldn’t be answered. We were looking to order a few dozen cupcakes but they weren’t able to show us any pictures of these cupcakes. We asked how much it would cost to individually wrap these cupcakes, the lady behind the counter said we will need to email or call their boss for their special pricing. They should really make the process easy for their customers by proactively emailing me a sheet of cupcakes and flavors and pricing for these orders. You already know exactly what I’m looking for, why do I need to repeat my requests again?
I really wish they could 1. Train their employees to help customers as if it were their own business 2. Have readily available information!

Having seen the cupcake wars episode where Minicakes won the competition, I’d be lying if I wasn’t today I was optimistic and had pretty high expectations of Tasha’s. And I’ve got to say. the cupcakes were amazing! Despite the higher price tags associated with these cupcakes, the flavors like the burnt almond (my personal favorite) tasted phenomenal. Although I don’t live around Saratoga, I would probably come to the city again just to get the cupcakes!

The cupcakes here look super cute, but the overall taste was just ok. I tried the Salted Caramel Mocha (Mini/​$ 2) & Burnt Almond (Mini/​$ 2), and I thought both were just ok. They were on the sweet side, and the salted caramel mocha had too much coffee flavor for my preference. The burnt almond had too much almond extract in it. I would still give their cupcakes another try if I were in the area, but wouldn’t go out of my way to stop in.

Went in to discuss ordering a birthday cake for my daughters birthday. We needed a cake for 20 people and I asked if I’d be able to sample the different types of cakes prior to placing an order. They don’t do sampling unless it’s for a wedding. Ok that’s fine… I can purchase and try the chocolate and confetti and choose between the two.
We then begin to discuss pricing and I couldn’t believe the prices. They were outrageous! A smash cake (basically a 4 inch buttercream cake that is supposed to be for your 1 year old to enjoy/​smash into on their own), costs $ 40 for the basic cake. For a cake for 19 people, you’re looking at spending at least $ 123 for the basic cake plus more for additions!
I had my baby shower in OC with a beautiful cake for 40 people, cost us $ 60. And they allowed us to try the types of cake prior to choosing.
This place is a joke. I live just down the street and would never consider going here again. If you don’t mind spending a ridiculous amount of money on a birthday cake, then this is the place to go!

This place has tasty cupackes, some of the best that I’ve tried honestly and the chocolate chip cookies are great they’re not too oily. On sundays they have buy one get half off on the second from 4 – 5 (:

It wasn’t spectacular… at least in terms of taste. I came here after lunch and the store was empty. I grabbed a red velvet and a green tea lemon cupcake. I don’t know when these were made but they were dry and didn’t taste fresh at all.
I checked in on Unilocal and got a free cookie which actually tasted better than the cupcakes. pretty sad.
Oh and it seems like the workers didn’t notice they were out of napkins in the dispenser. Odd because it didn’t seem all that busy.
$ 4.50 for 2 very mini cupcakes… and a free cookie isn’t so bad, but I don’t think it was worth it.

I’ve promised the little girl I nanny that we will stop in every few days so we can try all the flavors. So far, it’s hard to pick a favorite. It’s probably a tie between strawberry (the frosting was amazing) and the carrot cake. The cupcakes are smaller so it’s fun to compare two flavors at a time; I think it’s a fun pastime with little ones.

The Elvis and sweet potato cupcakes are the best!

Cute shop! Pricey little cupcakes, but it was to be expected. Lots of flavors to choose from! Cupcakes are good, great flavor and texture.

The cupcakes here are quite tasty but also quite expensive. We had an Oreo cream cupcake and a vanilla cream cupcake. Both were quite tasty. Two cupcakes were already $ 6. There is a small area where you can eat within the shop, but most people come to buy and go. This store also does catering for parties and events if you need it. Due to the small shop, cupcakes are made fresh for the customers. I personally would not go out of my way to come here for cupcakes, but if I am nearby, I think I would be enticed to many times :).

I was kind of disappointed by the cupcakes I purchased at Minicakes. I saw the good reviews and the «winner of cake wars» sign in their window and was excited to try them! We stopped by in the late afternoon and they didn’t have much left. I guess you need to get here early for the full selection. We tried the cookies and cream, chocolate, burnt almond and red velvet. They weren’t terribly moist and there was just nothing special about them. They were decent, just not great.

I chose Mini Cakes by Tasha for my wedding and I am SO glad I did. We signed up for one of her tasting sessions that she holds for soon-​to-​be wedded couples. I don’t believe she charges for this tasting session, all you do is call and sign up for one and when you arrive the store is open only for the couples who have signed up. She has tasting stations set up with mini cupcakes of various flavors. The flavors are creative, unique, and delicious. She also serves you champagne :)
Then, she sits down with you to discuss your ideas for your wedding cake. My husband and I had already decided that we wanted a cake bar with a variety of cakes and flavors. Every other bakery we looked into tried to deter us from this due to how «difficult» it would be to deliver. Also, it seemed to be outrageously expensive. Tasha not only loved the idea, but was also the only bakery who didn’t have a problem with delivery, AND also did not charge us for delivery since our wedding was local.
We also ended up getting a three-​tiered cake for us to cut into because her tiered cakes are gorgeous.
The icing on the cake (;-) was the price. For 6 7inch rounds and one 3 tiered cake our grand total was a little over $ 700. Getting a wedding cake (let alone 7 of them) for under a grand is absolutely unheard of.
The cakes were a hit! Everyone loved them and they were stunning! Our favorite flavors were strawberry, red velvet, rocky road stout, and burnt almond. Can’t wait to try the Elvis (our top tier) on our 1 year anniversary. The pictures speak for themselves. Thank you for a wonderful experience, Tasha! I highly recommend!

My wife and I hired Natasha at Saratoga Springs while we were doing a food tasting. At the time, we did not have a cake vendor yet, so we decided to try Natasha’s cupcakes. We fell in love with the flavors, and decided that she would create our dessert.
We have nothing but positive reviews for Natasha. She was super attentive and responsive – no matter how big or small the question was.
During our food tasting, at her awesome shop, she treated us to different flavors and made suggestions that made sense for our wedding/​theme.
We are delighted to have selected Natasha, and she was definitely a big player in ensuring our wedding was a total success; everyone loved the cupcakes!

I have read the review before make decided to order custom birthday day. I have even went to the store to purchase the cup cake n my 1^st trip just to decide if they are really great. First time I meet with the employee (Not the Onwer) she is super nice, friendly, and helpful. That is the first impression for me to decide move forward with birthday cake custom. I still have not proceed to order due to considering the different choices.
Cupcake the large one was $ 3.25, and I feel they are a little pricey but overall not as good as Kara’s cupcake or other popular type. The only reason I think Minicabs by Tasha become so popular due to they win cupcake competition.
Decided to proceed after a few email and pay for the deposit in advance but have not consider the flavor of the cakes. During my second trip to try the cupcake, and kind of surprise of their service provided by the owner is different. We did purchase 6 different type of cup cakes. I can tell the owner were not a great sales person. (She should be able to offer a few small type of cupcake as complimentary) Anyway I didn’t ask for any complimentary but we did specific say we want to try out a few before proceed to decide which flavor.
First of all my kid love cupcake, and I don’t mind to spend and buy cupcake for kid to enjoy it. The worst service I received is when I ask the owner for water since my eat ask for it, and she gave me the tiny little paper cup of water. I ask if I can get the bigger cup, and she say NO for water since it cost money using the bigger cup. But we can get water from Starbuck next door.
During this 2^nd trip, we found out there are some mic-​communication in email regarding the cake size and price, and we are ask to pay additional $ 50. I don’t mind paying the extra since it may be my fault did not clarify it clearly to her (the owner). If I spend more than $ 200 +++ on cake, and I pay for every cupcake flavor I purchase, I can see she is not really a sales oriented person.
I didn’t even bargain or ask for any discount. Proceed to decide the flavor of the birthday cake. My kid did ask to buy another ½ dozen of cupcakes, and I have decide not to buy if she can’t even offer a lightly bigger cup of water. But she is fine to provide the tiny little paper cup of water with 2 sips only. Don’t you think is a waste of her time to walk to the back and front multiple time.
Notice that the way how the onwer handle the cup cake and arranging the cup cake or pastries, she don’t wear glove. I just observed and I think it look more hygienic if she can wear glove before handling any food. Absolutely understand they wash they hand, but in food and beverage industries, I think is better to wear any disposable glove prior to food handling.
Now I got the birthday cake after couple of week advance order. I will really compliment their cake decoration is PERFECT and EXCELLENT!
The most disappointment is the quality of the cake inside really ruin the birthday party. Cake is totally wet and feel like not baked properly. I have no idea what to say, and I’m really speechless when everyone complain is the cake is baked ?? Most of the guess do compliment the decoration is GREAT! But the cake is totally I give «ZERO» rating if I can apply to it. (I want to say the cake is not moist, but is still wet and under baked) Three (3) things which can cause the cake issue is either baked in too short time frame, mixture is not correct or baked on wrong temperature.
Overall why i gave 2 stars;
1) Decoration is PERFECT and Excellent on the cake which I can consider 5 stars.
2) Service is not great
3) Cake quality is terrible!
They person working in the kitchen may work very hard to do the decoration, and they deserve the compliment.
I really think they should change their service and price. Cupcake base on your service is not worth $ 3.25. If anyone reading this review, and decide to order birthday cake, please reconsider or discuss your term with the owner before proceed.

Tried the chocolate cupcake and it’s pretty good! Not too sweet. I liked how the cupcake was super soft and spongey rather than being crumbly and hard, but the frosting isn’t as good as Kara’s Cupcakes. The frosting here is a bit harder than Kara’s but not as hard as the frosting you get from store bought cupcakes. However, it’s not as soft and airy as Kara’s is. Kara’s cupcake frosting is almost like whipped cream texture.
Overall, probably won’t be back b/​c I’d rather go to Kara’s, BUT if you’re in the area and craving a cupcake, this is a good place to stop at.

I’m not sure they’re worth $ 3.25. The cupcake was slightly dry and the flavor wasn’t very strong. And it could have been because it was right at closing time. I was hoping they’d give me a discount, especially since they only had 3 left. I ended up picking the matcha cupcake with sesame frosting.
I definitely wouldn’t go out of my way to get another cupcake, but maybe if I was in the area.

The raspberry white chocolate is something I should have skipped. Unspectacular.
The chocolate and the vanilla were better tasting.
But the cake was dense and lacked that moistness you’re used to having when you ate a cupcake as a kid. From the firm peel of the paper cup off the cake, I knew there was something off about it.
If the cake can’t stand on its own, the frosting can’t — and shouldn’t — make up for it.
They also sell mini versions of their cupcakes as well as a mini-​baked apple pie, which actually was the best item there.
Winning Cupcake Wars can raise the expectations of interested customers, and this customer felt a little let down by the cupcakes.
It’s still worth the try though for many Food Network fans or bakery/​cupcake/​cake aficionados.

I remember when they were scoping this space out. just the shell at that time I leave town for a while and it’s done. Cool little space with a solid variety. Wanted to get a bunch of things so Im glad they had mini cupcakes as the name implied. Red velvet, lemon, sweet potato and the Elvis (banana, peanut butter, bacon crisp) were all solid. $ 8 for those maybe on the steep side but i guess they’re paying Saratoga rent. Looks like they have tea and ice cream too so Ill hit those the next time

When I heard that one of the Cupcake Wars winners was opening a shop up in the Bay Area, I was super excited as I love my sweets! I don’t get down to the South Bay often, but last weekend we had a birthday party to attend so my wife suggested that we make a little detour after the party. That suggestion brought no arguments from me!
The place has a nice homey feeling as you walk in, there’s the display case in front of you, you can see them baking in the back, and there’s a little counter where you can sit and enjoy your baked goodness. My wife and I looked at the display case and tried the burnt almond, the toffee crunch, and the cookies and cream. Two things to note: the flavors rotate through the week so you may want to check the website to see if they have the flavor you want on the day you visit. Also, they don’t always have all their cupcakes in the display case, so if a flavor looks like it has sold out, ask! There wasn’t a toffee crunch in the case when we got there, but they had more in the back that they hadn’t put out yet…
The toffee crunch was amazing! Deep, rich chocolate flavor, the cake was nice and moist, the toffee bits added a nice layer of flavor and gave it a crunch. Definitely a winner for this chocolate lover!
The burnt almond was a winner as well, it had a much lighter sweetness to it than the toffee crunch and felt a lot «lighter». The almonds were nice and crunchy as well. This is a great one if you’re looking for something not too sweet.
We loved the cookies and cream as well. If you’ve ever wondered what an Oreo would taste like if it were a cupcake, well, here is your answer! It reminded me of the cupcake version of the cookies and cream cupcake from Anthony’s Cookies in SF. I saw actual packages of Oreos on a shelf in the kitchen, so I’m sure they use the good stuff!
They serve Double Rainbow ice cream as well and I’ve been told they make a killer milkshake as well. Not sure if I’ll have the stomach capacity to put that down after eating many yummy cupcakes, but if there is, I’ll definitely try! Can’t wait to come back and try more of the flavors!

Minicakes by Tasha was originally a «cottage food business,» with Tasha baking in her home while also working a regular day job. She competed in Cupcake Wars in November and won the
challenge, earning her $ 10k. Now she has opened a storefront in downtown Saratoga, right next to Starbucks and Y&L Style Bar.
They had a soft opening earlier this week and a Grand Opening yesterday on August 30. The menu is limited since they just opened, so they had vanilla, cookies and cream, cookie dough, chocolate, red velvet, and peanut butter. In the future they will have Double Rainbow ice cream, cookies, cake pops, breads, and coffee & tea.
I was impressed with how moist the cupcakes are. I tried the vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet, and they were all extremely moist (but not oily). My only complaint is the frosting was a little too sweet. However the quality of the cupcakes and frosting were excellent.
My favorites were the vanilla (although I wish it were vanilla bean) and red velvet, and my sister liked the chocolate. I personally prefer a darker chocolate cake and frosting.
Overall, I’d say really good cupcakes and probably some of the best in the area. I like it better than Frosted, Kara’s, and Sprinkles.
The bakery is bright and cheerful, with white and light blue décor. They have an open kitchen so you can see Tasha and her assistants mixing and decorating the cupcakes.
Standard sized cupcakes are $ 3.25 and minis are 2/​$ 4 (you have to buy 2). They accept credit card and there doesn’t seem to be a minimum! Inside there are high counters so you can stand and enjoy your sweets (but no chairs yet). There are also some tables outside that will probably be shared between Minicakes and Starbucks.
