Sun N Fun Carefree RV Resort

Only want to say this is the #1 RV resort but where is the sirens and information when bad weather hits the area. A neighbor called the office and ask where they were suppose to go during our severe weather (last night) and were told THEY HAD NO IDEA;Really.
It’s a good thing we can think for our selves…

A person at the gate was rude. They require you to wear a bracelet all the time and if you try to get in without it they act like you are a criminal. It would have been better if they would have checked my registration to see that I was supposed to be there. Maybe explain why they needed me to always wear a bracelet? I will unlikely come back. The sites are too close together. They have so many strict rules that it is not fun camping. It is not that I want to break the rules, but felt I needed to double check all I was doing at all times to make sure I was not messing up. I gave it two stars since not everyone was rude.

A good place for rv stays. Close to downtown Sarasota, St Armonds circle, beaches, shopping, Ringling museum, etc.
Sun n Fun is «pricey» and some policies are not «pocket friendly » …for example, upon making reservations you must pay in full at that time. They had my $$ in full for a year before my arrival! At $ 2,000 …there is much you could do with it over a year.
If you need to depart early? Don’t expect a refund!
There are lots of rules but worth 1500 rv/​park models there is a high population. So I guess lots of rules are nessecary.
I don’t like that it’s quickly turning into a park model trailer park. Not the same atmosphere as rv’g neighbors would be.
They don’t have a store for last minute buys like bread, milk, condiments, etc.
The pool, while extremely crowded, is very nice with a bar and grill. The wellness ctr is very nice for those that use it.
It is a very active community for older residents as far as pickle ball, tennis, volley ball, etc.
I’ve come here in a motorhome for 8 yrs for quick stays mostly (1 to 2 weeks) and a few month to 6 week stays. I’ve always liked it but am ready to leave each time. I typically move on to less busy parks from here.
Yes, I recommend it but not for a permanent place to live the 9 months only allowed.

I heard about through an RVing podcast and booked in the middle of summer for a January stay. We stayed in the Queens loop a all pull-​through RV area that is right in the hart of all the action in the park. We’d discovered pickle ball and archery an am now hooked on both. There is so much to do and the staff was awesome. I loved playing ping pong on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a great bunch of guys. I miss some really great people we were neighbors with too. Yes, it’s a little pricey but your going to have a great time, guaranteed.

Great park, very clean and lots to do! It. Is packed during peak season. Be sure to make a reservation!

We stayed here in 2013 for a week, liked it so much we made a reservation for a month in 2014 – 15. We stayed in the same area and found that people remembered us from our short stay the year before! Even with a different motorhome! We became good friends with several folks who live there full time, even joined their ‘Scooter Gang” — we were the token Harley riders. We went on their weekly rides to off the beaten path destinations, my favorite being Linger Lodge for lunch. Our daughter and 2 of her kids came to visit before Christmas and we had a blast. Kids are very welcome, because a cold front came through, the water slide wasn’t open, but the Olympic size pool was, the hot tubs were and we used them plenty. Since we spent most of our time at the various beaches, favorites being Siesta Key and Lido, along with paleo shark tooth hunting at Venice beaches, we didn’t have a lot of time to use the work out rooms, the many activities, go for massages, make crafts or all the other things offered. We’ll be back to spend more time next year with our friends!

Extremely disappointed in the way I was handled when I arrived to pick up my child from a birthday party she attended there. I dropped my child off today at 10 am for a birthday party. Upon arrival I told the gate attendant I was not staying just dropping my child off for a birthday party. I was given a pool parking pass and was told to display it on my return to allow access into the gate to pick her back up. Well I arrived a little after 8 pm to pick her up and was denied access to pick up my child, even though I still had the parking pass as instructed. My child has attended many parties there and this is the first time I’ve had a problem and I have never stayed. I always drop her off. I was treated poorly like some sort of criminal trying to break in. Needless to say I was pissed and I almost had to call the police as I was not allowed to get my child and was unable to reach the parent at the party because her phone died. Wouldn’t that have been embarrassing for Sun N Fun having to have the authorities arrive so I could retrieve my child.

Great place, campsite was easy to get into, staff was friendly, kids had a great time at the pool, very clean.

Sadly we will not be returning to the park. We stayed in 2013 and had a great experience, pool was never packed and the rates were great. Stayed this summer and the rates were double compared to last year no good sam or military discounts offered any more :(. This year the pool was packed due to selling the daily passes, took my kids one day and had to sit next to a bunch of drunken idiots and listen to their verbal fighting which defiantly made it horrible. Why should I pay so much to stay at the resort when i can go stay somewhere cheaper and just pay the daily rate to come in. As someone who paid a lot to stay for the week I feel like the new owners have cheapened the place by opening up the daily passes and letting so many people in and makes me not want to come back. Who ever took over and doubled the rates and now lets so many people in have done a disservice to this place. Don’t get me wrong it is clean and maintained however fighting to just find a space in the pool to swim isn’t high on my list. We were hoping to make it an every summer stay but looks like were in the hunt for somewhere else now :(

Kids LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Summer time rolls and this is the place they want to be in Sarasota when it’s HOT.
There’s a giant snaking water slide with a height requirement (thank goodness), a baby pool, a regular pool, snack bar, alcoholic beverages and not. Plenty of seats, a great party place under tents, pretty much everything a Floridian or visitor can want in the summer.
I have only been here for birthday parties, but I hear there’s residences allowed up to only nine months out of the year, perfect for snow birds.

This is a very large rv/​mobile home resort with two levels of amenities; included and not included. The pool, tennis, jump pad and other typical amenities are included in your rental fee. The huge water slide, indoor pool obstacle course, kiddie boats and like amenities are at an extra fee. They have full hook up RV sites mostly grassy with small concrete pads with a picnic table. The grounds are well kept but they don’t pick up trash; you have to drive to the front to drop it off. They have an onsite carwash area; very convenient and lots of gas, grocery, restaurants and commerce a couple miles west, just past I-​75. The staff is friendly and professional. Very family friendly resort and we will visit again.

Our family has a lot of fun at this park! The pool area is great, there are a lot of activities and you can choose to be as busy/​or not busy, as you would like. Everyone is friendly and the staff is very helpful. A 15 minute drive to the best beach in the USA (Siesta Key) and close to a lot of great activities and restaurants in the greater Sarasota area. A wonderful place to unwind and relax!

If you are looking for a great lunch this pkace has great salds and sandwiches with poolside ambience. We had the special of the day which was chicken cesaer salads for five bucks. It was generously proportioned and much better than salads I’ve paid over ten bucks for. It could feed two, really. The wraps we ordered could also feed two and were delicious. A bargain and poolside ambience. What more could you ask for. If I lived here I might even think of bringing clients here on a nice, not too hot, day.

When my parents told me they were going to be living in an RV park in the winter, I was skeptical. HOWEVER, this place suprised me in all that it had to offer even people my age :)
It is a large park, well lit and maintained, very clean, free wireless, big pool, multiple hot tubs and a restaruant and bar on-​site. I have made several trips there to stay with my parents for holidays, and it’s relaxing and fun. There are small workout centers with weights and equipment we can use for free, they have lawn bowling, tennis, bocci ball, sand volleyball, RC boat races, and shuffleboard among other things… Their pool is very large, and their hot tubs are also fairly large too. Never overcrowded which is nice. Have not eaten at the bar or restaurant yet (my mom is an amazing cook, even in a tiny RV kitchen), but it always seems to have happy patrons there.
A really nice feature is that the place is pet friendly. Not only are dogs allowed but they have several large dog parks, paved paths to walk on and they even have at least one pet prade for the holidays.
For activities, there are always things going on. I know there is an active red hat club there that my mom enjoys participating in, but there are also classes, a craft room with inexpensive classes, regular potlucks and holiday parties. Plenty to keep anyone busy.
For regulars, they also even have a full service post office, garbage dump, recycling, and water and electric hookup for the long haul. If you don’t have an RV they apparently also rent RVs as well as permanent residences on-​site.
Best part of it all, you are only 10 minutes from beaches and 15 minutes from the Sarasota airport. If you want to head to Tampa, you can be there in 40 minutes or less. We were in St Pete in 25 minutes… If you want to stay close by, there are plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and lots of shopping nearby as well.
Definitely worth checking out…

HUGE park, a ton of things to do HOWEVER, when we were there, most everything was closed. We were disappointed that so many of the things advertised on their website were closed or have moved out. Plus, the welcome center staff don’t seem to know what they are doing except for Amber.
