History

Established in 2009.

After Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005, friends Cathy Deano and Renee Maloney found a way to twist a tragedy into a purpose. Cathy and Renee started Corks N Canvas in 2007 in Mandeville, Louisiana. The concept pairs instructional art with friends, wine and a lively instructor to produce individual works of art. With four locations in the Greater New Orleans Area, the company began franchising the business as Painting with a Twist® in 2009. Painting with a Twist® has been the #1 Ranked ‘Paint & Sip’ Franchise by Entrepreneur Magazine three years in a row.

We worked together in a local non-​profit for many years. After attending a painting party in St. Petersburg with Sheri’s daughter, Nicole, the trio decided Sarasota needed a Painting with a Twist. With both of us coming from the non-​profit community, the PWAT philosophy of giving back to local charities through Painting with a Purpose is a perfect fit for us. After one year in, we are opening a second studio in Bradenton. Watching our customers relax, have fun and discover some hidden talent is so rewarding!

Interesting Fact: Hope and Sheri’s children married and they share two wonderful grandsons — Dylan and Mason. The boys love coming to the studio and painting with other kids.

Absolutely fun evening with my salon company team. We reserved the private party room and had 18 eager painters. Our fearless instructor Sierra was awesome! Guiding us along and giving us great tips. We may be artists behind our chairs at work, however painting on canvas all together different!

My sister had been to Painting With a Twist before, so she had decided that she wanted to have her birthday there. Phil was our instructor… he was a lot of fun & has had a lot of artistic experience. We had so much fun & before I knew it my bottle of wine was gone & it was time to go! I plan on coming back… hopefully soon!

Arrived early. Super sweet staff-​warm welcome by the artist Connie and her assistant, Jewel. Had heard this was a blast, and it completely delivered. 3 hr. Mermaid class felt like an hour! Love how they allow you to bring wine and snacks! Great music-​current and hip. Connie sang along to the music as she taught-​super cute. Brought my bf and was initially worried as he was overpowered by all women-​however, he had a blast! Connie made a fuss over him, even showcased his work in front of the class-​He had the biggest smile! Laid back. Suggestion-​a bigger screen would be nice to see in detail-​as if her example was blown up. Will absolutely go again!!! Go with the grain or be as creative as you can, I simply can’t believe I painted a decent looking piece of art!!! Thanks so much and I can’t wait to come back!

Great time at Painting with a Twist… We did a fundraiser for Sarasota K9 Search n Rescue. Our instructor Lt Dan and Dante were awesome! I highly recommend this’s event for a fun 2 hours of music, laughs and painting! Well worth the price!

What a great & creative night out! Five of us girls went for an evening out & we had a blast! What better way to spend a night then with good friends creating not only a painting you did together but memories that go with it too! Chelsea & Connie were just FAB!

Connie was our instructor. She was fun, energetic and helpful. We arrived early gathered together sipping on wine. Everyone appeared to have a great time, one group of ladies were together as a birthday gift for their friend another was painting to give as a gift to a friend and a three generation family were embracing loving memories together. This is an excellent was to spend quality educational time with family and friends. This would also be good for a business group gathering event. Two hours of educational excitement creating a priceless masterpiece and spending quality with friends and family.

One of the best ways to spend time with your friends. Drink wine and paint, what more could you ask for? :)
You reserve your spot (about $ 35) and arrive early or request seat arrangements prior to arriving. They set you up with canvas, smocks/​aprons, brushes, water, paints, bottle openers, plates, napkins and cups. You just bring yourself and whatever you want to consume.
The moderator/​instructor is pleasant, entertaining, and easy to follow. You don’t have to be an artist to enjoy your time here, but you will create your own masterpiece and have fun doing it.
They throw private parties and events for kids, which is something to consider. Hooray for them.
