Best place in Sarasota, the tacos are a MUST and it’s a family owned business which is so great to see in the community. I love coming here with friends and the staff is always very friendly.

This place rules. You can get 1 pound of corn tortillas, a half pound of whatever meat you like, plus limes, hot sauce, and pico de gallo ALLFORUNDER $ 7. That’s like eight bitchin’ tacos. Not even in L.A. did I find a deal like that. Beyond tacos, their menu is varied and I can’t wait to try everything on it. Artisan popsicles, flan, even groceries! If you want real Mexican street food at a great price you have to check this place out. It has changed my life. Do not be fooled by negative reviews posted by profile pic-less people with no friends.

Food was just okay. Service is terrible. The cashiers have a bad attitude and are incredibly lazy. The trash cans were overflowing. There are much better Mexican restaurants in town, with a much friendlier and helpful staff.

Great tacos but the register girls love writing hateful shit about gringos that come in. If you speak Spanish you will be amazed.

This place is awesome! My husband and I went for lunch and it was amazing then we went shopping and got all kinds of things for our next Mexican meal at home. It is nothing to look at on the outside but VERY worth going in to explore.

Does anyone know why they’ve been closed for about a week? They have the best home made tortillas ever!

I have a thing for authentic markets, dives and tacos. This place fills the bill. Park in the lot in the rear. Slip in the back door and relax a moment to take it all in. You’ll see booths and seating dead ahead. To the front left is where the magic goes down if you came for prepared food. There is a board overhead with the menu(no English here btw) There is a register up by the tortilla machine. If you are used to ordering from taco vans and such. You are good to go. If not… Just be slow and polite. Most of the employees speak ok to perfect English but this ain’t some Americanized mess. So I come here for the market most of the time. When you slip in that back door take a left and follow around passed the main check-out counter to the back. Glorious, ain’t it?! Notice the vegi section on the right. Go there first and grab a basket hidden back that way. Limes, cilantro, tomatillos, chillis, that delicate leafy green stuff I can’t remember the name of but has a hint of lemon and tastes divine. Lots of goodness here. The meat counter. I personally come here for two things in particular. Beef tongue(Lengua) and al Pastor. The Pastor is the pork with pineapples on top. Perfectly marinated and ready to toss in a pan and cook. At around $ 4.50/lb you can have homemade fresh tacos in a flash. nom Check the bottled sauce collection and grab some cheese. Look around. Notice the price on imported beer? I come hear just to buy beer on occasion. Check –out is important. On the counter you should see boxes of avocados and mangoes. The avocados are all ripe and perfect. Same for the mangoes. As you are being rung up ask for a pound(or more) of tortillas. These are fresh off the press corn goodness for $ 1/lb. They will give you a slip of paper. Take that slip up to the counter at the front of the store and redeem for said goodness. I think I covered the important points as I know them. Just be polite and get to know the place. Soon you’ll be a regular because this is where it’s at in Sarasota folks. Not like the insanity that is Acapulco Tropical but imo this is a good thing. Friendly, tasty, and convenient to downtown srq makes this place a winner.
