Delphinus: Luxury Charter

U.S.C.G. Master Captain Vasily Marinin, owner, took six of us on a fabulous sunset cruise on this classic French design catamaran, «Delphinus.» This sailing trip was absolutely wonderful. Captain Vasily is experienced and confident while being accommodating and friendly. He spoke lovingly about his catamaran, a well-​loved and beautifully designed craft. Our three-​hour tour took us around Sarasota Bay, perfect for our low-​key night, including a «just barely making it under» passing under Ringling Bridge. A thrill. We enjoyed total freedom to be ourselves and were quite comfortable singing and dancing as the sun set around us. At the end of the tour, Vasily DJ’d a set of French dance music which my kids adored as they put on a dance show on the front tarp.
The crown jewel of the evening was hearing Vasily on his guitar – this guy can jam! His fingers bounced and slid their way through a beautiful Russian love song about sunsets as well as several other incredibly complex jams – think Spanish guitar at its best. We felt like old family friends.
If you’re looking for a brand new yacht and an impersonal stranger-​packed experience, this is not the trip for you. Captain Vasily books 2,3,4, or 6 hour day or sunset sails. Also available for overnights. He is available for public, shared charters and private charters alike. His pick up point for us was Centennial Park boat ramp located near the Van Wezel, but his website specifies several other possible pick up points as well.
