My wife Donna and I opened our doors in August of 1991 in an empty storefront that had been vacated unexpectedly and quite abruptly a few months earlier (that business was, coincidentally, also an art supply store), Art & Frame of Sarasota quickly gained a reputation for excellent quality and service. For a long time, our customers would ask; «What have you done to the store? Did you paint or something?» I would then explain, how we were a new store with new owners.

Today, we are the most well-​stocked and certainly one of the most well-​respected art supply and custom framing stores in the area – maybe even in the whole state.” In 1992, we had the unique honor to win Colart’s, first, last and only «Retailer of the Year» award. Our custom framing department has won several awards as well. We have been the Sarasota Herald Tribune’s Readers Choice Awards «Best Picture Framing Service» several times.
