Water Heaters Only

Called WHO after our 75 Gallon LP heater died. Customer service instructed us they had no WH’s that would fit our needs, they would have to locate one. If WH’s is ALL you do, wouldn’t it make sense to stock ALL versions? Asked about tankless, wanted to sell us 2 units at $ 8,000 to $ 10,000 installed when one 11 GPM is all we needed. What a RIP OFF!

Jim G. came by my place on 1÷21÷15 to replace my water heater. He was prompt, courteous, and went about the job very professionally. The entire process was quick and I actually watched the whole thing because I enjoy watching home repairs (although working on them myself is a different story sometimes). Jim was a very funny guy and also very honest. He answered my questions very clearly and I am satisfied with the service I received.

I called the (888) number listed on the sticker put on my water heater and spoke to a man that was VERY unhelpful with poor customer service. He always responded with «okay…» He also hung up on me. Please work on your customer service skills///!!

If Unilocal would let me rate it a zero star, this place would surely have that honor. I am simply disgusted by this company’s business practices. Here are my experience details.
We purchased a 9-​year-​old home less than 2 months ago with a thorough home inspection report being completed prior to the purchase. The water heater in the home located in the garage with all the earthquake straps, etc. was listed as working fine and installed within code requirements. I mean, the house is just 9 years old and so is this water heater. We also purchased a home warranty plan with HISCO aka Cress aka Buyers Protection at the time of escrow closing. Now here is the juicy part. A week ago, I noticed the water heater had a small amount of water draining into the catch pan. It doesn’t take a freakin’ genius to realize that this water heater had a pin hole sized leak and was on its way out. I called HISCO to report a claim. They said that they would make an appointment with a local handyman who would then call to confirm the appointment and come out. Fast forward two days and no such call ever came thru. So we called HISCO back and they said that they would make an appointment with another handyman and that’s when Water Heaters Only arrived at the scene.
They came on July 4^th and noted the leak, determined that the entire water heater unit needed to be replaced and that it would be covered under warranty except for the $ 300+ in additional work which wouldn’t be covered by HISCO. WTF? When asked for an explanation, a guy named Bill, the rudest MF this side of the Mississippi called me to, not explain the additional charges, but give me a lecture as to why it would be better for me to get the work done thru HISCO since HISCO would only pay out $ 300 and change if I asked to be cashed out for the water heater work instead of getting it done with their company. There is no fucking way that a water heater (50 gallons) can be bought and installed for $ 300 bucks and this company knows it. It would cost $ 800 at the minimum. Anyway, the handyman present at the scene (Pete, I think, after arriving over 30 minutes late all the way from Jamul or somewhere) tried to explain that the extra $ 300 charge directly to me would be for additional items like the earthquake bracing (already present on the current water heater), flex pipes and some other bullshit. It was just their way of padding on the bill because it turns out that the insurance company, HISCO, only pays Water Heaters Plus a total of $ 429 per water heater change out work and again, the market price for such a job is close to $ 800. So what does sneaky Water Heaters Plus do? They charge the customer the difference and pass it on as line items when such work is not necessary. I mean, the water heater and the building is 9 years old only. It’s up to San Diego City codes. It was verified being up to code less than 2 months ago by the Home Inspector in his written report. I tried to explain all of this, but Water Heaters Plus (Bill in particular), didn’t want to listen to any of this because they are now so used to screwing innocent customers with insurance around. Anyway, long story short, I kicked them out of my house and will cancel the HISCO policy in the next few days. And the moral of this review is: DON’T do business with Water Heaters Plus. They are crooks!

Our water heater was showing signs of leaking, that and it had a tag that said it was from 1983. We knew it was ready to go. Water heaters only was referred to us by our home warranty company. I was a bit concerned because we usually research companies before we have anyone work on our house but we went ahead with there recommendation. Jim our tech show up on time and called! Not many contractors do both.
Jim worked efficiently until till the whole process was taken care of. Our new water heater looks less scary and is secure. We will recommend Water Heaters Only to friends in need of this service. Cust. FN 3 427 444

This review is for Joan Bennett order # 1 034 005 I was at her home when Derick came to install her water heater yesterday. He was great honest and straight forward. She is on a budget and he did not try and sell her on items she did not need. He was very informative and got the job done in a timely manner. I have 21 years in the Customer Service industry and what a breath of fresh air to find a company that does what they say there are going to do and gets the job done. Thank you!!!

Pete (FN 3 409 229) did a fantastic job of evaluating our situation, identifying the problem and solving it. He was very courteous, knowledgeable and informative and he managed to identify and fix our water heater issue all in less than an hour! Great job!
