Union Bank of California

It saddens me to write this review. I’ve been with this branch for many years and have been a cheerleader and have recruited customers for them. They used to be top notch! We will be closing all of our accounts soon. My blood pressure goes up every time I go in there.
1. Their ATM’s don’t accept electronic checks, so I have to use the drive-​thru or walk in. These same checks are accepted by my credit union ATM, so it’s a Union Bank thing.
2. The drive through has been out of commission for six months. I’m super busy, so I usually multi-​task at the drive through. Without the drive through and without the ability to deposit electronic checks in their ATM, I have no choice but to go stand in line inside the bank and can only do my banking during the day. They typically only have two tellers, so you usually have to wait. I voiced my dissatisfaction and their suggestion was that I could go to one of their other locations. There’s no other branch near the Santee branch.
3. I’ve had a safety deposit box there for several years. They have charged me $ 20 for as long as I can remember. It just renewed. The new charge is $ 50. Seriously? A 250% increase for a little tiny box, that I maybe access twice a year? Gougers!
I could go on, but I think you get the picture. I don’t know what changed, but Union Bank you’re fired! The only thing going for you is that the tellers there are super sweet. If I was one of them, I’d find another employer that cares about their customers.

Worst bank by far! Have had multiple problems since I opened my bank a year ago. Then they decide to close my account two days before my taxes were to deposited in there! If I could give 0 stars I would. I do not recommend this bank at all.
They don’t explain everything to you when signing up and when you call to talk to someone they’re not very helpful. Do yourself a favor and find a different bank!

Who ever the man is that answered (12÷6÷14 9:31 AM). Gave me a totally different answer than anyone else has before. I always get paid two days after my bills are due, I do the banking app deposit and have called to get credit (if not all, at least enough for my bills… Also, keep in mind I’m an 18 year old that’s on her own, paying for absolutely everything). They usually do this for me, but I don’t know what this guys problem is. Thanks dude.

this branch is the best .I received the best, fast service when someone stole my check and used it… Kristy was great in taking care all paper works that required to open new account and did a smooth balance transferring to new account in an accurate timely manner. she also ensured to follow up all outstanding issues and update me with results… I really like Kristie. being a disable person, to have a person as Kristie to help is a A+++ service. I will recommend this bank to my friends.

I hate to say this but my UBOC days have come to an end. After an infuriating experience with their claims dept I’m done. The people at the local offices are great but it appears that their corporate end doesn’t really care to lookout for their customers.

I never knew what it would be like to switch banks and now I am so happy I did! I had been with another large bank for years and I really was not getting any personal service so I switched to Union Bank and having a personal banker! I was privileged enough to work with Kristie Gibson who is so professional and nice! She makes me feel like I am with a small local bank! She is simply amazing I am so happy to be working with them!

Even with the scary new security door, this place is as friendly as can be. I opened my first «big girl» account here in 1993 and now my husband and I bank at UB together. I love Vanessa V. because she’s quick to answer my questions and she is very helpful with CDs, money market, and other special advice.
