This place is awesome! Their thai tea is delicious and gets your juices flowing. They have great flavor selection for their frozen yogurt and they keep it nice and clean. You are happily greeted as soon as you walk in the door. I have never seen a frozen yogurt place so clean. Keep doing a great job! I definitely appreciate you! 2 thumbs up from 2 fluffy foodies.

Been coming here for many years now and never got the chance to write them the awesome review they deserved! The yogurt is always so good, and they offer a lot of flavors. There’s always a new flavor every time I come in :) for the toppings, I especially love their cheesecake cubes and fresh fruits.
But tonight I went in just for my usual, and the gentleman gave me a chamango on the house! I’m guessing it’s one of their new drinks they’re serving. But oh my gosh, it was soo good! There’s little mango chunks in the drink too. It was very slushy like but I loved it. Defiantly will get it again next time!

Amazing flavored frozen yogurt and exceptional customer service. This week we enjoyed the pineapple, crème brûlée and chocolate; each was perfect!

The wife and I tried it for the first time. Great flavors, great atmosphere and very friendly family owned business. There were tons of customers coming through while we were there. Seating inside and out. They also have menu items beyond yogurt. The wife is going to try the crepes next visit. All in all our new favorite yogurt shop.

You can never have too many frozen yogurt places, with more and more opening up in San Diego, the self-​serve yogurt scene is bigger than ever. Penguin doesn’t do JUST yogurt, it serves all kinds of great items like coffee, teas, shaved ice, crepes, smoothies and even italian sodas (
). This place is like a jack of all trades dessert place, you can literally find anything to make your sweet tooth happy. They also have a pretty good variety of yogurt flavors including great base flavors like peanut butter, vanilla, chocolate etc. Not to forget mentioning their great selection of toppings (

The frozen yogurt here is quite delicious and some of the best I’ve encountered so far in the San Diego yogurt war. The yogurt has a wonderful creamy texture without an over abundance of sweetness. They have most of their nutritional information listed inside. I can see myself coming back to place more often than others. With plenty of ample seating and parking, this place is a definite winner for frozen yogurt.

Great froyo! All the fruits and toppings are fresh. They also offer non-​dairy alternatives. Prices are reasonable. Flavors are switched up every so often so it’s nice to have different choices each time.
They have a punch card to earn a free yogurt. Nice and friendly staff.

Crème brûlée frozen yogurt. Seriously scrumptious! I could end my review right here! Plus, there’s a Starbuck’s in the Vons grocery store right next door, so if you have kids in the car in Santee, and you need to 1-​stop shop, Penguin is for you!
My granddaughter keeps asking for Penguin when I take her to Rita’s Italian Ice in Santee, so I’m giving in. We’re loyal Penguins now! There are plenty of non-​fat flavors with live active yogurt cultures at Penguin. We both also like the less-​sweet flavors such as the tart mango which they had on our recent visit.
Ask for a few sample cups and choose your favorite flavors. It’s self-​serve, with fair prices and plenty of parking. They keep the place clean. I’ve always had friendly service on all of our visits over the past 2 years. Finally time to post a review!

My goto Yogurt place. Love it, love it, love it. especially after hitting up Boll Weevil’s next door, this is a nice little place for dessert. so check it out
Yogurt is good, its not going to knock your socks off, but its awesome in the sense of how many different, really, off the wall flavors. I think *THIS* is why some people have posted complaints about the yogurt (odd taste/​dry/​weird). Anyhow, go for the normal stuff (vanilla/​chocolate) and use the great toppings bar to dress it up. As far as frozen yogurt and toppings, this place hits a nice homerun… but check out the other stuff!
Hawaiian Ice! yes! Get the Rainbow, you’ll only need a mini, the large is HUGE, i’m talking Titanic crushing ice berg sized, so just go with the rainbow! wife likes the mango one, but seriously, go Rainbow. I think it should be illegal, its addictive, potent. oh man.
Try the crepes! We had a strawberry one and o m g. good stuf.now it does take upwards of 15mins to prep, but you know its so worth it… good stuff.
Otherwise, this is a nice place to just hang out and slurp, suck and enjoy! ah you tell me what other businesses get you to do that!!!

Worst quality yogurt I’ve ever tasted and I’ve probably been around the froyo block a few times. It’s disgustingly overpriced. I had peanut butter cup topping on my yogurt. It was that gross generic waxy peanut butter cup that would be rejected even by the dollar store. We live 5 minutes from this shop, the yogurt was melted when we arrived. Not just kinda melted. Full on soupy melted. We paid $ 17 for two cups of melted generic yogurt. We didn’t eat it. It went to the garbage.
My husband called to express our dissatisfaction. We were told the manager would call us back. It took nearly a week of us calling daily for someone to call us back. They offered a $ 17 credit if we would return within a week. We were out of town and they were unwilling to extend that offer until we returned from vacation.
I’m glad other people had good experiences with this business. I just wish I had a good experience here too.

Really cute little yogurt shop. After dinner, one of my friends decided this would be a good place to go.
We walked in and the shop is clean, and they have the tasters if you want to sample a few flavors first. After looking, I noticed they had Dole Whip (just like Disneyland!) and Salted Caramel Popcorn (yes please). I carefully filled up my cup and paid. At 41 cents an ounce, it’s a pretty good deal. They have a plethora of toppings, so you won’t be disappointed (brownies, Oreo crumble, candy, you name it).
The cashier was quick and courteous which allowed me to enjoy my treat with minimal melting. The Dole Whip tasted just like fresh pineapples and was light and airy like it should be. The Salted Caramel Popcorn was just amazing. Sweet, salty, and tasty all rolled into one. There is seating outside as well, so that’s nice too.
For a nice family yogurt shop, with friendly service and good flavors, this is the place.

Unilocal, you steered me wrong on this one.
I was up in Santee for the afternoon and decided that froyo sounded good before the drive home. This place was close by and had great Unilocal reviews, so why not?
So very wrong. Bad choice
My frozen yogurt had an odd taste to it. It tasted like the machine had remnants of an old flavor in it. It was edible but not what I wanted or paid money for. I threw it in the trash and went to the Wendy’s in the same shopping center for a frosty instead.
The service was okay and the place was clean but the flavors were off. If I’m in the area again I won’t be back.

I dunno penguin– your fro-​yo is super creamy delicious but your smoothies need real fruit, not just that bitter nasty from a cardboard carton stuff.

Oh. My. God.
I didn’t know this place was here. I swear, I didn’t know. I didn’t know that cheat day could be so divine. I didn’t know that I could get a Hawaiian Shaved Ice with pineapple dole whip inside, strawberry and mango syrups with strawberries & mangoes and condensed milk. I swear, nobody told me.
My life was empty. It was empty and sad and lonely before I knew, but now I do.
Let’s get married shaved ice, whaddya say?

Yuck. I have had the frozen yogurt here in the past, and it was good.
I went today and tried a strawberry banana smoothie. It was the most disgusting thing ever. Artificial flavors with not a hint of a strawberry or banana anywhere. It has still left a terrible taste in my mouth. Will not be getting a smoothie here again.

This is a very cool place with a variety if frozen yogurts and toppings. (

At .41 per oz, I choose my corner stone, some vanilla and chocolate with a few sliced almonds. (
) Altogether it cost my a couple of dollars and some change. Both the chocolate and vanilla were very good. The chocolate was did not have that tart after tasted and frankly I could not tell it was frozen yogurt.
They carry a variety of topping from your basis peanuts to lychees. The two employes who were here when I arrived, were both in good moods and working diligently.
