AFC Doctors Express Urgent Care

I was a walk-​in yesterday after work and it was quick and easy. The nurse was very nice and personable. I had a throat culture, was examined, and my prescription sent to my pharmacy with no problem. I was in and out in about thirty minutes. Doctor even noticed a cyst on my right tonsil that my regular doctor will gave to look at and send me for testing. I wish my pcp was this great. Will return for future needs.

This is hard to write because maybe it’s my fault for going to urgent care. This is my second time here. First time a few weeks ago I had an abscess and the nurse practitioner I saw was great, helpful, I took my antibiotics and it’s gone. Hooray! I called to ask a follow up question and they helped me and even called me back to check on me. Great, right?!
I went today because my daughter and I are sick. Different doctor. Didn’t seem very knowledgeable. I mean, why was she asking me what certain diseases are? Strange. After handling our illnesses, I asked her to check on my abscess, she glanced at it, said, it looks fine and opened the door to leave. I had another question. She said ‘Sorry, but I only have time for one question per patient’.
Um, I get goals and income and all that but I’m paying you so…

We got here like 11:20 and we are still waiting
Came here before and my sickness did not get any better but getting worst
Throw up so many time, head hurts and neck hurts and for some reasons they just keep skipping patient and I don’t know what they are doing but really irritated
I feel so terrible and I guess they are just so unorganized

The slowest place Ever. I got Here at 12Pm and I asked what’s the wait and she said 2 hrs and After 3 hours they take me in and I told the Doctor I have something to do so I can’t be late and she said okay and she goes on her lunch break while making me wait Even longer? I’ve been here for almost 5 hours and I’m still waiting. All the Employees and Doctors Lie.

Urgent care is a category of walk-​in clinic focused on the delivery of ambulatory care in a dedicated medical facility outside of a traditional emergency room. Urgent care centers primarily treat injuries or illnesses requiring immediate care, but not serious enough to require an ER visit.
Not even close, I had to wait even longer cause she did not even make me fill out a chart… Well that’s wonderful…
STAY AWAY from this place, 2 hrs, they forgot about me, and off course they charge first so they do what ever the fuck they want…

I went in because I had been exposed to Mono. The dr came in and told me even if I had, it wouldn’t matter because it’s a virus. I was there less than 5 mins with no answers, no testing, and no paperwork. The dr asked if I played rugby or any contact sports and that’s the only reason mono would be a concern. They are now trying to bill me with a diagnosis (pharyngitis) that I was never given, and saying they evaluated me (not true) and I was discharged with paper (not true either). They also said they would fax paper work to my primary and never did. This place is a joke and all they do is try to take your money.

I have been here multiple times and I am not impressed. The staff is rude, triage nurse is short and cuts you off while you are talking, even though you are explaining the symptoms that she literally just asked you for. One of the triage nurses tried getting blood pressure from my three year old and it wasn’t working because he was moving too much and actually got frustrated. I’m sorry, but if you can’t deal with a child, maybe you shouldn’t be a nurse.
While waiting for the doctor to come into our room, my three year old son (who is in the middle of potty training) decided he had to go «potty» right as the doctor came in. The doctor actually was mad that I had to leave the room and change him. I explained to the doctor that normally he makes it to the bathroom, but his belly was hurting so he had an accident in his pull up. The doctor rolled his eyes and left the room. He told me he would come back later.
After I was done changing my son we went back into the room and waited another 30 min. Once the doctor came in he started bitching about how he has seen my son four times. I told him that he probably saw him two times, not four and if my son is sick or in pain and its a week end I take him in right away because I don’t want him to suffer. He literally rolled his eyes and sighed at me. I guess he finds it ridiculous that I prefer to take care of my son. Why should he be complaining in the first place? Isnt this his job? No one is forcing him to be there, if he hates his job so much maybe he should quit.
Anyways, he listened to my sons symptoms while trying to make me feel like a piece of crap parent for believing my son when he told me his ear hurts. He literally talked to me like I was stupid and wasting his time. This guy was pretty much an asshole.

I ended up going to urgent care a week or so ago and this urgent care was outstanding! great front desk customer service, quick times, clean atmosphere, and great care from the doctor. When you aren’t feeling well you really need your doctor experience to be seemless. Thanks so much!!!

I’ve been here two different times, everyone was friendly and professional. I was given the proper treatment each time. I was lucky enough to be greeted by one of their staff «Priscilla» very helpful, attentive and really went out of her way to make me comfortable knowing the waiting room was packed. Greatly appreciative of this place and will definitely return when needed.

Staff was friendly enough, but I definitely would never go here again. The visit itself seemed rushed and somehow «extra» symptoms (THAT I WASN’T EVEN EXPERIENCING) got added onto my chart while others were missing. Hiked up charges at discharge. If it weren’t for the friendliness of the staff this place would’ve gotten a 0 star rating from me. Go to partners urgent care in La Mesa. They might have a longer waiting time, but it’s worth it.

I’ve been to this clinic a couple of times in the past and been very pleased. Yesterday morning though I went with a severe cough and the doctor said she was calling in a prescription for a strong nighttime cough remedy. I went to the pharmacy last evening and it wasn’t there. I called the clinic but again they didn’t call in the prescription. When I called today I was told my prescription «fell between the cracks» because «the doctor was very busy.» That’s not acceptable, and doesn’t make up for having an absolutely miserable night.
Next day: after my review I received a very courteous response and apology, so I’ve raised my review.

The only reason I’m giving this two stars is because the doctor was sweet and gave me important information of my condition I went in today and this had to be the longest I’ve ever waited 3 hours to be seen they should really consider adding another doctor to this place so they could cut the wait time

Ok yeah I except to wait at an urgent care/​ED but not when there’s one person ahead of you and the people behind the desk have no idea what they are doing and with only 1 doctor. The doctor even came out and scolded the employee for making a lady wait for her discharge papers when they have been there for 30 mins! Come on!

We came in as our daughter was just miserable. Brittany up front was just so amazing calming her down and making her smile. Chris took her vitals and his approach was so professional and he made her so comfortable. On our way out Pricilla ensured the smiles were still going. She explained the check out process. All three of them were exceptional! Top service. Yes. Dr was a 10 too.

I injured my left eye. I was told about doctors express in santee ca by one of my coworkers. I was hurting and in extreme pain. I was seen by Dr Jennifer Doumas. This lady is a great dr. She knew immediately what I had done which was I had a deep scratch on my left eye. She gave me meds, and sent me back with a Dr note and wouldn’t let me go back to work. I saw her a total of 3 times because I had follow up visits plus a personal phone call from her also. My feelings about this dr. She cares about her patients. I couldn’t even get in to see my primary dr because he was booked for the day. But I’m glad there is urgent care. My Co pay was the same and I got to see a real dr. And saved 250 because that’s my Co pay for er. So if your sick go see dr Jennifer Doumas. She will make you better. She is a first rate dr.

Horrible. I went in today with a horrible cough and in a lot of pain. I got there 15 minutes before the place opened and still ended up waiting 40 minutes. You can tell that no one has any clue what’s going on and they definitely do not communicate with one another until there’s an issue. The nurse, she was nice enough, but it was literally like her first day on earth. She skipped several steps in the triage intake part of my appointment. When she asked how much I weigh I responded with aren’t you going to weigh me? There was literally a scale in the room. She replied with a snooty answer and when I told her I was pregnant and my weight varies she shut up and I stepped on the scale.
The «Medical Director» is a moron. I’m guessing this is why she’s not an MD and works here. She hardly listened to my symptoms and then just gave me a Tylenol and basically said feel better.
And neither the medical director nurse could properly take my pulse. The nurse tried once, the medical director and nurse tried together, and the nurse tried again. No success. After the medical director left the room and went into see another patient they just discharged me.
A waste of my time and a waste of a copay. Go somewhere else if you want actual medical attention.

I would do negative ten stars if possible. I will write my review in full this weekend! Save yourself and go elsewhere.
Ok, here is my review in full:
12 noon: My sons go to Doctor’s Express to get sports physical for high school water polo. I have four kids, 15, 17, 19, 21. They have been here both with and without me to receive sports physicals over the years. When my boys arrive, the secretary says, «Your parent must be present for you to receive a physical.» My sons text me that the policy changed and I have to come with them. I say, «Ok, we will go tomorrow.» They say, «It’s open until 8 p.m., can we go tonight.» I say, «Yes, I’ll be home at 4, we can go and get it done.»
4:38 p.m.: We arrive at Doctor’s Express. Secretary takes our six papers (3 papers per son) and checks us in. I ask approx how long it will be, she says 30 minutes, I say great. A couple of times, beginning around 5:30, I ask how much longer it will be. «Soon,» they say.
5:40 p.m. ish: Extremely nice nurse takes us back, does vitals on the boys (10 minutes), takes us to room to wait for doctor. She deserves a raise.
5:45: Man walks into room, introduces himself as a PA. We are excited to finally get it done. He then laughs and says, «Oh, so they told you what’s going on, right?» I said, «No, not sure what you mean.» He says, «Oh, they should have told you out there.» I said, again, «Not sure what you mean.» He says,“Well, your kids’ high school requires a doctor to do the physical. I’m a P.A.” He goes into a mini-​dissertation about the difference between a P.A., an MD, and a D.O. (Don’t need this lecture… doctors, including D.O.s and P.A.s, in my family, mom of four kids – I’m officially dialed in already).
I said, «Why didn’t the secretary tell us this when we checked in an hour and 15 minutes ago?» He says, «I don’t know.» I said, «Ok, well, it’s not ok with me that my boys came here earlier today, wasted an hour, then we came back again, and are wasting another two hours with drive time, and no one seems to know the policies or what it takes to accomplish a physical, yet the secretary was happy to take my money when I checked in.»
He says, «Well, yeah, you could have done the physical earlier. A parent actually doesn’t have to be present. We just got an email today about that. This is because of the school district»
I say, «Ok, well, again, that’s fine, but it’s not ok that we waited almost an hour and a half right now and no one said there has to be an M.D. present. Or someone could have said, „Come back by 3 p.m.,“ or whatever time, so that an M.D. would be present. I would think that you might care about the overall level of care and customer service being offered by a company you’re associated with.» He says,“Not my company, I’ve only been in this room five minutes.“
I say, «Also, she said it would be about 30 minutes, and we waited an hour just to see the nurse.» He says, «Oh, (hahaha), that’s because I’m the fastest doctor here. So, she probably thought it’d be a half hour.» (Actually, you are not a doctor, which is why you cannot do the physical today.)
At this point, I know, he’s a drone. And, to top it off, a full-​of-​himself drone.
We walk out to secretary (not the same one as earlier, she has gone home.) I ask for a refund, Jo processes but says she can’t give me a receipt for the refund, just a piece of paper that says, «VOID» on it. Whatever that means. She DOES NOT say sorry. Completely unconcerned. This is their normal.
NOT ONE person said:
«Sorry» «Sorry for the inconvenience.» «I’m sorry this happened today.» «I’m so sorry for the mix-​ups today. We are in transition. I’m sorry this happened to you.» «I’m sorry this happened. I hope you will come back tomorrow for a free physical so we can show you the level of care we like to provide.» etc.
I go home and later on go on Unilocal to post a one-​star, saying I will write up the whole review in a few days when I have time. Owner messages me asking me to call him on his personal cell. I say I will, and I do, the next day. Talk to owner, tell him what I just told you. He says he is surprised and disappointed. He says that the doctor (an MD) had actually signed the forms earlier in the day so the PA actually COULD HAVE done the physical. BUT, no one noticed that. Not the secretary. Not the PA. No one. Says he would have offered us free physicals to make up for the inconvenience. I’d like to point out that he offered that, but his staff didn’t – meaning it is not part of their policy. At all.
The PA could have walked in the room apologizing – instead of displacing. He took no responsibility on behalf of his company’s mistakes. This was a huge disappointment and complete waste of 4+ hours. Clearly they don’t respect the time or after-​tax dollars of their patients. Let alone the CHILDREN their customers are entrusting to them.
They ended up doing them here, a few miles away:
$ 25 per child instead of $ 50 per child! Enough said.

Was seen by Jennifer Doumas, the Medical Director (I don’t see a PhD after her name so I’m not sure if I still call her Dr). She was amazing! Very kind and polite. I did a quick walk-​in physical for an overseas medical screening. Highly recommended!

I waited outside for 15 minutes before this location opened. I walked in with two other people. We were given the checklist and all of us turned it in with 5 minutes. It is now 8:20 and none of us have been called. The receptionist talked on the phone with someone about 8:15 and said she had to «get her head on.» This is ridiculous. Someone should have been seen by now. Do the doctors not come in by 8? I would go somewhere else if you have the option. This is a joke. The waiting room is full and the receptionist is chatting away on the phone. Get to work!

My son, under two at the time, was vomiting and had a fever. They stated that they took our insurance, no problem. The PA tried to take my one year old son’s blood pressure with a cuff, asked if he had trouble talking or performing tasks. He’s a toddler, seriously? However the doctor we saw was very friendly and helpful.
Six weeks later we get a huge bill because it turns out that they DO NOT take our insurance. Overall a poor experience.
