Chumash Casino

Disgusting. Don’t even bother. I’m used to Blackhawk or Vegas so maybe I was a bit spoiled but coming to this casino was a nightmare. We stopped here on our road trip from LA to SF and it was terrible. Not only do the machines literally steal all your money, you’re going to leave with a migraine from the thick smoke in there. Even the non smoking area isn’t non smoking considering they leave the doors open lol? Secondly, and this is to no offense, but the entire place is like a retirement home and a bunch of special Ed people were there. I can’t tell you how many walkers were scattered all over the floor and how I couldn’t even use the restroom because someone was having a breakdown in the special department. I’m not a mean person but this casino is too hyped for its own good. Stay away!

The place is way too small and slots are packed so tightly together there is little room to walk around the rude people. Oh my goodness The people there! ghetto and as dirty as the come! Safe to say we won’t be back! Glad we broke even and got out of there!

Drove here from Orange County on 2÷18÷16. What an absolutely waste of time, energy and money. This is the WORST Indian Casino I have ever visited! The player’s club (Club Indulge) only gave us $ 5 free play (but yet if we were from L.A. County we would have received $ 100). The place is a construction mess, it was very crowded for a Thursday night, and I’d venture to say only 1,000 slot machines are available (most VERY old). The place is laid out very badly. The one restroom I could find was just a few feet away from several rows of slots, and I had to wind thru chairs to get there, only to wait in line for a 7-​stall room (I think – I didn’t actually count).
I never saw any restaurants, just a few vending machines. They might be there, but play was so awful, we left after approx. 2 hours.
NEVER will I visit here again, and I’ve already shredded by Club Indulge Card. This is a big thumbs down.

My husband and I came up a year ago. At that time it was small and intimate which we loved. Now it is more like a zoo with too many people. We really loved the place, but time to find a new casino.

I hate to do this, but I have to give this place one star for one major reason… SMOKE! Seriously, the cigarette smoke in here is terrible… The ventilation does not feel anywhere close to adequate, and people light up while sitting next to you with no regard for your air.
Yes, there is a non-​smoking section… It’s small and inadequate. The 80 – 90 percent of the population that DON’T smoke should not have to put up with the dirty smoke of 10 – 15 percent of the population. And if smoking is allowed, the air must be properly ventilated so that other people aren’t forced to put up with it. The ventilation here is nothing like what you would expect in a Vegas Casio or even other Indian casinos.

The New Creekside Buffet is Awesome! Great service and food selection. Casino staff makes you feel welcome.

Our hotel (Hotel Corque) offered free hourly shuttles to and from the casino so we decided to go. The concierge let us know that the casino is currently undergoing renovations and that some of the casino is closed off and the non smoking section had been moved. We didnt let that deter us we had nothing to loose. As soon as we got to the casino we asked one of the friendly security guards to direct us to where the nonsmoking section was instead he escorted us to the nonsmoking section! We played a the machines and ended up having a really good time. We all made a couple bucks. Overall I would like to come back when the renovation is complete.

i don’t understand the bad reviews. I’ve been here about 5 times and had amazing experiences all the times. some employees do need to work on their attitude, but overall easy parking, fun games not crazy smoke like others I’ve been to. slot machines always available.

If you are looking for a blackjack game with great rules and odds for the player, come to Chumash. All of Chumash’s blackjack games pay 3 – 2 on BJ and the shoes consist of only six decks. You are not going to find that at most Indian-​reservation casinos, much less Vegas casinos. Chumash doesn’t have those ridiculous CSM machines (continuous-​shuffle machine) at all. The dealers are friendly here too and the servers do a great job making multiple rounds serving complimentary non-​alcoholic drinks to patrons.
Unfortunately the air ventilation system at Chumash is terrible. The smoke congestion is heavy, so all you smell on the main gambling floor is smoke. There are a limited number of eateries on the premises too. The remodeled buffet is expensive and mediocre so I usually buy something cheap from the Café. Cellular service is lacking in many parts of the casino too. Apparently they now do have Wi-​Fi for guests though.
Chumash is now 21+ for everyone. You can order a beer while you gamble, kids can’t even enter the buffet! Barona is still my favorite Indian casino resort, but Chumash still serves its purpose of being a gambler-​friendly casino.

Since I am from San Jose the place is decent enough where you get your fix of blackjack without waiting for a table. There are always spots for slots what more can you ask for. They are renovating and if it brings more people it will not be my cup of tea cause it will be too crowded.

Chumash is what it is. There isn’t a whole lot else to do in the area at night, and it’s a fine way to pass the time. Like many casinos, you can smoke inside, which I really dislike, but they do have a non smoking room here with slots and poker. There’s tons of free parking. Join the players club and you get $ 50 in free slots (which doesn’t last very long). No dice games, which means no craps. Also, they don’t serve free alcohol while playing — if you want to drink, you have to go to the «bar». Obviously not one of my favorite casinos, but you don’t have much choice in this area.

Some of this casinos problems are from it’s clientele and some are from the casino. But I will definitely not be going back here any time soon.
I’ve been to a lot of Casinos and this is hands down the filthiest casino I’ve ever seen. The floors were absolutely littered with garbage. Every slot machine I sat down at had garbage in between the machines. The people there were acting like filthy animals just leaving their trash everywhere and there appeared to be barely any employees to clean it up.
The second big problem was so many people everywhere and no where for them to go. The space between the card tables and the slots was almost non existent. I saw this one guy pushing people out of his way like some kind of aggravated child. It was nuts and I felt like I witnessed a break down of humanity.
There was a lot of people here so they’re not hurting for business but most of them were absolute scum bags, probably mostly from Lompoc. If you’re passing through check this place out to understand what I’m talking about. You will not want to stay.

My wife loves to play slots. But I don’t gamble. So, in most casinos, all I need to do is go to a food court, or lounge, watch sports, relax and wait for her. NOT AT CHUMASH! Not only do you have to trek a long way thru nasty construction zones, but when a non-​gaming spouse arrives this is what awaits:
1. No lounge
2. No food court
3. No seats other than at the slots where you constantly have to keep moving.
4. Blocked Internet
5. Blocked phone service
It is crowded and has a very pushy environment. And the Slots have a TERRIBLE PAYOUT.

I am not a fan of Indian Casinos at all. The reason I came here was to take a 20 years old friend that wanted to experience gambling and casino and this happened to be the only Casino that allows over 18 years old to gamble. I am more in favor of Las Vegas since it offers more as far as entertainment, night life, gambling etc… Indian Casinos are more for people that are strictly gamblers.
The Chumash is under major renovation inside and outside. The buffet was closed for renovation and the gambling area seems to shrunk down as well while they remodel. So if you are a fan of this place I suggest you wait until renovation is all completed.
We had lunch at the only Café they had open. I was really impressed with the food and service.

We had good experience here. The food was delicious as well as the service.
=The Ranch burger=== ½ pound of fresh ground meat cooked md rare topped with crispy bacon, American Cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and grilled onions. Came with a side of potato salad. This was amazingly delicious and cooked to perfection. Loved it… HUGE.
=Bean Chili= This was delicious as well. Spicy, beans and beef topped with onions and Cheese.
The service was great as well. 5 Stars… With my amnesia I really forgot the name of the nice lady that was serving us, go girl, goooooooooo.

I suppose I ought to qualify this review by stating that I’m not big on casinos. My parents — specifically my mother — LOVES casino trips so on a recent visit home I ended up tagging along on my parents’ trip to Chumash.
The biggest issue with this casino is that it’s currently under construction. I don’t know if they’re just updating or expanding but half the place is closed off or behind curtains to hide the scaffolding. While there is ample free coffee and a coffee stand for specialty drinks (order at your own risk! I ordered a hazelnut iced coffee and came away with what tasted like melted whipped cream on ice), there is no actual bar. I don’t know if there just wasn’t room for a bar or if there was a liquor licensing issue so they’re just forgoing it for now but for someone like me — a non smoker tagging along to spend time with and appease my chimney — like parents — not having a bar is superbly disappointing.
I’m hopeful that once the dust clears they will remedy this situation.
Otherwise it’s incredibly clean and definitely Vegas inspired. Lots of machines and tables. Plus they have a club card which earns you points and free money to play with at the casino.
Also there is free wifi and a very comfortable resort lobby with ample sitting room and lots of free outlets to charge your device (s).

Some positives:
There is a non-​smoking room.
The entrance (waterfall «ice» sculpture and neon blue-​lit staircase).
Guy in the parking garage offered us a ride to the elevator.
But… no alcohol? Wha — -?
It’s hard for us to get around that fact,
and we won’t be returning for that very reason.
Well, that, and because we bring our own blankets to our hotel,
and that might look bad)

I’ve only been here at night so, I don’t get to see the scenic drive along the coast, but I’m sure it’s a beautiful drive during the day. I think I would be here more often, but thankfully the winding roads leading up to the casino deters me from wanting to come here. If you get car sick, then I would suggest taking the 101 towards Buelton to avoid the winding road, but it will add 30 – 40 minutes to your drive. This casino is located in Santa Ynez aka wine country and it’s near Solvang, so the area is really beautiful.
If you’re a new member, then you can sign up for a players card for free. They give you $ 50 of free play (it only applies to LA/​Ventura county residents). This casino does not serve alcohol, they only serve non-​alcohlic beverages. Although, they do have a bar, but you can’t drink alcohol while playing games and pretend you’re in Vegas. Lame!
They have a plethora of slot machines, a few card tables. They have some hardcore slot machine players. I’ve seen people tapping and rubbing the machines. I guess it’s for good luck or something. This is a smoking casino, so your lungs are going to take a beating. The ventilation is terrible here. They do have a non-​smoking area, but the games are pretty uneventful.
Anyway, the food here sucks. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. The gelato at the café is decent, but take my word and just eat prior from coming here.
The restrooms are clean and well kept and also parking is free in the parking structure.
I’ve been lucky here a couple times, so I suppose I’ll be back.

The drive to this casino coming from Los Angeles is beautiful and speechless. I love the view of the beach and nice looking mountains. If your crazy about nature like myself you’ll enjoy the 2 hour ride.
There is two ways getting here, if you get car sick your better off taking the long way on the 101 freeway. The 154 highway road (state street exit on the 101 north) has lots of curves and it’s all up hill.
The overall experience for free $ 50 (LA county residents only) is pretty good. I don’t like how they advertise on tv that they give you $ 100. It’s $ 50 the first time you go and the other $ 50 in a week. Which expires one month later if you don’t use it.
The location is pretty cute and small. The restrooms are kept super clean and nice. The employees all seem to be really nice and caring. Overall, great experience and fun times with my family.
Not a 5 star location — they really need cell phone towers and/​or free WI-​FI!!! :(

This location is just out of Santa Barbara and next to Lake Cachuma. The drive itself was very nice and relaxing, just to see the ocean. The water relaxes you. Its not as big as the casinos in Vegas, however big paid –out and a lot of winners during my visit. This casino does not serve alcohol while your playing the games. They serve non alcohol beverages. There is a bar tho. There’s more slot machines than cards games.
If your not a member you can enroll and get a $ 50 credit to your players card for free. Yes its free. Many winners. A lot of TV’S throughout the casino to watch the sporting games. There are about 3 different restaurants throughout the casino, I is a Buffet.$ 18.95 from 11−4pm. Looked great.
The only down fall is that its a Smoking Casino, and if your a non-​smoker you may not like it. They smoke everywhere. They don’t smoke in the Restaurants tho. Thats why we went out to eat. Needed some air. As some of the others reviews, yes I would say its a smoke pit
As you enter the Casino, there’s a Hostess who does greet you, right off the bat. A plus.
