Meet the Business Owner

Jim R.

Business Owner

B.A. English Literature, The Colorado College, 1989; Post Baccalaureate Studies, Baylor University, 1992; Texas and Colorado Teaching Credentials. Jim has been with Sylvan since 1992. He began working as a part-​time instructional aide while obtaining his teaching credential. After teaching in the public school system in Texas and Colorado, he became Director of Education for the Sylvan in Waco, Texas. This Sylvan won the corporation’s Educational Excellence Award in 1995. He was also selected as Director of the Year for this multi-​center group. He then served as Regional Director of Education and Operations, managing training and educational quality, for six Sylvan Learning Centers. Jim worked for Sylvan Learning Systems, Inc. as a Training Manager for Sylvan University for two years. During this time he trained over 500 Center Directors and Directors of Education from across the country in Sylvan education and operations. He joined Laura and the Santa Rosa staff in 1999.
