Rock Paper Scissors is a boutique salon that specializes in cut and coloring. Our services range anywhere from natural hair to fashion forward celebrity styles. We also provide bridal hair and makeup services, facial waxing, and Keratin Smoothing Treatments.

As a client of Rock Paper Scissors you will receive the respect and consideration you deserve.

We believe that the practice of hair styling starts with an artistic eye for color and form, the mastery of technical skills, and an aptitude for style and function.

Business Owner

On January 1, 2012 I opened Rock Paper Scissors Salon. We are a new boutique salon offering services for those having wine country weddings, formal events, or just seeking a fresh cut and color. At RPS we believe our boutique setting offers a more personal, intimate, and friendly environment for our clients.

Beginning with the consultation, I will help you determine what style would not only suit your needs and but make you look bright and vibrant. Meanwhile, you can enjoy a beverage and relax in our spa-​like atmosphere.

Although I was born and raised in Sacramento, I moved to Santa Rosa after I attended CSU Chico where I graduated with a BS in Business.

Yet since I could remember I have been creative and fashion forward and wanted a career that would coincide with my enjoyment of working with people. I decided being a hair stylist fit those categories.

Thanks to all of the lovely reviews I chose to go to Rock Paper Scissors Salon when I moved to the area. I am so happy I did — RPSS has a wonderful atmosphere and is filled with talented, friendly professionals. Stephanie is my stylist — she listens, asks questions and performs amazing work. I cannot imagine going anywhere else.

Krystal has cut my hair the last two times. Best haircuts I’ve had in years. They are pricier than going to other salons, but totally worth it. Don’t pay less and get a lousy haircut. Go to the best and be happy! I have very fine «cat fur» like hair and Krystal knew just exactly what to do with it.

I am still fairly new to town and had not found a good stylist yet, was just getting $ 20 cuts at the mall to save money.
But then my 30th bday was coming up. And I needed a good cut and style.
I got the urge to book the appointment on a Sunday night and wanted to get in on Monday. This salon had great reviews on Unilocal and they had online booking. Sold! Booked my appointment for Monday at 1pm with Janette.
Showed up not sure what to expect or if I’d even get a cut because I figured the online booking thing may have been too short notice for the stylist but I walked in to a super cute salon and Janette was waiting for me. (Awesome.)
Now on to Janette’s skillz. I came in with mid-​length, dull cut hair that was dyed blue mostly on the front ends. Not a cute look for a soon to be 30 yr old in my opinion. I asked for a layered angled Bob and showed pics. She got to work.
The final result was fantastic! Super cute cut, just what I asked for. Janette was really nice and understood the panic I felt when I saw all the length fall to the floor.
After getting some products and working with my hair for a few days, I learned how to style it myself too and now I absolutely love it.

Stephanie is an extremely talented stylist and colorist. She listens to exactly what you want and delivers beautifully! I highly recommend her. The shop is convenient, darling and friendly. The atmosphere eminates throughout due to the owner Katie. I can’t say enough good things… run/​call for all your hair needs… I know I will!

I hired Katie for my wedding day and was so thrilled with the result! She was a delight to work with, from start to finish. My bridesmaids and I had a blast with her before the wedding (we even convinced her to join the celebration with a few sips of mimosa!). She remained flexible with my vision to have a flower in my hair up until the last minute when it was delivered from the florist (and it worked great!). I cannot recommend her enough!

Just went and got my daughters haircut. She wanted a pixie cut. I was hesitant about going someplace unknown, but all the Unilocal reviews were great, so we went. I never put much thought into the importance of hair and makeup for a wedding until I had my own. My hair and makeup was done by my photographer, but I wanted to do something special for my bridesmaids and my mother so they felt pampered and relaxed on the day of the wedding. Not only did the Rock Paper Scissors team make the day more relaxing, they made all the ladies look incredible!
Katie is joy to work with. As the day approached I had some changes to schedules, to people needing services and she was very flexible, responsive and incredibly helpful.
We got ready at the guest house of the vineyard where the ceremony and reception was held. There were 6 ladies and myself all getting ready in one bedroom so space was limited and Katie and team made it work. Not only were they efficient but they were flexible, too. All the ladies came with an idea of what they wanted for updos and the RPS team made all the different styles work together. All the makeup looked natural and the hair turned out amazing — and on time! Given the tight timeline we had I was impressed. They even had a couple girls ask for changes after they were done and still had time left before pictures to do touch ups.
Having Katie and team there to make us all look good was amazing and I can’t recommend them more!

How do I even begin to tell you how amazing Katie (the owner) is?! Katie and 2 other stylists came to do hair and makeup for 10 girls at my wedding last weekend (6÷28÷2015). Katie had me come in about a month before the wedding to do a hair and makeup trial and not only is she the sweetest, but so calming and fun! She listened to me completely about what I liked and wanted and even when I gave her feedback about makeup, she wrote it all down and totally delivered the changes on the wedding day! The week before the wedding, Katie emailed me a super organized schedule so I and all my girls knew exactly who was getting what service, from which stylist, and at what time. It was even color-​coded (be still, my OCD heart!). Not only did she go above and beyond to make sure everything was clear and organized, she also without hesitation switched up the schedule to accommodate some timing needs (my MOH and MIL needed later time slots last minute).
When Katie arrived, she took no time to set up and start her magic! I even had a girl not show up for her appointment (I know, who does that!!!) but Katie and her stylists didn’t miss a beat and let my older half-​sister get her hair done instead! The whole team was awesome– funny, sweet, and made everyone look phenomenal! She even made time at the end to do touch-​ups on everyone before we headed out to pictures. THANK YOU Katie and the whole team for dolling us all up and making me feel truly beautiful on my big day!

I called the salon after reading reviews on Unilocal.I am turning 60 in a few weeks and wanted a new look! I did not want to wait for my usual appointment, so I took a chance on the salon and I’m so glad I did. Kassidy Owens was a true professional for the 3 hours she worked on my hair! I went for a new look with blonde tips and dark roots, and a razor cut. Her attention to detail and to my satisfaction was A+. I have gotten lots of compliments on my new look and feel great.

OMG! Stephanie Chase is the
she totally save my Life and the life of my Hair. I should start by saying I recently moved here from Los Angeles and had not been able to find someone to do my hair the way I wanted it… I first went to Halo and walked out with my hair looking the same way as it did when I walked in yet paid $ 200 than went to bungalow and well let’s say I was still less than pleased…
After doing some research I found Stephanie online Unilocal of course! So I decided to give her a chance before booking my fight home to get it don’t by my girl who usually does it. I have to say I was nervous but I met with her for a consultation she looked at it and told me she can try her hardest to get me where I want to be so I said ok! She booked a whole day for me almost 7, hours I was there but the job was accomplished she Turned water into wine. My hair looks and feels amazing even after all the Bleaching. she uses high end quality products, and takes me time give great conversation and makes you feel so comfy! She is by far the best thing to happen to me since moving here.

I booked her from out of town based SOLELY on Unilocal reviews and took a leap of faith… it paid off in spades! Yes, i mean 5 stars! Molly at RPS deserves it! Just moved to the area and the biggest concern was finding a stylist to cut my short, very thick hair. I was leaving a stylist far far away who cut my hair GREAT for 5 years. So i read the reviews on Unilocal and decided on Rock Paper Scissors. Molly did a fabulous job. Looked great when i left, looks great a couple of weeks later. SO HAPPY! And happy with Unilocal!

Can I just say Stephanie Chase is the sh!+
I’m super picky about who does my hair and I’m usually on a pretty busy schedule so I tend to let it go to the point of no return. Stephanie has a great funky fun attitude and never makes fun of my hair no matter how awful it is ;) She listens to what I want and offers her own suggestions. And as far as color goes… I pretty much give her an idea and she runs with it. I have never been disappointed. I give her 10 stars!

I have never written a Unilocal review before but, my wonderful experience at this salon deserved one! I found RPS through the recommendations of a couple friends, and I booked my appointment with Stephanie Chase.
Now I had been growing my hair out for the past 7 years and desperately needed a change. However, I know you can’t trust just anyone with cutting your hair and I’m always a little nervous seeing someone new. But Stephanie blew me away; first of all she is so sweet and friendly, but also she is meticulous with her work. She made sure my hair was exactly the way I wanted it down to the T. She’s even shipping the 18 inches of hair I chopped off to donate. She really cares about her clients and you can tell she enjoys what she does.
The salon is clean, adorable, decorated nicely, not to mention the rates are extremely reasonable. I’ll be going there from now on to get my hair done!

Amazing little gem in SR downtown. Extremely nice professionals & Katie and Krystal do a great cut, color and blow out. The darling salon feels very homey and is spotless. I live in the city but travel here bcuz I love it so much.

Katie did an AMAZING job on my hair and make-​up for my Sonoma wedding. She managed to coordinate the hairstyles of two bridesmaids and my sister-in-law’s hair in addition to my bridal hair and make-​up. She made it look easy! She was so calming to talk to and helped to keep my wedding day jitters at bay. All of our hair stayed beautiful for the 8 hour day, and my make-​up stayed put through teardrops, laughter, dancing, and hugs. She is absolutely wonderful to work with! I booked an appointment after reading all of the fabulous Unilocal reviews and all I can say is, serendipity! Katie came in early on a Saturday morning after the scheduling system messed up and booked me for an appt an hour earlier than the salon opens and was totally awesome and gracious about it. She gave me the best haircut I’ve had in years and I got a fabulous dose of girl talk and laughter to start out my Saturday. I have found my hair home and I absolutely LOVE Katie.
