This is my favorite bakery in the whole world! Best croissants I have ever had and a nice variety of excellent scratch-made danishes, buns, etc. The vegan sweet potato scone is magically sweet potatoey and tender. The peanut butter cookie sandwich is perfectly flavored and textured, and I have extremely high pb cookie standards. Linda is really nice, too. Cons: I wish there was a bigger vegan selection and I thought the apricot chai bread was too crusty and not that yummy.

Holy smokes! This review is just for the bread, which I started buying at Oliver’s a few months ago. Once upon a time, I was happy with Oliver’s fresh daily selection of Costeaux loaves, but a few years ago, Costeaux’s quality took a sudden downward turn and I just stopped buying bread. I’ve always found the other ubiquitous Sonoma County bread bakers to be overrated. Finally, this year, I found a couple new bakers who put even the old Costeaux offerings to shame. I shouldn’t even tell, I have a hard enough time finding my favorite loaf when I do my evening shopping. Red Bird’s oatmeal rye is very good and their specialty Chai with apricots is great. But the Levain. Transcendent. Didn’t know how much I could love bread until I tried this Levain. I can only buy a loaf every other week or so because I tend to eat the whole loaf within 24 hours and my partner gets pissy because he never has any left for his morning toast the day after shopping. Because I don’t really eat the whole thing in 24 hours. I usually finish it the same night I bring it home. I have gotten out of bed at 3AM to finish the loaf because I couldn’t sleep thinking about how good this bread is. So yeah. Ridiculously good bread.

The potato galette is the best on this planet. Nicely priced at $ 6, can be shared with a friend but I won’t share mine. The filling is generous with potato, chorizo sausage and mild cheese. The galette is a great comfort food that makes your tummy so happy with balanced flavor. Great for breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner. Their savory flaky savory croissant $ 3 with many toppings are so delish. I tried their pumpkin with goat cheese filling is just wonderful. I cannot wait to try the spinach filling. The family who owned this bakery are warm, friendly and welcoming. I will definitely patronize this business. Welcome to my neighborhood Red Bird!

Their pastries are delicious– no doubt about that. I just wish there was a bit of a place to sit down at their location. It’s «out there» and if you head all the way there to pick up a breakfast item, it’d be nice to sit and enjoy it there because the reality is– that pastry is NOT going to make it home or wherever you’re going. Do you want to end up with crumbs all over your driver’s seat? No. You don’t. But I digress… their pastries are lovely. Just lovely. Nothing to be improved there– not by a longshot. Bring these bad boys to a business meeting where you want to really impress people– and also to ensure their mouths will be filled with food so you can make your presentation uninterrupted ;)

Outstanding. Favorites: oatmeal cookies, peanut butter sandwich cookies, flatbreads(like small pizzas). Special order phoned in the day before went smoothly and deliciously. So happy to have this level of quality in our town.

My turkey sandwich today was excellent! Chocolate chip cookies are flat and crispy, just the way I like it. Get a baquette everytime I go. Such nice people.

I just went into this wonderful bakery for the first time today. I work down the road and love supporting local businesses! This place has AMAZING goodies! I ordered two pastries that were to die for! Definitely going back and of course spreading the word of this great place!

Pastries are absolutely devine. Picked up an assortment to take to a meeting: almond croissant(buttery, flaky pastry, filled with a generous amount of almond paste), «everything» cookie(delicious flavors meld together in a crunchy, hearty cookie), cinnamon roll/square(yummy), muffins(blueberry and a glazed zucchini — cake-like texture). I’m excited to try their sandwiches… I may have to get a pastry and a sandwich! :)

Red Bird’s pastries are excellent. Too many of them have become my «favorite». Seriously it’s like eating a hug!

Had them cater an office lunch for 20 people. Everyone raved about the sandwiches. They offered us four choices, pesto chicken, ham and cheese, roast beef and a veggie. Bread was baked fresh that morning, and everything was fantastic!

I so wanted to be overwhelmed with satisfaction with my first bite of Red Bird offerings. Heather Irwin from the Bite Club(Santa Rosa Press Democrat) raved about Red Bird. I have now had several of their items and I must say I am underwhelmed. The baguette was a big disappointment, it was almost wet and soggy inside and absolutely no crunch on the outside. I had a bite of my hubby’s almond croissant and was so hoping to have a bite of flaky goodness — but alas, it was not to be. Today I had a savory breakfast croissant with ham and cheese. I did enjoy the filling, but again the croissant had little to no flakiness. Lots of good buttery taste though.(I have read somewhere they use French butter?). Each time we have tried Red Bird it has been at the farmer’s markets. Maybe we need to actually go to their store in Santa Rosa? Not sure, but will continue to give them a try.

Issac is a perfectionist in the best of ways… and it shows in their baked goods. The gal and I swung by today around 11am and enjoyed the following items: Original(butter) croissant. Made from a homemade sourdough starter which showed. Very delicious! Ham and cheese sandwich. Complete with Zoe’s ham, cheese, whole leaves of romaine lettuce, juicy(heirloom?) tomatoes, cucumbers, balsamic aioli and dijon mustard on their baguettes. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. The bread beats the epis over at Bouchon by a landslide! Topped bread round(?). Seven to eight inch round of bread(similar to a ciabatta) topped with house-made ricotta cheese, green and black olives, roasted garlic, and roasted red and yellow bell peppers. Issac mentioned that this is their take on a traditional Italian pizza. Call it what you want, but it was oh-so-good. Filled peanut butter cookie sandwich. Tasty without being too sweet. The peanut butter buttercream inside was decadent. Definitely a good thing to share. Carrot Cake. Firm, moist, and not too sweet. Issac is like me, he preferred birthday pie to birthday cake until his wife Linda showed him how great cake can be. The cream cheese frosting was literally the icing on the cake. Not too sweet and lots of flavorful notes of fresh spices in the cake. We also brought home an almond croissant to enjoy with our coffee. Very tasty for sure. Can’t wait to get back and try more of the baked perfections that Linda, Issac and Christine have in store for us. Open M-F until the early afternoon(2pm-ish?) and at the local Farmer’s Markets on the weekend.(Last weekend they were up in SR at the Veteran’s Hall on Saturday and out in RP on Sunday morning).

Woohoo! Definitely as good as it gets! I love bread. But only really good bread that’s worth the extra 30 minutes that I will have to spend working out. When we moved to Sebastopol 18 months ago from SF, I was sad that I was leaving my tried and true bread purveyors behind. However, Red Bird’s country bread made by the Owner and Head Baker is the best that I’ve had. It’s worth every calorie-gluten filled bite! We were told that the bread is made with a percentage of ancient grains. Whatever Isaac’s proprietary recipe is, it works. The crusty exterior combined with the soft yet chewy interior creates textures that are heavenly delicious. Thank you for moving to Santa Rosa. We are so grateful to have your bread. Will be ordering 4 loaves for my upcoming birthday! Can’t wait to taste your other treats! :)

Ate one almond croissant and one loaf of white French bread(baguette). Liked the flaky, somewhat crunchy and rich with almond flavor croissant. But the dough was a little too soggy & chewy, so the croissant did not take me all the way back to Paris, but it did get me as far as Montréal. Right out of the bag the baguette was too wet inside and the crust was leathery. But wait, there’s an upside. When cut in half lengthwise, slathered with olive oil, sprinkled with some spices, and a dash of parmesan cheese then placed in a 350 degree oven until golden brown, the bread became delicious goodness. Bread is recommended if you toast it.

I’ve eaten a variety of things from them. I love their savory breads but the Morning Glory muffin and their peanut butter sandwich cookie are absolutely the best. And such a nice family too! They have recently opened a new storefront in Santa Rosa. Looking forward to stopping by there as well.

Absolutely delicious hand crafted pastries that taste even better than they look! When you walk into their cute little store front you can see the inner workings of the bakery and everyone hard at work! The pastry display is filled with an array of sweets from muffins to croissants and cinnamon rolls. We devoured a caramel sticky bun and a cinnamon roll. Their galettes have a nice crunch, are perfectly sweet and filled with tons of delicious fresh fruit. Be sure to swing by around 10AM and get a freshly baked loaf of bread to take home! We will definitely be back for more!

I was very impressed by the savory croissant with sausage, carmelized onions. Delicious!!! There was also a cranberry scone. Yum. I spoke with Issac the head baker. he said fresh bread comes out everyday between 9:30 and 10AM. They also serve Bella Rosa coffee. This is a new local business that deserves your patronage and support. Check em out!
