I went to Alterations Sew & So after reading such great reviews of it on Unilocal.I brought a pair of nice jeans here to get hemmed and they did a great job. It was a quick turn around and the staff was sweet. I’ve never gotten a pair of pants hemmed & actually been happy with the length until now. Next time I need anything hemmed I’m definitely coming here.

This is a great place to get alterations done. I’ve used them for simple hems as well as more complex alterations. They are very professional and my clothes come back looking like have never been altered. I am a home sewer and doing great alterations is a real skill, particularly for wedding gowns and suits. It’s pricey for complicated alterations because there is a lot of work and detail involved, plus wedding gown material and lace is difficult to handle.

Do not go here! Our daughter is getting married in two hours and the business is supposed to be open today and has been close. My husband does not have his suit for only daughter’s wedding. I called yesterday to confirm that we could pick it up Saturday morning 10AM. No answering machine and sign says they are open. No one in the area knows why they are close. The worst customer service ever

Wow — amazingly unhelpful alterations shop. I live nearby, and I called to see if I could get a simple slipcover made for a foam cushion. The guy who answered the phone sad«no.» Wouldn’t even discuss it with me. He called it «custom work» and said they don’t do that. What kind of sewing business would be unable to do this easy job?!

I’ve been here multiple times, all for different dresses. They altered my prom dress and did an absolutely amazing job in a short amount of time. They also altered my bridesmaid dress so it fit perfectly. A little expensive, but not really any more than other places. I recommend this place.

Wonderful experience! Thank you so much for your advice on my evening gown that needed the skirt replaced, because of moths. I appreciate so much!

Nice enough people but I picked up my $ 45 fix my suit pants pocket alteration and can’t tell that anything has been done beyond a few threads placed to hold things in place. If you have gone to a place in the past where they worked some magic and found a way to make things look new again, don’t expect it to work here. Still shaking my head over this one. Wow.

I called in to see if I needed an appointment and she said to just come in. I was somewhat greeted and told to try on the dress with shoes. this is the only reason I’m giving a star because it was quick when I got there. However, once I had the dress on, the Woman told me «Oh, it will cost a lot to shorten dress.» Did she think I couldn’t afford to pay? Then she said she didn’t have a machine that could sew the fabric of my dress. She then told me I should just wear the dress as it is… Hmmmm the dress was touching the floor in the back and completely covering the front of my cute shoes. I obviously brought it in because I wanted it altered. Horrible experience, will never go back.

My husband and I have been coming to Alterations Sew & So for about 20 years. We’ve done it all from minor repairs to major alterations; from cotton to cashmere. We have been extremely pleased with everything they’ve done. They are very nice, kind, helpful, and always accurate about the length of time it will take to do the work. Regarding comments that some customers think it’s expensive here, I think the prices are completely reasonable. I spent a lot of time as a younger person learning to sew and making my own clothes. It’s a huge time commitment to make clothes that look professionally tailored and fit well. You will be told what your job will cost up front. I’ve never once been charged more than that when it came time to pick my garments up.

She is amazing. Had a fitted bridesmaid dress that needed 3 inches taken out. Brought it in no problem. Picked it up and asked her to take a little more out in the hips. No problem again Had it ready for me promptly and it fit perfectly.

I’m coming back to review this after we receive my husbands suit, but had to say something right away… I spoke with two other alterations people(one who was«too busy» to alter the jacket but had time for the pants. Good for them, but I’m not sending you just the pants when both need to be altered). The second person actually laughed at me when I told her what needed to be done. Then she said, «that’s very expensive.» Thank you? I mean, if we are calling because we are in a bind, maybe you should be courteous and helpful. SO thank you Alterations Sew & So. Very professional, very kind on the phone, and happy to have my husband bring the suit in so she could review what needs to be fixed, even on short notice. That’s all we were asking for. :)

woah! $ 60 to take in a bridesmaid’s dress?!? She did a great job, but seriously, the $ 300 to buy the damn thing was painful enough! sigh.

I was very happy with the service here. I had a beautiful silk bridesmaids dress that needed taking in. The woman was very helpful with suggesting when would be best to bring it in to ensure I didn’t gain/lose weight between having it fit and the wedding. It was finished exactly when she said it would be, and she did an amazing job. To take it in, she needed to take in a seam at the front of the bodice, and reset the side zipper after having taken in the side seams. I couldn’t tell looking at it, even from the inside, that she had done anything, but it fit beautifully. My only complaint would be that it wasn’t pressed or steamed afterwords. I don’t usually get things altered, so I don’t know if this is standard practice elsewhere or not.

I called looking for a place to do a same day alteration(hem pants.) The woman on the phone said Yes, and when I got there she said it would take a week to get them done. I was in a hurry and that wasted 30 minutes of my time trying to get the pants hemmed. I will not go here ever again.
