History

Established in 1994.

We started A1A Performance Muffler in 1994. It was a dream of mine to start my own buisness and do somthing that i truly enjoyed. After working for other shops in Sonoma Co for the past 10 years and going to night school at srjc for buisness management i went for it and never looked back. I love Sonoma county and the people here that have helped my buisness thrive.

This shop is my favorite muffler shop in Santa Rosa!!! I have referred many people to go see them… they were all very happy! One person was on a very limited budget and he installed a used muffler and accommodated her special needs!
They recently put a new catalytic converter in my Tahoe… the price was less than he quoted over the phone. Since I didn’t have time to deliver the car to his shop, I set it up with my wife, she was happy and didn’t get over charged!
Knowing that Gary races and manages a race car I am planning on taking my unfinished hot rod in so he can help me on the finishing touches, new exhaust, engine tune up and advice.
The best muffler shop in town!!!

My car would not pass smog and the smog guy said go here and ask Gary to look at my failed reports. I did, in fact I came by twice in the same day. When your not a paying customer and get treated so nice and they are so helpful, well it sure makes me know where I’d go if the need arises.

Absolutely great and friendly service! I just had to get my muffler tightened up as it kept dragging underneath my old ’92 Itasca Phasar, and they got me in and fixed it up within a couple hours for a great price. They went out of their way to help me get back on the road safely. These guys and gals really make an amazing team. And on top of their great service, as a portrayal to their all-​around kindess, they care for these adorable, friendly cats in their office that they have adopted from off the streets and feed the wild peacocks living on Todd Rd. on a daily basis. Thank you all so much for making my day!

Stick with muffler jobs. Anything else could kill your engine.
Gary did a bad valve adjustment on my 350 ended up killing the engine and made inappropriate advances toward me. I’ll never go back.

I had a high flow catalytic converter installed on my 93 Chevy Silverado two years ago. The truck ran stronger up until the day I sold it, and the converter even lowered my emissions.
Today I had my 99 F150s rusted out chrome exhaust tips replaced with larger stainless steel exhaust tips… I walked in with no appointment and they only took about 20 minutes once the truck was on the rack. The tips resonate well and gave me the slight increase in exhaust tone I was looking for, these stainless tips will never rust and they really look great.

The tailpipe blew out on my 32 year old car. Read all these great reviews on Unilocal.Gave A1A a call, they said they could fit me in the very next day at 10am. I showed up at 9:45, they quoted a great price, said they would be done in 30 minutes and they were done by 10:05! I didn’t even get done with the great cup of coffee in the waiting room with the free pinpall machine and big screen TV.
This is a great business with great customer service! Why look elsewhere?

Gary at A1A runs an awesome shop. I had installed a few catalytic converters on my car and I had an issue with my exhaust rubbing on the undercarriage of my car. Not only did he treat my concerns with the utmost attention, he also fixed an upholstery part of my car for me (hah), while he was waiting for his lunch! Would return again without a doubt. What a great shop! Had a custom exhaust put on my S5 and could not be happier with it. It sounds fantastic and I’m glad I went this route as opposed a $ 1500+ pre fabricated exhaust. Gary was very helpful, he had me come into the shop so we could look at the undercarriage of the car so I could decide what kind of setup I wanted to go with. Ultimately we went with an x-​pipe followed by 2.5″ piping to magna flow race mufflers and the sound it phenomenal. When I picked the car up the tips weren’t placed exactly how I wanted them to, so without hesitation Gary went ahead and made them sit exactly how I wanted them to.
I highly recommend this shop and know I will be back very soon to throw on some bigger quad tips.

Called and asked for a certain set up. Gentleman who answered the phone explained to me sound difference between the flowmasters… I am glad I listened to him and I am very glad I went with this shop. You simply can not beat the prices! A bolt on cat back kit would’ve cost me more money and more time. Everyone needs to go this shop! They will be seeing my 68 mustang very soon :)

Problem converter solved… finally.
Recently A1A installed a catalytic converter on my Dodge truck. It didn’t pass smog after that. :-(
When I called asking for solutions, it took multiple calls and follow up on my part, before Gary recommend a solution with another smog shop. They did take it for me, paid for it and it did finally pass. :-)
I appreciate them taking care of this.
It just would have been better customer service had Gary followed up with me and recommended this solution earlier. Hassle is no fun for anyone.
At the end of the day my problem is solved, and A1A took care of it for me. Thanks.

I needed a catalytic converter installed on my 96 Toyota pickup. I called the other big name shop in town first, they told me it would cost about $ 400 and to plan on waiting aprox 2 hrs. On my way there 1st thing in the morning, I was passing A1A’s shop and decided I should check and see if they had a better offer. He told me it would take a half hr, and would run me $ 379 after tax. He started on it right away and was done in a half hr!
