Zone 3 Multisport

I started into triathlons a year and a half ago, and Jose has been invaluable. From talking wetsuits to repairing and cleaning my bicycle, to nutrition, Jose has offered a tremendous amount of knowledge that helped me finish my goal of completing an ironman distance triathlon. He seems to care more about what you’re doing as an athlete than about you spending money in his store. I’ve also had a few friends who have purchased bikes from Jose and have been very pleased with the service and selection. Know that if he doesn’t have it, he can probably get it.

Jose is awesome, his bike shop is has everything I needed. I came in from a recommendation from a friend and after chatting with Jose for 45 mins I bought a $ 5k Kestrel Tri Bike… Jose helped measure and fit me, helped with a bunch of other tri gear (I bought a wetsuit here later too). The shop seems small but they always seem to have what I need 6’1″ 200lbs for a bigger guy. I really trust these guys… 5 stars all day.

Despite their high fees, they did not fix my bike.
I dropped off my bike because of a flat tire and because one of the wheels was hitting the break and slowing down. When I picked it up a week later, the tire was still flat (meaning there’s no way they could have tested their other repairs). They changed it on the spot, charged me, and sent me on my way.
4 days later my wheel was sticking again. There’s no way they tested their repairs if the tire was still flat.
Never going back here; sticking with the tried-​and-​true Helen’s Cycles.

I’ve been coming to this shop since it opened, me and Jose have become good friends I ride with him and team Zombie. Is a great experience.

I live locally to Zone 3, and have brought my bike in for a few parts, repairs or tinkerings. Jose is incredibly fair and honest. There have even been a couple of times where I couldn’t quite repair something myself, thinking that the part needed replacing. I would bring it to Jose and he would take care of it, free of charge. Unbelievable! I don’t write too many reviews, but this is the only way I can think of to thank Jose and Zone 3, so thank you!

Super impressed with the bike place by our house. I said I need new tubes for my tires and instead of just making the sale he tested it, showed me how to fully pump tires, and said everything was good. He didn’t even try to suggest I buy a pump. I went ahead and purchased one to support him and when I asked for a pump he even suggested the cheapest one saying it was just as good! I love seeing people in business who actually care, and don’t want to just make money! Thank you!

Every experience here is a good one.
Jose is a kind, fair and knowledgable man.
I feel like bikes are an art for him and he is a genuine good guy.
Again– I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him or his business to anyone.

Great place to get your bike serviced. I brought my bike in to fix a flat tire. The guy fixed the flat, greesed my chain, and adjusted my seat for me. I never even knew my seat was weird, but now it feels amazing… like a brand new bike. It’s so much more comfotable now. Customer service was great too, friendly chill guy working there (might be the manager/​owner). Whole thing cost around $ 16 and took about 10 mins. Definitely coming back when I’m flat.

My bike had been having tire issues, and was long overdue for a good tune up so I brought it here.
I had a great experience with this shop, they helped solve my tire mystery and the tune up did wonders for my bike! I will definitely be coming back for all my future bike issues.

I recently bought a LOOK 566 from this store. The owner was a pretty friendly guy and he gave me a very fair price on the bike and helped me with a few other things. It’s a small store that specialized more in service than bike sales. They do Saturday morning bike rides too. I just wanted to say thanks for bike and service with this review :-)

So I researched online, looking for a place on the West side that might carry tri gear (or at least have someone knowledgable for advice). I drove to Zone 3 Multisport specifically because reviews spoke highly of the service.
I was pretty much brushed off upon entry. I asked the sales guy (who I assume is Jose) if he carried tri suits. He said yes but because it was the off-​season, he didn’t have much (fair). Then, when I asked him if he carried wetsuits in my size (I am a 6’1″ athletic female), he replied «You’re tall and skinny, that’s a problem.» With every question I asked, he seemed more and more disinterested and uncaring to help the «tall and skinny» triathlete. Just coming from a pure sales perspective, he not only didn’t try to sell me anything, he really just discouraged me from buying.
Bottom line: my entire ten minutes spent in this store was uncomfortable, uninformative, unhelpful, and a complete waste of my time. I am sure the products in this store are great and maybe Jose is kind (but probably to just short and skinny athletes and cyclists).

I had a great experience at zone 3. My street bike was shipped out to me and I quickly Unilocaled places to have it assembled and zone 3 was the clear choice. The price for assembly was completely reasonable ($ 45). Dropped the bike off on Monday and it was ready for pick up the next day. When I went to pick it the staff was very friendly and explained some questions I had about getting it in my car. I also bought a helmet and tool to use for adjusting the seat height which was awesome. Finally I was also able to get a free water bottle with the Unilocal check-​in which was an extra bonus. I would definitely recommend zone 3.

The best bike shop around! I can trust the bike service and pricing I receive at Zone 3. It’s one of the very few places I trust with my bike and feel at ease every time I leave my bike there. I highly recommend Zone 3 Multisport! They also carry the most updated cycling equipment and swim and bike apparel. Last year, I got the new Giro Air Attack helmet before any other shop had it in stock. Great shop for triathletes & cyclist :)

Zone 3 Multisport has a selective supply of cycling needs and wants. Beautiful-​looking tri-​bikes, and more than a few options of cycling apparel for women. I’m assuming it was the owner that helped me– he was very knowledgable, answering my questions regarding clip-​ins (searching for my first pair) and assisting me in trying some on.
Its quite possible that I will be back for actual purchasing, as I’m still in «research mode.»

Based on the well-​edited selection of high-​end racing bikes sold here, I could tell that this beautifully run local bike shop catered to serious cyclists who are looking to spend thousands on their bike. However, my friend and I wandered in one summer day looking for sturdy but stylish town bikes to ride around Venice and Santa Monica, comparable to but not as expensive as a Linus, and found exactly what we wanted in the Breezer Downtown EX models sold at this store. We got great customer service from Jose and another gentleman who assisted us, and we found a fantastic deal that beat every other bike store’s offer (since we purchased 2 bikes).
One bike was in stock, and the other bike arrived in under one week. Jose did a great job installing everything perfectly. Most importantly, there was never a long wait for us, or that strange, isolating feeling of being ignored that comes from waiting around in the bike section of a bigger chain store such as REI. For this reason, I feel loyal to Zone 3 and know that when I come back to get my bike maintained, I’ll get the same direct, attentive customer service as when I made my purchase.
P. S. If you’re looking for a town bike, Breezer bikes are a far better value than Linus for comparable quality, power, and design. Linus’s sleek modern accessories are lovely, but to get the equivalent bike with the same gear power, we would have spent hundreds more on a Linus. We’re really happy with our Breezer bikes and saved significantly by going with a less-​marketed brand.

$ 39 dérailleur hangar. Seriously. And I made the mistake of ordering two.
I wanted to be a nice guy and support the little shop. $ 80 later. Not going back.

Someone from the shop has posted a comment claiming they quoted me a price. The guy behind the counter did no such thing.
Having been in the business, I shop at independent LBS perfectly willing to pay above Internet prices. But, $ 39 for a hanger simply won’t work.

I picked up road cycling a little over a year ago, and quickly fell in love with the sport. I began riding three to four times a week. However, as I was learning the ropes, I was doing all sorts of stuff wrong, and my bike fell in to disrepair quite often. Like everyone else, I naturally gravitated toward larger bike store chains for service… Who routinely (and sometimes quite brusquely) quoted me service schedules and turnarounds of days or sometimes even weeks later.
Then, I found Jose and Zone 3. I was worried that I’d feel like an outsider because I’m no triathlete, but when I first walked in, there was no air of pretension whatsoever. I explained to Jose that my shifting was a little chunky, and, before he even looked at my bike, he offered me a coffee. Talk about good service! When I came back later that afternoon (he called me to let me know my bike was ready that very same day), Jose even brought me back into his service area to show me how I could make minor adjustments myself at home.
Needless to say, from that point on, I went to Jose for everything: nutrition, components, service, you name it. To me, Zone 3 defines «local bike shop.» You get great service, bike education, very reasonable prices, and a friendly atmosphere, where no matter your level of «expertise», you are treated with respect. That’s my idea of a great shop.

This store is really for experienced triathletes or serious cyclists. They carry exclusive gear and frames that cater to this market.
With that said, I walked in looking to get the basic equipment for a triathlon and was comparing their offering to that of the Tri-​Lab basic starter kit ($ 900). Jose took the time to walk me through the pricing options and necessary basics. He also explained the different levels of quality available for what I was looking to accomplish.
I ended up purchasing all of my gear (bike, wetsuite, basic attire, etc) from Zone 3 for slightly more than the prepackage Tri-​Lab starter kit. I felt more involved in the purchase, confident in the equipment, and feel great about working with Jose, who now provides regular tune ups and check in on my gear/​bike. Great experience!
Now I just have to complete the race this Sunday!

I am so happy that I found Zone 3 Multisport and Jose. My mountain bike was really in need of a good tune up. When I got on my bike and started up the mountain, I couldn’t believe it was the same bike I was riding before. It looked and felt brand new.
