This is the only place I will go for cuts. Initially I came here for great prices and shop hours but now my wife and I are both loyal to this place. We have only gotten our cuts with Celia who is my favorite stylist ever but everyone there is nice and the clientele all feel familiar and show off the friendly neighborhood.

Worst. Service. Ever.
I am writing this review on behalf of my mom because she does not have a Unilocal account, and is too upset to say anything.
I originally came with my mom here for the reviews. She saw Thomas a few weeks ago for a cut. Well, the cut was choppy, uneven and bowl-​like.
After going home, we noticed how bad it really was, so I told my mom to call him back and ask if he could try to fix it. Though he was annoyed with my mom, he made an appointment at 12:30pm sharp to have her come back and fix it.
Well alrighty then!
So I drive my mom allllllll the way from the valley only to go to the salon and Thomas wasn’t even there! He decided not to come in and didn’t even feel like telling her. His assistant opened the door and was just like… I don’t really know what to say. He didn’t acknowledge my mom or myself and didn’t say anything to help the situation.
It was my mistake for telling my mom to come back in the first place, but this is by far the worst service and care I have ever seen at a salon.

I am very pleased with the service here. Dominic was very polite and professional. His skill was on point. I love my new haircut! I am new mom that suffered from lots of hairless after months of breastfeeding. The prices are VERY reasonable $ 25 for a haircut in this part of town is unheard of. The facility is lovely and clean. The only downside is that it is CASH ONLY.

Took my little sister here to get a haircut. I was a little nervous after seeing a couple of bad reviews, but was lured in by the $ 20 price he had quoted to me over the phone (cut only, no blow-​dry).
It was a very basic cut, he was nice, did an okay job, nothing spectacular. When I went to pay, he said it was $ 25. I asked why not the $ 20 I had come for, and he said it was because he had to take a little extra off the top (??). I know it’s only $ 5, but it left me with a bad taste in my mouth. I felt like he cared more about milking us for that $ 5 than about making a lasting relationship with a customer. Based on that alone, I wouldn’t have gone back.
But the reason I’m giving this a bad review, is because after her hair dried, I saw exactly what those other reviewers were talking about– blunt, chunky, uneven.
I wouldn’t recommend this place to a friend. Too unpredictable (except as a place that provides bad haircuts – looks like it’s starting to become predictably that).

Thomas has cut & highlighted my hair for a couple years now & I’m very pleased. Super-​pleasant environment, excellent prices, fast to call you back if they have a cancellation. Great local spot in Santa Monica.

He is THE BEST. No one does hair like Thomas, makes you feel like a movie star!

I have been back several times for color and cut, and Domenic has been fabulous at both every time. Last time my teen daughter came too, she has very long hair and she was also very happy with the cut. I think he’s terrific and get compliments on my hair, and the prices are reasonable as well.

I have gone to Dominic a few times and have been very satisfied with his work. The first time I was looking for a new look — he cut my hair from shoulder length to short bob style (not necessarily an easy transition) and it was cut very well, a nice shape and style. People commented on it and asked me where I had gotten it done. Anytime I have gone in for a trim, he has never cut off more than I have asked (if I ask him to just cut the dead ends that is what he does) and I have never noticed anything uneven. I have always been happy with his work. He is also very nice. I’m sure the more negative instances people speak of are very real but I must say, I am surprised given that I have never had that type of experience with Dominic at all.
I always thought I had found the most amazing gem given that the prices were so reasonable. It is so ridiculously expensive to get a haircut nowadays. I have very fine hair and not a ton of it — I cannot justify spending $ 60-​$ 90 on a trim. I searched and searched and finally found this salon. This place is the perfect find given that you are basically getting a Supercuts price for a much more skilled stylist. Satisfies the beer budget/​champagne taste as far as my experience has been. I would definitely recommend it and I think Dominic does a fine job. Everyone has to make their own decision based on varying Unilocal reviews but for me personally, Dominic has been great.

STAY AWAY!!! Dominic RUINED MY HAIR!!! I said I wanted a ½ inch HE CHOPPED OFF 6 INCHES! It was the most mortifying AWFUL hair experience of my life!!! Not only did he chop off my hair but it is TOTALLY UNEVEN. There are HUGE CHUNKS in random places missing and my right side is WAY longer than my left side.
He started on the left and I called him out telling him he just chopped off my hair… so illogically he was more conservative cutting the right side, which resulted in my hair being totally uneven. The worst part is he kept saying that «i still have my length». He didnt even say sorry. He messed up so bad and he never apologized but said he would give me 10 $ off. Who goes in for a ½ inch trim and walks out with 6 inches cut off. I had to cut my hair even shorter because its soooo uneven. The hairdresser i went to after him took a picture to show her other hairdresser friends because she said she had never seen something that bad.

I actually read Amanda’s review but was swayed by all the other good reviews. My experience was exactly like hers! Which I guess is really a commentary on Dominic’s skills.
Salon experience was great and Dominic is really a very lovely person. However what I requested and what I got is another story and is the reason why I have to unfortunately give a 1 star rating.
I came in with longer hair (bra length) and told Dominic I needed a trim to get rid of the split ends and some layers to help add bounce and remove weight. He first trimmed my hair to a good length still respecting my wishes to keep my length. Then he mapped out how my layers would go. Ultimately I left with hair just past my shoulders unevenly cut. At first I was ok, but as the cheeriness of the experience faded and I really looked at my hair, I realized what a mess it was. Not only was my hair short but there were no layers whatsoever (unless you count the uneven length all around) but bluntly cut and not blended. If the ends had been neatly cut, I could accept losing the length for maybe a cute shoulder-​length bob. But the fact that I lost all the length and will need a second haircut to clean it up (and likely shorten my hair length more) is what drove me to write this review.
It really pains me to give 1 star because everything else was great… but bottom line it’s about hair and if I end up having to figure out if wearing a pony-​tail for the next month is feasible — not a good sign.

Thomas has been cutting and styling my wife’s and my hair for over 10 years. He has always done a great job on our hair. So, if you want a good hair cut go see Thomas and you will not be disappointed

Tried this a few weeks ago. I have short hair (woman) and it’s SO HARD to find someone who can cut short hair without just giving me a boy cut. Sylvia (I think) cut my hair and she was fantastic. I described what I wanted, she cut just a little bit in the back and then gave me a mirror so we could discuss if she was headed in the right direction. THANK YOU!!! I hate getting a whole cut and then having to ask someone to redo something because it’s not what I wanted. When you have short hair, they tend to cut fast to get you out the door and there’s not much time to redirect. She also did some texturizing, which I wasn’t expecting for these prices. Thrilled.
The place is clean and nice. There are water bottles out and current magazines. The shampoo was excellent — great massage. There’s only about 3 chairs in the salon, so make an appointment first so you’re not waiting around too long.
My only disappointment was the blow dry — I think it was $ 19 for the cut $ 10 for the blow dry. I did specify that I wanted one, but like I said, I have short hair. You can blow dry it in 2 minutes. She took a long time and styled it a bit on the old lady side (I’m 31). When I went to pay, I was surprised at the price. I didn’t know how much the blow dry was and I didn’t expect it to be full price for me since my hair is so short. Feel like they should have charged me $ 5 instead and could have skipped some of the extra drying/​styling after my hair was clearly done. Next time I’ll just do the cut and leave with wet hair.
Still, this is THE BEST haircut I’ve had for a long time. I’ve already gotten lots of comments on it. Will definitely be back.

I don’t want to be that party pooper with the one star rating but I was honestly misled by all the good reviews of this place and pretty disappointed. Dominic cut my hair and although he is a perfectly lovely person his skills leave much to be desired. The ONLY reason this hair cut wasn’t a complete disaster is that I didn’t ask for much, no layers, just a trim.
The uneven sides where immediately obvious to me after my blow out but he didn’t catch it so I politely pointed it out. He cut the bangs bluntly across the forehead with two longer pieces on either side, meant to frame the bangs, but with no blending between the lengths and the fact that these too where uneven, it looked pretty awkward. In my experience a good stylist tends to point cut the bangs so they lay a bit more softly on the face. This straight across the forehead method looked a little too «bowl cut» for my taste.
I came here looking for a quality stylist at a reasonable price. I ended up going home and fixing the bangs myself, wishing I hadn’t dropped my usual $ 10 tip (wasn’t clear how bad it was till I got a closer look at home). It was $ 30 for a cut and blow dry, so in all I paid $ 40 for a cut I could have received at supercuts for $ 15, sadly I saw no difference in the level of quality.

I have been coming to this salon for two years. I was referred by a shopkeeper on Montana Blvd in Santa Monica so I was not expecting it to be as reasonable as it turned out to be. I was out of work for two years but I needed regular hair maintenance as I was job-​seeking. This would not have been financially possible without this salon and I am so grateful. OMG!!! I’m totally in love with Dominic and Thomas. They take such good care of me and my hair. I come once a week for a wash and blow dry and I get color and trim as needed. I always get compliments on my hair. My highlights are so natural looking and I have spent lots more money elsewhere only to have my hair stripped and fried. It’s one of my favorite relaxing rituals to come to the salon. First class hair care, affordable, friendly & fun.

I saw Dominic for the first time today because my hair was getting hard to brush through at the ends. I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new stylist after leaving the North Bay Area and seeing a good friend of mine who styled my hair. She gave me the best hair style ever.
I walked into the store yesterday and was able to make an appointment for earlier today and was very happy I didn’t have to wait any longer since on work on the weekends. I am very happy I used Unilocal to aid in my search. I saw all of the great reviews for both Dominic and Thomas. Still I was a little apprehensive because of the low cost. I thought to myself, are they really as good as everyone is reviewing, or are they just another Super Cuts. Well, I should never have had that thought.
I got there and he greeted me like he had known me for years, very welcoming. He thoroughly washed and conditioned my hair before trimming it, making sure to create even layers. Then he finished with a blow-​dry and style. Once he was done, it was evident that he did a great job. It was one of the best hair cuts/​style I have ever gotten. I liked it so much, I suggested my husband he go to see Dominic as well. I can say that Dominic is just as good at doing men’s hair as he is at doing women’s.
The cherry on top of the experience was the cost. This place is super affordable. My wash, cut and blow-​dry/​style cost $ 30 before tip and my husband’s was and cut cost $ 22. That is an unbelievably amazing price for a Beverly Hills Salon quality experience. I am so happy to have found a great stylist who has the perfect combination of skill and ability as well as charisma and likability.

Best haircut in years! I just went to see Thomas for a haircut and I was super pleased with the results! I have very curly hair and it is almost impossible to find someone who knows what they are doing, which is why I waited so long! I asked Thomas for a trim and he DIDN’T chop my hair all off! WHAT?! A stylist who listens? I was so happy to find a hairstylist who knows his way with curly hair. Ladies if you are looking for a professional look no further! Go see Thomas and get a great wash from Dominic too! And did I forget to mention… CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP! And the low price does NOT mean low quality! He also does quality color and styling work too.

Oh. My. Goodness. Let me just say that my hair was starting to drive me CRAZY. I had gotten it cut about a year ago, and since then I had only gotten 1 trim. One. It is SO difficult to find a competent hairdresser who doesn’t charge an arm and a leg. The reason I had only had 1 trim (neither of these cuts/​trims was at Thomas Silva Hair Salon, FYI) is because it had been a difficult search to find someone, and then when I did, she totally missed a section of my hair and the split ends were driving me nuts. My hair had gotten to the point that it would not lay flat bc the ends were so frayed, I just looked like a hot mess no matter what.
So, I finally felt it was time to get on the search for someone, and fast. I found this place on Unilocal on Monday the 9^th and I was in there by Wednesday the 11^th. According to Unilocal,this salon is by appointment only. However, when I called, they said they also accepted walk-​ins. I was scheduled for 6:15pm, but got there early after work (I’m a notorious early bird, to a fault). Luckily, Dominic was nice enough to take me early even though I insisted it was totally fine for me to wait. I had brought my book and was in no rush now that I had found a place I felt would do a good job, according to Unilocaler’s reviews.
Dominic double-​washed my hair and conditioned it. It smelled super nice. And then the cutting began. I had brought pictures of what I wanted. My hair was long, about the middle of my back, and had had layers previously, but they were all grown out. I emphasized that I wanted to keep as much length as possible, but wanted to get rid of all the split ends, and add lots and lots of layers. I knew when he started sectioning my hair and all that, that this was a guy who knew what he was doing.
I was very, very, VERY satisfied with the results. Not only did Dominic do a great job, but it was only $ 20.00!!! I cannot emphasize enough how fantastic it is to get a quality cut without going into debt! It’s a plus that he’s totally nice and talkative. I just got to sit there and relax and listen :-)
I would HIGHLY recommend this salon to anyone, and that’s saying a lot from me because I am so picky… I mean, you can’t trust your hair in just anyone’s hands, but this is definitely the place to come if you’ve been looking for competent hairdressers! I’ll definitely be coming here in the future, fer sho!

I’ve been going to Thomas since he opened his shop in Santa Monica. He does the best color ever! Since I’ve been going to him, the color in my hair is more consistent and natural looking. His assistant, Dominique, is also very good with color. The shop is nicely decorated and unpretentious, with Thomas’ dog usually sleeping in the back room. A great find!

I have been going to Thomas for years. =) Love what he does to my hair, and his prices are reasonable!!!
