Suzanne Shin

Suzanne is the only stylist I’ve encountered that I’m excited to go back to time and time again. She’s always got a good sense of what I’m looking for, but also, she’s able to conform what I want to a cut that works for me personally. She doesn’t rush in any way. She wants you to have the cut you want. The best!

Beyond talented and creative, Suzanne has been my hair stylist for over 10 years. Even though I’ve moved away from the area, I still make the 70 mile trek to see her every time. I don’t trust anyone else with my hair!
Suzanne has always been up to date with the most recent trends and fads. I always give her the creative freedom to do whatever she wants with my hair and I’ve loved it every time. From blonde to multicolored ombré to feather extensions, she’s done it all with my hair. Now that I’m older and looking for more traditional styles, she also never disappoints with cut and color that is exceptionally well executed. She has always worked with all my needs and gone out of her way to cater to my needs, even sourcing all organic and phosphate free products.

My teenage daughter just got her hair cut last night by Suzanne. Suzanne did an AWESOME job! My daughter’s hair is very long and really think and tangles easily. My daughter wanted to keep her long hair look but knew that she needed some sort of change. Suzanne had great suggestions. She left it long but did cut off a few inches (there was plenty!) and also did a little bit of layering in the front and «thinning» (that’s not the right term but I can’t remember what she called it) at the bottom so that it would not look as heavy. She also had great suggestions for products to help keep my daughter’s hair more manageable and even gave us a little sample to bring home to see if we liked a particular product. My daughter loves her new haircut! We highly recommend Suzanne!

Suzanne has been my hair stylist for years. I love her because I can go in knowing exactly what I want and she captures what I’m imagining perfectly OR more often than not, I go in with some vague idea and say «do what you think looks good, I trust you» and she does something totally amazing. My hair always looks and feels amazing after I see Suzanne. She really cares about helping you achieve that perfect look on your own too so she teaches you what to do and can make excellent product suggestions without being too pushy about it. Suzanne is fun and is super talented so definitely you should go see her!

All Jewish Los Angeles ladies complain about the jew fro. Let me tell you, mine was out of control, and that’s no exaggeration. After going through stylists who claimed they could help my curls and give me a great cut, I thought I was forever doomed. Then I found Suzanne, the holy hair miracle! Wow! Where do I start?
Suzanne introduced me to the keratin treatment to smooth my curls and zap away my unruly frizz. I never heard of such a thing as all the other stylists I went to clearly did not know what they were doing. In a place like Los Angeles, I can assure anyone they need to have a stylist who is up to date with color, style, cuts, trends, and whatever else will give you and your hair a boost. I’ve tried all different cuts and colors with Suzanne, and let me tell you, Suzanne never fails. My hair has been in check for over seven years and I have never considered anyone else since. You will not be disappointed.

Suzanne is the best stylist in town! She has been doing my color and cutting my hair for over a year now and I can’t imagine going to anyone else. She is truly an artist and I always feel 10 years younger when I leave. She is precise, brings out your beauty, communicative, always on time and has the best personality. Many stylists can be condescending and Suzanne is the opposite. She loves what she does, cares about her clients and always makes you feel naturally beautiful.

Suzanne is simply the best!!! I’ve been coming to her for the past year or so. She is always right on time, really listens to what I want to do with my hair and helpful with new creative ideas if that’s what I’m looking for. My hair always turns out exactly what I was looking for. She’s great about getting me in when I need last minute. Her prices are amazing, especially for the neighborhood. She has an immense amount of knowledge for hair styling, coloring, and at home care as well. And on top of all that she is simply a lovely human being! So friendly and open, a delight to be around.

I was referred to Suzanne by a friend and this was my first experience and can honestly say that I am so happy I listened to my friend. I will definitely be coming back and love my hair color. She even gave me this magic potion to take home and use weekly to help with the condition of my hair. Very happy. Thank you Suzanne.

I absolutely love Suzanne. I was referred to her by a friend about six months ago. Before I met her I was switching back and forth trying to find a hairstyle that was good with blondes. Suzanne is amazing. She truly cares about what you want and the look you are going for. She’s always giving suggestions and explaining the process so I understand what exactly she is doing with my hair.
Not only does she care how your hair looks but she cares how it feels and how healthy it is.
I would recommend Suzanne to anyone. She is very talented and provides wonderful customer service. :)

Very professional and clean quaint salon. I arrived here for my deep conditioning appointment as was greeted and promptly started on fixing my burnt hair! Suzanne shared informative tips on how to repair all the damage I’ve done to my hair. She was quick and got me in and out, just how I wanted it. Parking is kind of annoying, but then again parking anywhere in Santa Monica is!

I relocated to Santa Monica from New York several weeks ago. I have short, straight Asian guy hair, which apparently can be very difficult to cut. Suzanne did an excellent job cutting my hair. I showed her some pics of what I wanted, discussed with her some of my concerns, and she cut my hair very nicely. She has a very good eye and is quite a lovely person. Very fun to talk with. I’ll definitely be a regular.

This was my first experience with Suzanne doin’ my do :). She was recommended to me by a friend (thanks friend!). Seriously the best haircut etc. of all time. Side bangs… check! Length… perfect! Oloplex (sp?) treatment for stronger hair… oh yes please!
She even put these awesome (classy, not trashy) shiny strings in my hair, love them! Suzanne is so sweet and REALLY knows hair. She will explain in detail anything you want to know from A to Z about hair and products.
She even hand-​makes these awesome hair clips. They are unique and she’s so talented. Parking is easy, 2 hrs. free on the street, nice & clean salon.

Suzanne is one of the best stylists I’ve ever had! She really knows her stuff and will explain to you each process she uses, why it’s good, etc. Several months ago, I came to her with super bright red hair and asked her to help me get it back to my natural color (which was quite the process…). She worked with me to make it as easy as possible and my hair looks awesome! She helped me get it into a beautiful, healthy state. I’ve been hooked ever since!
She also recently gave me my first short hair cut, and made it look super fab as well. I was really worried about getting a short style because I thought I would look weird with one, but she gave me great recommendations and was able to interpret what I wanted (even though I didn’t know myself!).
She’s an amazing stylist, and is also just super nice and welcoming :) I recommend her to my co-​workers all the time!

Had probably one of the best haircut experiences I’ve ever had. Suzanne was just fantastic to work with. I came in just a general idea of how I wanted my hair, which Suzanne listened to patiently, and skillfully turned into one of my all time favorite cuts. Super knowledgeable and helpful, she shared a load of information on how to care for my hair, and control my tendency to frizz up and it’s been super great!

I’ve been to many different hair dressers over the years, and Suzanne is the best at what she does. My hair has never been so healthy or looked as good.
I’ve been going to her for 6 months now, and every time, she makes sure we talk about exactly the color and style that I want. Not only does she spend the time to discuss what I want my hair to look like, but she works hard to make sure it ends up being what we talked about. There’s nothing worse than a hairdresser who thinks they know what you want, only to go in the complete opposite direction.
If you’ve ever had a bad hair experience, or if you’re unsure about what you want to do with your hair, you won’t regret going to Suzanne. She is hands down the BEST hairdresser I’ve ever been to, and I never hesitate to recommend her to people.
So, if you want beautiful, healthy hair, make an appointment with her! And if you don’t want that, then why are you bothering reading the reviews?

I feel like I can’t ever thank Suzanne enough for her work. I had my hair cut by Suzanne 2 times now and plan to for as long as she works! I feel great after I come out of her salon and my hair is easier to manage with her magic touch.
On my first visit, I consulted with her about what I wanted for my hair in the long and short run (growing it out but having that full asian hair, it gets a bit difficult), she cut it in a way that is easy to manage.
Then on my second visit (2 months after), it felt like she barely trimmed my hair (because I’m growing my hair out) but I looked so much better than when I walked in there. I received compliments from strangers, coworkers, friends, and family!
And the way she styles your hair. I wish I woke up looking like that every morning. She also has great knowledge about hair and hair products. She is extremely easy to talk to and very friendly. I also love that she is careful and detail oriented. I came earlier than my appointment time so I got to see her interact with other clients. She’s even fantastic with kids!
She keeps a book that has client information on it, then logs what she had done for that day’s visit. I love that she keeps track and it’s very personable to me.
Suzanne is pleasant person and she is very sweet. I’m so glad that I found her :) I will update my reviews when I change my hair style in any way in the future!

Ok, so I’m in my mid 20s, born and raised in LA and never, ever have gone to the same stylist more than once. Granted, I HATE getting my hair cut, but also I’ve never found anyone who could really «get» my hair. To be fair, I’m terrible at describing what I want. Half the time I don’t even know what I want, I just want it to look pretty– but is that so much to ask?
Well, I’ve finally found The One! The one hair stylist, that is: Suzanne.
I can go in and give Suzanne this insanely vague description of what I want my hair to look like, she works her magic, and then it looks even better than I had imagined it! No, really. That’s true talent right there. I feel so much better, now, because I no longer have to stress about picking amongst the millions of hair salons in LA (seriously, it gives me anxiety, because there’s nothing worse than a shitty hair cut you just forked over 150 bucks for), and I can go in and have an enjoyable experience. Not only is Suzanne great at cutting hair, she’s also very knowledgeable –you can ask her anything from products to hair curling and she’ll have the solution– and she’s super friendly!

Finding the perfect hairstylist in Southern California can be an absolute nightmare. … does this sound familiar… google or Unilocal hairstylist close to your city, you find like 5 that all have fairly decent ratings. You call for an appt and the receptionist signs you up with the only available hairstylist. When you finally get your haircut… you feel absolutely disgusted with yourself because the haircut was awful!!! well, that’s been the story of my life for the past TEN years… until … Suzanne came into my life. You could say a friend of a friend united us.
My first experience with Suzanne was complete bliss… from making an appointment to the finished product. I left her salon feeling like a million bucks! Thanks Suzanne for being my hair angel for life. You are definitely the best hairstylist around.
