Kimberly approaches the voice as a magical, alchemical, bubbling brew. Sessions are ever evolving, because we are ever evolving! All private lessons and classes are rooted in vocal work (as in you will definitely enjoy the amazing benefits of working with a phenomenal voice coach), but they will also have a major impact on your «Voice with a capital V» ~ how powerfully and happily you are showing up in your life.

These vocal empowerment sessions are a body, mind, spirit endeavor. Clients can expect to have their sessions specifically tailored to their unique needs. Working with Kimberly is for those who are 18 and over, and interested in voice lessons that will free their voices in singing, speaking, and life.

History

Established in 2006.

During her years as a student, a professional singer, and a teacher, SFYS creator Kimberly Harrison has seen how fear and misunderstandings about the voice hold so many of us back, and not just from karaōke! They hold us back from experiencing life fully. Learning to sing in a safe, conscious, uplifting environment can open doors you didn’t know were closed. In Matrix movie speak, it’s like choosing the blue pill over the red pill. It will blow you away in all the right ways.

Kimberly’s background includes a B.A. in Music and a Master’s Degree in Vocal Performance. Her extensive training also includes two intensive years with legendary singer and vocal technician Phyllis Curtin, a summer at Tanglewood music festival, and a season with the Spoleto Italy Vocal Arts Symposium. Kimberly has sung with renowned vocal and orchestral ensembles, performed title roles in opera and music theater, and premiered multiple works by contemporary composers.

Kimberly currently offers private lessons, vocal playshops, and performances highlighting the healing power and beauty of the human voice. Audiences say:

Kim is the one and only vocal coach I recommend. I’ve trained with many people in Los Angeles, but it’s this woman that changed my life, both as a singer/​songwriter and as an individual. My range went up to a professional level after using her technique. The tools she gives are more than just vocal technique, she’s the most vibrant guiding light and will bring that part out in you. She’s my loving guru, simply adorable and always fun!
Kim is perfect for all levels, kids, adults, beginning, intermediate and professional.
Kim has extensive knowledge of the body, so when learning with her you are going to get the proper training.
She will give you tools that will save your voice from:

I’ve been taking Skype lessons from Kimberly for a couple months, and she is phenomenal. The idea of doing video chat lessons seemed strange to me, but she had such good reviews, I figured it was worth a shot. I’m glad I did — she definitely lives up to the hype, and we’re able to hear each other clearly, almost as if we’re in the same room (technology is amazing).
Kimberly is fantastic at adapting to your skill level and tempo, which is something that’s quite important to me… I’ve had some less-​than-​stellar experiences with teachers in the past that took a one-​size-​fits-​all approach to teaching music. Homie don’t play that. I think music is something that’s very personal, and it takes a strong teacher to stay focused on the individuals needs and not fall into autopilot.
Kimberly is one of the rare few; she really cares about your improvement. She adds an element of depth and spirit to each class, which she begins with an (optional) guided meditation to aid connection and presence. She also keeps it fun and light, and is great at helping you comfortably work through stage fright issues. Before the first class was over I had many of my misconceptions about the voice cleared up, a handful of quick remedies that instantly improved some of my singing and breath issues, and some great exercises to improve my strength, range, and confidence. I «walk» out of each class excited to practice, and I notice big improvements on the weekly.

I can’t say enough about Kimberly and this amazing, healing, sanctuary for the voice. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Seriously. I’ve had many voice lessons, and working with Kimberly took my voice to a whole new level.
Let me break it down:
— Kimberly is incredibly knowledgable about all aspects of music and the voice.
— Her teaching is tailored to the students needs. I needed a quick fix to get ready for a big performance, and she was flexible enough to deliver exactly what I needed
— Easy free parking on nearby streets (big plus!)
— Her prices are beyond reasonable
— She is really organized. Sends you a a google/​ical invite for each appointment and is always on time.
— The studio is filled with good energy. You can feel it.
I could go on and on and on and on, but I’ll leave you with this: If you are looking to expand your singing skills for any reason, this is definitely the place to go. No question.

This class is one of the highlights of my week. Kimberly has helped me to strengthen my singing voice and made me so much more confident singing in front of others. She uses a phenomenal voice strengthening technique and provides great feedback on ways to build your focus, posture, and delivery of a song. Somehow she does all this and at the same time creates a space that is uplifting to the spirit and ALWAYS fun. I’ve been taking the Women’s Voice Class for the past few months, and not only has my singing improved, but so has my speaking voice, confidence and spirit. My uncle and his family came in from out of town a few weeks ago, and they asked me if the class helped me with my speaking (voice projection). I hadn’t realized it at the time, but they confirmed that it did! Kimberly Harrison is an AWESOME instructor and person. I always feel so energized after class, and it helps me get through the work week. Kimberly makes sure it feels like a safe place and everyone is super supportive of each other. I just had to share because this class has done great things for me, and it can do great things for you, too!

Kimberly is amazing. I sang in bands for years then became a professional opera singer. I came to Kimberly to keep my voice in shape. She saved my voice. I’ve dealt with countless singing teachers in my career, many of them excellent. But none brought heart into their coaching the way Kimberly does.
I’ve watched her work with children and adults with equal success.
I can’t imagine anyone who wouldn’t improve and learn to love their voice and what it can do under Kimberly’s tutelage.

I have loved singing and been in performances since I was really young. Although I loved to belt, I was very insecure to sing classical songs. I went to multiple teachers and coaches who told me I needed to change my voice or my classical singing would not sound good. Hearing this made me want to give up and not even attempt classical singing. This all changed when I met Kimberly.
Not only is Kimberly incredibly knowledgeable, she is an amazing person. She helped me got over my fear of singing legit and she is continuing to help strengthen my belt! She honestly is the complete package. The studio is very warm and inviting and Kimberly always greets you with a smile on her face. The vocal exercises she gives are so helpful and have really improved my voice. Even when I felt insecure, Kimberly reassured me and made me feel incredibly comfortable. She has also taught me that although my voice may sound different, it makes it unique and she never tried to change how I sound. I have been taking singing lessons with Kimberly Harrison for more than a year now. I was very nervous and scared for my first lesson but Kimberly made me feel comfortable and put me at ease right away. Kimberly has been very patient with me in my journey to share my voice. In fact, I was just able to finally sing for my mom — something I have always wanted to do but was too afraid (sometimes family can be the most nerveracting audience!) I started going to Kimberly last year and ever since, I’ve found that I have improved dramatically. I’ve been a to a bunch of other singing teachers before but Kimberly has by far been the best. She evaluated the kind of singing voice you have and works to strengthen your best assets. What can I say about Kimberly Harrison and Singing for Your Soul… except that they are both AMAZING! I was guided to take singing lessons from my own Soul (long story that I won’t get into here), and I was not-​so-​coincidentally sent Kimberly’s information from a friend of mine several months ago. I instantly knew that Kimberly and I were a good match after our brief phone conversation. My first lesson was really quite mind-​blowing. Never having done anything like this before, I was super-​impressed by Kimberly’s impulsive style of teaching. She would receive an inspired thought to try something, and the next thing I knew, I was doing it. I have just loved her ability to take me from where I was to where I am today in a kind, patient, and playful way. She is such a gentle Soul herself, and that is why I can absolutely take it when she gives me feedback on a topic as sensitive as my vocal performance during a lesson! I really couldn’t recommend a person or a teacher more than Kimberly and her singing lessons. It/​she will change your life (and voice) for the better. Guaranteed.

Oh my, where do I begin? I am in my mid 40’s and I have always wanted to learn how to sing. After two failed attempts at trying to find the right singing instructor in Los Angeles (in the past 10 years, mind you) I have finally found one! I have been taking singing lessons with Kimberly for about 8 months now… and it has been so wonderful. My main concern was feeling safe. I know I will not be going to the Grammy’s to perform but I wanted to find whatever voice I had and work with it… in an environment that was gentle and non-​judgmental. I was so terrified at the beginning and Kimberly made me feel so safe and she was so encouraging. I can’t compliment this woman enough… she is a true professional. I had my first recital in June (yes, middle-​aged women can do recitals, too) and even though I thought I was going to pass out… I am so glad I did it! It was a major accomplishment for me. I am still taking lessons because it’s just not about singing… It’s about finding your voice!
