Rita Weisberg, DDS

It’s taken a few incidents for me to write this review and I’ve finally had it. Dr. Weisberg and the two other women in the office are kind and pleasant, but that’s the only redeeming part to the operation. It is SO unprofessional.
My most recent appointment was in December and a few months later I got a letter in the mail saying it was my 3^rd notification and that I owed $ 100 as a late fee on a $ 1 charge. (what?). It was, in fact, the first notification that I received, and when I called to question it the woman at the desk said she would look into it and call me back. A week and a half go by and I don’t hear back so I call back, leave a message, and that day I get a call back saying they had figured it out, I had an extra appointment in the calendar year so insurance wasn’t covering it… and I only called back to confirm that I had received her message and was surprised that they still wanted me to pay even though when she scheduled the appointment, she assured me that insurance companies have a «grace period» if the appt is early. I would not have scheduled the appointment if it was not in the time insurance would cover it. I was willing to take some responsibility, I should have just said to schedule it a few weeks later, but I took her word that it was OK. The charge still seemed nebulous but she said the doctor would go 50 – 50 on it so I gave her my credit card over the phone, and was squared away (except I got a call a few minutes later saying that she had shredded the paper she wrote the number on before it had gone through and she had to process it again. Accidents happen I guess…)
This morning, after receiving a voicemail and text reminder that I have an appointment at 8:00 am, I’m waiting outside the locked office, no one is there. Since I’m mentioning it, I always schedule my appts for 8:00am and they always arrive around 8:01 so we’re not actually starting the appointment until around 8:10 and they’ve set up. I call them and leave a message, where the voice message assures me that their business hours are starting at 8:00.
So between the unclear and perhaps unjustified charge, not correctly scheduling appointments, as well as them NOT BEING THERE FOR MY APPOINTMENT, my fiancé and I will be finding another dentist.

Pushy and a hard sell for questionable procedures. Felt like I was misled about procedure costs.

Dr. Weisberg was recommended to me by my general doctor which I trust and have had for many years. I am sad to say this has been the worst experience I have ever had with a dentist and DONT recommend anyone visit this office!!!
Initial conversation and treatment was to standard (a bit rough with my teeth making me bleed far too much) but I wrote it off because she said it was good for my teeth to feel that much pain. Shortly after my first visit Dr Weisberg became an emotional mess that would hang up on phone calls and promised to deliver a night guard twice then did not (a personal random decison-​?). The Dr. threw the night guard away after two painful fittings and long visits without calling me or asking me if I wanted to pick it up because they could not mail it to me even after they had promised to do so. This is over the span of 4 months as I was waiting for the much needed item patiently.
It was an absolute nightmare to work with them and their staff of two people. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Outside of not working in a timely or non emotional way the front desk coordinator and Rita Weisberg lied about payment. They overcharged me and refuse to do anything to fix it. This is even after the screw up with the nightguard I never received. In fact when I tried to call and have a civilized conversation about it I was hung up on and told I was no longer a patient of record– UGH what a horrible feeling. Not only is this office not to trust but they are RUDE and down right BAD POEPLE.
Lets just say Ive never received such poor customer service and hope no one else does! I plan to file a formal complaint to the dentistry association so they are aware of this very bad practice Dr Rita Weisberg is running.

Having moved from the Long Beach area to Santa Monica, I needed a new dentist I could really feel comfortable and connect with. I picked her from the provider list I was given from my new job, and BOY was that ever a lucky pick! I just love Dr. Weisberg. She is the perfect dentist, being thorough, professional (the best cleaning I ever had and she does it herself!) easygoing, down to earth, knowledgeable and a really darling human being. Her office is beautifully decorated (by her) and I love the music she plays. Where can you listen to Jim Morrison singing LA Woman in a dental chair at 10am I ask you? We were both rocking out as she put my temporary crown on! On a more serious note, she detected an infection in the root of a very old root canal I had had done in the early 90’s. What was amazing about this is the fact that I have been getting routine dental checkups and cleanings every 6 months all my life, and it is amazing to me that no other dentist caught this with all the xrays taken over time. I ended up with a root canal to remove infected roots, but so fortunate or I would have ended up losing my coveted molar. Thank you Dr. Rita! See you soon!

I have gone to many dentists and have been seeing Rita now for over 10 years. She is amazing and performs the work required with excellent eye for perfection! I have had some bad experiences with Dentists but can say I will be a long time patient of Ritas unless someday I relocate. I highly reccommend her office. Oh and Susan her assistant is the most friendly accommadating gal I have met. Thanks.

We have been struggling to find a great dentist who takes our insurance (United Health Care), has a great hygenist, and has a nice office staff. We’ve found and left four in the last 10 years. FINALLY we found Dr. Weisberg!!! She is Old School Wonderful. Not only is she sweet and personable and very professional, but she is the hygenist too! And she is perfect at it! I have been hurt by hygenists, but Dr. Weisberg is gentle and thorough. She is a good diagnostician, doesn’t push hard on treatments she thinks you need, although she certainly suggests them, and her staff of one, Susan, is also terrific. She takes all insurance, and they do the submissions! (amazing)
Highly highly recommended.

I love Dr Weisberg and Susan her assistant. I actually look forward to my appts.
They are both so friendly, Susan is incredibly down to earth but always answers any questions I have.
Dr Weisberg is so funny she has me cracking up while cleaning my teeth, which can be a little awkward actually. but I still love it!

I have been going to Dr. Weisberg for more than 5 years. I had a lot of work done to fix my teeth in the beginning and I keep going to her to keep them nice and healthy. The office has been very accommodating with my schedule for appointments and always gets me in on time.
I have referred many of my co-​workers to her over the years.

I am new to Los Angeles and was referred to Dr. Weisberg by a friend when one of my teeth started bothering me…(actually part of it chipped off so it was a major problem). I was able to make an (emergency) appointment immediately after contacting her office. When I went there, I was afraid of how much it would cost and explained to Dr. Weisberg that I was not in a very good financial position for dental procedures. She was very sensitive to this problem and very careful to perform just what was necessary to fix my tooth. She also referred me to a great endodontist who performed a root canal (that was not that horrendous).
She also has a great bed side manner and seems to be a very lovely person.
The office is very clean (which is a big deal to me when going to the dentist… I really don’t like when the equipment looks like it was made in the forties or fifties and seems to have a scummy appearance — Dr. Weisberg’s is very new and clean).
I had a great experience with this dentist and will be visiting her again.

I have to admit, I only went to Dr. Weisberg one time and it was over two years ago — but since I just started writing reviews on Unilocal,I thought I’d put something up. Unfortunately I don’t remember details because it was so long ago, but I definitely remember that I was NOT a fan of this dentist. One reason I remember had something to do with the fact that she was not very sensitive to my questions about whether or not the procedures were neccessary and she was not responsive or actually maybe even evasive/​not upfront with me about how much the dental procedures cost (usually dental offices are very good about telling you how much insurance covers and what you are responsible for, etc.). Anyway, sorry this is not more detailed but i do remember having strong negative feelings about Dr. Weisberg’s office.

Dr. Weisberg, herself, was really nice and she understood my ‘chicken-​ness’ and was really gentle with me. She kept emphasizing flossing, flossing, flossing… and she probably will with you too!
The dental assistant on the other hand… grrr! I have a litto litto mouth — and she was trying to stick x-​ray slides with these ginormous bite-​down thingys the size of my fist in there! That wasn’t fun. She wasn’t so gentle. Dr. Weisberg, however, was, and I’ve already made another appt with her for my second semi-​annual cleaning. Hopefully, next time I have x-​rays done, it’s done by someone else.
Oh and when you’re about to walk out, the friendly lady at the front desk give you a little grab bag full of dental goodies… a toothbrush, dental floss, mouthwash… hey whatever, it’s free! :) I’m easily amused.
BTW — The parking situation kinda sucks since they don’t validate and the lot is kinda expensive. If you can score a parking spot on the street, you’re lucky!
